There may be no such word.
You get the gist Smile

Oh, it’s a big fat no. Mescaline definitely had a hand in the design of that one. 🤦🏻‍♀️
@KillingMeDeftly You’re uma Thurman in my head, I think it’s the killing bit/kill bill 😉

KillingMeDeftly · 27/03/2022 09:34

Hah @gluenotsoup, well I'm tall though not as tall as Uma who is about 6ft but my complexion and hair colour are more akin to Meghan's, which is probably why I generally liked most of the colours she wore when she was a working royal. The Australia/NZ/Pacific trip was a royal fashion high point for me!

gluenotsoup · 27/03/2022 09:39

Ooh, well now you’ll be Meghan in my head. Eau my word has transformed to Kirsty Allsop and Maireas to Natalie Portman 👍🏼

BeaLola · 27/03/2022 09:43

I'm hoping it's Charlotte's favourite dress and she said "mummy please wear it for me " and Kate is doing it for her daughter rather than for all of us – we can but hopeSmile

chesterelly1 · 27/03/2022 09:47

Now that really is last thing in the suitcase territory. I don't see why she has to be frocked up to board the plane for a long flight. Just pitch up in your comfies Kate, we know you want to.

Maireas · 27/03/2022 09:50

Natalie Portman with Nosferatu hands!
😂😂
You are surely Amanda Lamb?

hopeishere · 27/03/2022 09:50

Am sure she's straight into her comfies the minute the plane takes off!!

gluenotsoup · 27/03/2022 10:00

I bet she’s in her comfies too! I think my favourite outfits of the tour were the yellow she arrived in Jamaica in and the green sparkly evening dress. Hope we see them again.
Amanda Lamb is probably not too far off! Similar shape I suppose. Dd has one of the celebrity face match apps which puts me as Zooey Deschanel (I wish .. on a good day!) or on a bad day it unfortunately might be more Noel fielding😂😂

I always imagine Charlotte sitting on the bed, watching Kate get ready for some glittering event. Must be quite something watching your mum transform into full princess mode.

Then again she could be completely uninterested and it might be Louis watching instead!

paradyning · 27/03/2022 10:25

I liked the yellow, the pink gown and the sundress. And that's it.

RomainingCalm · 27/03/2022 10:32

Someone needs to call Windsor Castle. I think some of the curtains have been stolen.

That yellow dress is awful, really awful.

Serenster · 27/03/2022 10:34

This is definitely a case of being careful what you wish for when asking for Kate to be more fashion-forward! The 80s is definitely cutting edge in fashion right now - check out this actress in a straight off the catwalk YSL number at a pre- Oscar event yesterday! And Kate’s “2020s does 80s doing 40s” look also works as a throwback to the Queen’s outfits, I guess…

(Part of me actually likes this YSL look, as Angie Everhard in her advertising images for Rive Gauche perfume was my spirit animal as an 80s teenager Grin)

Nnique · 27/03/2022 10:35

Well quite. And that’s exactly why I said I don’t want to see her in cutting edge fashion.

KillingMeDeftly · 27/03/2022 10:47

I kind of like that red and black dress the model is wearing - sharp and tailored 80s looks good, floral and froufy not so much!

Nnique · 27/03/2022 10:49

Yes that works for me too.

gluenotsoup · 27/03/2022 10:58

I actually like that, without the gloves. Can’t see Kate in that though. Possibly Bea or Eug could do a tamer version.

Maireas · 27/03/2022 11:06

It's been tricky, hasn't it? I think Kate wanted to reference HM's coronation tour, for this very special Platinum tour, and has certainly done that. But it's been a bit hit and miss, it's not 1954, and I've no idea why you'd get on a plane dressed like that.

OP posts:
gluenotsoup · 27/03/2022 11:17

I think she’s looked just right mostly. I can see her references to HM, and the countries visited. I liked the green dress with the hummingbird brooch too, but I just don’t like the last yellow one. The more I look at it the more you see, far too much going on in it- how can you get shiny fabric, spots, flowers, peplum, puff sleeves, big collar, buttons and bling all in one dress?? It’s only missing lace for the full house of horrors. Please put it straight into the kids dress up box, Kate.

SeaRabbit · 27/03/2022 11:19

Kate's plane dress monstrosity reminds me of this frilly number worn by P Anne to Chas 'n Di's wedding, and then more recently:

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7517095.stm

I used to think that was ridiculously frilly, but it's tame compared with that dress of Kate's.

RonaldMcDonald · 27/03/2022 11:58

Her dressers and fashion staff need to be sacked
She either cosplays her role. Buttons for military events. Colours of flags or countries. She can go to Ireland not dressed in green. Or they are inappropriate - full length, pink, shiny, sparkle for semi casual event
Or that yellow monstrosity

Gooseysgirl · 27/03/2022 11:59

@SeaRabbit I was thinking exactly the same!!!!!

Maireas · 27/03/2022 12:01

To be fair to Anne, it was 1981.
(Zara was less than three months old!)

An acquaintance of mine met Charles last week in Ireland and said he was a delight and very chatty with them! Sorry I can't divulge the details of the convo as it's also very outing 😆

Garimond · 27/03/2022 12:07

@Eaumyword

Good grief, my eyes! That latest yellow dress needs a frock intervention and taking to the charity shop
I'm afraid it reminded me of the horror that was the "festoon blind". Like something off Dallas! The bow at the front is hideous but I have actually lived through that fashion era and don't want to return to it ever again!

If Kate wants to do vintage fashion I could see her channelling 1970s cow girl ... wide leg jeans, cowboy boots, Stetson, suede laced waistcoat, killer Balenciaga sunglasses ...the silhouette would really suit her. Ok slight disadvantage being it's not suitable for royal tours or Carribbean weather Grin ...but no need for white stilettos, or 80s peplums ... she'll be in ruching next! Grin

Gooseysgirl · 27/03/2022 12:11

God yes!!! I could totally imagine Sue-Ellen Ewing in that frock 😆
