Ooh I love that red trouser suit Mathilde is in - though I never thought I'd like anything Mathilde ever wore as I usually like Leti's style best.
Though I can see Leti in that outfit (in dark red) & Max too albeit in yellow.

@Nnique I knew about the law change that put Victoria ahead of CP in the succession but assumed that was just doing away with male
primogeniture. I didn't realise that women couldn't inherit the throne at all until then, and that Bertil was heir rather than one of CG's sisters.

Yes as I understand it that was the case. Princess Ingrid (Margrethe’s mother) was the only daughter.

(Although it might have been because Ingrid had already married the Crown Prince of Denmark by the time of her brother’s death? I’m not sure now, truth be told! I’ll have to investigate!)

That will be interesting to see, especially from an etiquette standpoint (I have seen Prince Charles bow to Constantine, etc.). It's one thing to call yourself King or Queen of something (and have other royals treat you as such) if you have in fact been King or Queen of something, but quite another to assume a title that no longer exists.

Prince Bertil's partner / wife, Lilian Davies was Welsh from a seemingly humble background- her life story sounds interesting.

From all accounts, she was well loved by the family. I watched her funeral on Youtube (the algorithm throws up all manner of royal content to me), and they all seemed quite sad, especially CPV. And Queen Margrethe attended, which I thought was a real mark of respect. There were several nods to her British origins.

Also Princess Leonore's second name is Lilian.

@LadyEloise1 yes, if I recall she was a miner’s daughter and then became a model, I think.

Yes she was a part of the family all the way and much loved by everyone. I’m sure they were indebted to her, too, for making that sacrifice.
