@pussycatunpickingcrossesagain

There's a few "Replica" Roya Tiaras on Amazon ]]
Some lovely ones from that bridal shop

Yummy

That Swedish necklace is immense!

It's gorgeous, isn't it?!

Anyone who still doesn't have a tiara, or feels their tiara drawer could do with more variety could take a look at these:

Has anyone claimed the Braganza tiara yet? It's absolutely stupendous! I'm pretty tempted I must say...

Serenster · 05/04/2022 21:22

I’m also mildly surprised that Leti is embracing the grey, but definitely her for it.

The Etsy replica site is fascinating, but terribly researched Grin. This isn’t the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland, it’s the Kent Festoon!

Some serious bling there @MotherofPearl and I love the idea of Queen Silvia rooting around in a cupboard and finding a hitherto unknown tiara!

Maireas · 05/04/2022 21:29

So many unclaimed tiaras!
I'm very keen on the Swedish Processional Necklace, as well (upthread)

The necklace is absolutely gorgeous!

The Braganza tiara is certainly stupendous! But extremely cumbersome and heavy and difficult to wear for that reason, according to Silvia.

This programme is really interesting and much of it is in English. Commentary from Silvia, Margrethe, Mary, and others. Well worth watching if you haven’t seen it. Lots of detail about the history and heritage of many of the pieces that belong to the Scandinavian royals and how they came into the various families.

Nnique · 05/04/2022 21:47

And here is a programme looking at recent Royal Swedish wedding dresses (Silvia, Victoria, Madeleine and Sofia’s, plus a couple of others IIRC) which is also interesting. English subtitles.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=zlKBrnqbitg

Also talks about little details around each of the weddings.

Maireas · 05/04/2022 22:02

Brilliant. Thanks for these, @Nnique

Maybe we should nick the Queen Sophie tiara and give it to Sophie Wessex

Looking at all these replicas tonight, the foam tiara is quite stunning I hadn't noticed it before

justasking111 · 05/04/2022 22:27

Some tiaras must be headache inducing. I bought a metal headband that gives me a headache.

Didn't the crown give the queen a headache??

CliffsofMohair · 05/04/2022 22:27

Can I claim this Mellerio Ruby tiara if not yet claimed 🙏🏻 👸

In the wedding programme there’s also an interesting insight into Royal duty - Prince Bertil who waited 33 years to marry the woman he loved.

MotherofPearl · 05/04/2022 22:31

That is a beauty Cliffs.

I have not watched both videos posted by @Nnique in full yet, but watched the first half of the first one, and was so struck by Queen Margrethe's accent - she almost sounds English! I have read that she spent some time in a boarding school in Hampshire, and studied at Girton too, so I assume that explains it. She seems to have had much better educational opportunities than our own Queen.

KillingMeDeftly · 05/04/2022 22:35

Yes, Daisy sounds English as does Joachim. Fred sounds Scandi though. Funny how the brothers have different accents.

She must be fascinating to sit next to at a dinner party - she's been educated extensively and is an accomplished painter and costume designer too. The Windsors seem a dull lot in comparison. HMQ never even went to school.

StartupRepair · 05/04/2022 22:36

I think Marie looks a little underdressed there.

Was he the Swedish prince? He had to be on hand until King CG came of age or something like that?

You can bet that MC will be calling herself Queen the moment King Constantine pops clogs 👀
Nnique · 05/04/2022 23:07

@KillingMeDeftly yes - he was the last heir of his generation upon his brother’s untimely death in a plane crash (their other brother had already relinquished his place upon marriage to a commoner). Carl Gustaf who is King now was only a baby at a time. So Bertil, who by that time was in a long-term relationship with a commoner, agreed to remain unmarried and was heir presumptive until succession had been secured at Carl Philip’s birth. They finally were able to marry some 30 years later and as the King himself had by that time also married non-royalty, Bertil was allowed to remain a Prince and Lillian became a Princess. Or something like that...not sure I got that all quite right Confused
