Body Shop products that are better than anything else you've tried

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 01/02/2022 07:45

A neighbour's daughter has started doing Body Shop at home and I would like to support her.
I've always enjoyed Body Shop products when I've been given them as gifts but it's not somewhere I've ever bought my cosmetics & toiletries from.

Please let me know what products you only ever buy from the BS and think are better than other brands.

If you are a BS consultant, please be honest and say so, and let me me know what products are most popular with your customers for repeat purchase.

Oh and I've only ever used their toiletries, am not familiar with their makeup at all.
I am on the continued search for a concealer that actually works on my dark under eye shadows, are their concealers - are theirs any good? And I don't have a preferred foundation, is theirs worth trying?

Thank you

Their hand cream is very good, but I wish they'd bring the candy cane one back - it was my favourite ever.

I like most of the products that I've tried from there, but it is just so expensive these days. It used to be good value.

leafcuttingwhale · 01/02/2022 07:49

Their stuff is not that great and after they publicly accused, and in a mocking way, JK Rowling for talking about male violence, her personal experiences of male violence, and the need for basic safeguarding to protect women from it, I'll never touch their stuff again.

Willowwarble · 01/02/2022 07:58

I don't buy Body Shop stuff apart from one product - Vitamin C Glow Boosting micro dermabrasion. I cannot find any scrub that is as good.

Sunshineandrainbow · 01/02/2022 08:00

Vitamin E face cream
Seaweed face scrub
Hemp hand cream saves me in winter.

Agree with this.
Marmarind · 01/02/2022 08:04

There is a Vit C moisturising refreshing spray. I like to keep mine in the fridge so it's cold and spray it on throughout the day in summer, in winter I don't use it as much but will spray some on before bed creams at night.

FindingMeno · 01/02/2022 08:04

Hemp hand cream is the dogs bollocks.

LawnFever · 01/02/2022 08:06

I absolutely love the Camomile range, the oil & the balm are the best makeup removers I don’t buy anything else.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/02/2022 08:07

I am looking for an alternative to the Drops of Light cream, I don't want to buy from them at all but finding it hard to replace this particular cream.

vjg13 · 01/02/2022 08:09

No personal experience but have seen good reviews of the ginger shampoo for dandruff.

HasaDigaEebowai · 01/02/2022 08:09

I will not buy from the body shop any more because of their misogynistic views towards women.

It’s annoying because I’ve worn one of their lip liners for 30 years.

Infinitemoon · 01/02/2022 08:11

They used to have a purifying shampoo called Green Tea but that has been discontinued. Sad The Tea Tree replacement, cleanser shampoo is still better than any other that
I have found.

ufucoffee · 01/02/2022 08:12

Isn't body shop at home an MLM? I stopped buying it in the shops because of what they said re JKR and jumping on the woke bandwagon

Metallicalover · 01/02/2022 08:16

I like the face mask, favourite is the Himalayan charcoal one, I like the hand creams especially hemp in winter, the alcohol hand gels.
I buy the aloe Vera facial cleanser as well.
I like the foundation and BB cream.
Everything lasts for ages.

Oh damn, another alternative I need to find, failing miserably as it's really good for itchy scalps.
Narutocrazyfox · 01/02/2022 08:16

Hemp hand cream is ace, and the ginger anti dandruff shampoo is incredible - in fact, it's the only product that has ever fixed my son's dandruff.

However I didn't realise the comments made about JKR - how upsetting... I don't really want to add BS to my boycott list because I'm running out of places to shop!

Thisbastardcomputer · 01/02/2022 08:17

The peppermint foot spray is great in summer and an added bonus, if sprayed on midge bites it's very soothing, this I found out by accident, having my ankles badly bitten.

draramallama · 01/02/2022 08:19

Ah, I knew this would be an MLM post.

I think you need to read what actually happened and in what context before you boycott them. Too many times I've seen the facts twisted on social media reports. So do your own research and reach your own conclusion, rather than rely solely on 'the Body Shop is misogynistic' posts that don't always convey the whole story.

I've satisfied myself that I am happy to buy from the Body Shop, having looked in to what was actually said and by whom.

Thanks for all the product recommendations .

I am in another country, but I assume it is all the same.

I use Vit E toner, Vit E face wash.

And most of the oils for life range.

My dd uses the ginger shampoo when her scalp is itchy (I don't as it strips colour) but her favourite is the strawberry shampoo.

I have several lip balms dotted around the place, and I quite like them too.

We only have the shops here. I don't know about the MLM side of it. Do you mean it is going a bit like Avon now that you can buy directly from those who choose to sell?

HasaDigaEebowai · 01/02/2022 08:26

Ahhh, so are you the body shop consultant op?

The body shop tweets are out there for all to see. It’s an mlm, a pyramid scheme. You’d be better off chucking her £50 as a gift.

EmmaH2022 · 01/02/2022 08:31

I re looked at this and am still thinking that was an awful thing to say.

No I am definitely not a Body Shop Consultant, my request was genuine.

Yes the Tweets are all out there for people to read. And I'm saying people should look at those and the context in which they were written and make up their own minds. rather than just boycotting because someone on MN said they are misogynistic. It's not that straight forward. I

They were crap over the JKR comments, which is a shame because they were always very pro women.
I don't use anything but Bodyshop, I've always get it for me teens too. I still get spots as well as dry patches if i use even high range products, but Bodyshop suits me. I use the Oils of Life range. The facial peals are great. My teen dd uses the Aloe facial creams as they calm her skin. My teen ds uses the teatree serum to help with his spots. The body butter is really nice.

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 01/02/2022 08:40

I’m well aware of exactly what was said and I too am boycotting them. Shame because I can’t find a dupe for their banana shampoo and conditioner.
