Before you all say don’t be ridiculous, you’ll look like the bride- there is no bride- it’s a gay wedding. I love this. lOVE it. Could get the floral one but of COURSE I want the cream one. Can I???????

Oh God - it looks like a toilet roll dolly from the top of the loo!

My thoughts exactly.

The answer is definitely no or 'Don't be ridiculous'

Even with no bride, it screams "attention seeking", and, in truth is really horrible. You'd have to pay me a lot more than the £450 it would cost anyone, to wear it anywhere, and a lot, lot more than that to wear it to any of my dcs' weddings.

PossiblyPertunia · 10/02/2022 20:30

First 2 absolutely not! 3rd one, definitely!

No. The tiers are awful. Just my opinion.

sadpapercourtesan · 10/02/2022 20:30

No, you can't wear that! You will look like you are trying to make up for the absence of a bride. It's a beautiful dress, but it is overtly bridal.

XingMing · 10/02/2022 20:31

NO. It's their day. Not yours. Flamboyant is wonderful, but not in blush, cream, nude or white.

Rina66 · 10/02/2022 20:31

I think it would look better as a midi, rather than a maxi, and you could show off . Could you get it shortened

PatsyJStone · 10/02/2022 20:31

I think ask them.

SalsaLove · 10/02/2022 20:31

No way!

Rina66 · 10/02/2022 20:32

Sorry, you could show off some gorgeous shoes too? Could you, would you consider getting it shortened?

lunar1 · 10/02/2022 20:33

Ask them! It would be a definite no if there was a bride, so unless one of the grooms is planning to wear a wedding gown I think it would be ok.

breatheinskipthegym · 10/02/2022 20:33

It’s gorgeous. I guess I’d double-check with your son, but I don’t see a reason not to. It’d look jarring next a wedding dress, but if there’s no wedding dress I don’t think it’s an issue. Champagne is the nicest colourway, although I also like the blue.

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 20:33

Huff. Ok so can anyone suggest another website of stuff I might like that is like this but not so ‘extra’. Despite loving this, I don’t generally like fussy girly stuff. I have tattoos. And mad hair. And I never ever ever wear heels or anything like that. I like ridiculous, and flamboyant but with a modern edge iykwim. I can’t stand anything like bombshell or pin up styles. I bloody hate the words but most people say I’m ‘quirky’ in my dress sense. A bit like a sixth form art teacher maybe. I am 5’8, I am a 16

I'd say no to a straight wedding but maybe to a gay wedding. I'd come up with a couple of options and then ask your son so that he doesn't know you have your heart set on this one. That way you'll get an honest answer.

NeverChange · 10/02/2022 20:35

I like the first dress but only in red. Second dress is terrible. Neither suitable for mother of the groom.

Your choice appear attention seeking. It's their day, your aim should be classy, understand elegance. Look good but blend into the background rather than stand out, or at least that's what I think.

Ooh, no. Tiers can add pounds. Too fussy (again)

Have you tried www.bombshellhq.com/ or www.phase-eight.com/wedding/mother-of-the-bride/??

What about looking at Vivienne Westwood?
FleeceNavidadFromTheSheep · 10/02/2022 20:36

And what about the other mother of the groom? It would be rude to upstage her... or maybe you both could go flamboyant?

DaisyMum40 · 10/02/2022 20:37

@Asiama

Too bridal in both colours, sorry! I know you said it's a gay wedding but you don't want to look like as if you want to marry one of them!
On what planet would anyone at the wedding think "she looks like she wants to marry her son/his partner"?!! Stupid comment.

I think both dresses are nice, but definitely only going to suit a certain figure - the woman modelling then! Just ask your son what he thinks. Regardless of how much he opines on women's dresses for such an occasion, I'm sure he'll be happy to see his mum wanting to look and feel at her best for her sons big day.

Only on MN would you be criticised for wanting to make an effort for your sons wedding. I mean, obviously you should pick something drab, blend into the background and don't dare look happy for them, that's just attention seeking!!

SpikeySmooth · 10/02/2022 20:38

Just read your update OP. Just ignore my last post.

PurrBox · 10/02/2022 20:38

Are you friends with the other mother, by any chance? Maybe she would enjoy wearing something slightly extreme too. It could be fun- and if the grooms don't mind- why not do it?

Hellosunshine1234 · 10/02/2022 20:39

No

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 20:39

@harriethoyle yes good shout!

I only thought about long because I hate my ankles.
I don’t mind looking fat. I AM fat. I will look fat in whatever I wear because I am fat.
I don’t want to look classy or elegant. It’s just not me. I am also quite young. Ds is young too. I’m too young to wear traditional mother of the bride/groom outfits. I would feel and look like I was dressing as my late mother.

The dress is very beautiful - especially in the cream - but people will think you secretly want to marry your son.
