I've seen a lovely fluffy dressing gown I like in Sainsbury's.

Not usually keen on dressing gowns they always come undone and flap about, do I need to give them another try.

I've recently decided to upgrade my sleep wear from stained grey stuff to nice pj's with matching dressing gowns. Got some sets from cyberjammies in the sale. I too get cross with dressing gowns but have made piece by not doing them up. I am very large of nork and they used to pull it all apart so now I just waft about like I'm wearing a cloak. Much better.

Danikm151 · 12/02/2022 20:30

Remember dressing gowns have the ribbon on the inside to tie it and then you fold over and tie with the cord- stays on and snuggly

blyn72 · 12/02/2022 20:34

I love dressing gowns and have several.

DogsAndGin · 12/02/2022 20:38

I bloody love my dressing gown. Tie it tighter if it flaps. I’m very sad when mine’s in the wash. In fact, I might go down to sainos and get this fluffy number before they sell out Grin

ClariceQuiff · 12/02/2022 20:40

I love my dressing gown. It's great to shuffle myself into on a cold morning to venture downstairs and make that first cup of tea.

JSG55 · 12/02/2022 20:45

I live in my dressing gown. Always have a back up for when it is getting washed - dread to think what it would be like not having one whilst I waited Grin literally the first thing I do when I come home is put it on.

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 12/02/2022 20:48

Morrison's grey one here!! So amazing teen ds wants one and keep stealing mine!!

twoastars · 12/02/2022 20:48

So funny this thread came up as I was just thinking today how I should really enjoy wearing a snuggly dressing gown on a cold morning but in reality it just annoys me. I feel restricted and a bit slovenly wearing it around the house and the wide sleeves just flap about and get in the way. I prefer wearing a cosy hoody and leggings

rubytubeytubes · 12/02/2022 20:50

I love dressing gowns too! I she. Two and would live in them if I could Grin
Give them another try

Seymour5 · 12/02/2022 20:52

I have several, but tend to wear an ancient, comfy one. Its soft, comfy and I can’t bring myself to chuck it out.

IvorCutler · 12/02/2022 20:53

I’m with you @twoastars. I like the idea of them but I find them a faff. I’m more likely to pull one off and use it as a blanket.

SarahJessicaPorker · 12/02/2022 20:53

A bit like you op, I don't usually get on with them. I find them flappy and they get in the way. Somehow I always manage to get the sleeves wet filling the kettle or whatever.

BUT, I could definitely be persuaded to give them another go

JellyTots2009 · 12/02/2022 20:56

For the people who don't like them opening. If you thread the tie around the front instead of going round your back it will definitely stay closed. It's tight enough.

JellyTots2009 · 12/02/2022 20:58

Like this . Don't go around the back just fasten them at the front

Couldn’t be without a dressing gown…wear mine every single day.

KylieCharlene · 12/02/2022 21:02

Love a dressing gown. I wear one in all seasons (yes, the fluffy variety at the height of summerGrin).
So comforting.

MissFritton65 · 12/02/2022 21:06

I'm another who loves a dressing gown; I have several different weight ones for the seasons. I've a cashmere one for the winter, brushed cotton for spring and Autumn and silk for the summer; fabulous, original loungewear.

1frenchfoodie · 12/02/2022 21:08

I got the best one from White Stuff a few months ago - soft jersey with fleecy lining and - being a 5ft3 shorty - down to my feet. Game changing.

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 12/02/2022 21:09

Love a dressing gown, I can't remember a time when I haven't had one. So cosy!

userxx · 12/02/2022 21:12

@Danikm151

These always end up down the toilet with me pissing on them. Highly annoying.

Woahthehorsey · 12/02/2022 21:12

Once we're back to working full time in the office I'm having a ceremonial burning of my dressing gown, in the meantime it's my best friend!

Icantremembermyusername · 12/02/2022 21:16

I have a winter one, a summer one and excellent waterfall cardigan. They all serve a purpose!
Have been de-icing the car fully dressed with my fleece ankle length dressing gown this week!

TheAnswerIsDontThinkAboutIt · 12/02/2022 21:36

I'm another who loves them, and like MissFritton above, I have different ones for different seasons (although no cashmere or silk, sadly!) My OH used to roll his eyes till I got him a summer-weight one and he came to me after a few days and just said... "You were right, I get it now." Grin

BoodleBug51 · 12/02/2022 21:38

DH bought me a long cashmere one from White Company for Christmas.......... I can't wait to get home from work to put it on. It's so warm and cosy, and even better I don't look like a teletubby in it.

Divebar2021 · 12/02/2022 21:40

I have a cashmere one which I love because it’s so warm but so light. I can’t stand really heavy towelling ones now. Only problem is it’s knocking on for 10 years old and has several holes but I’m not getting rid of it.
