This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

I just went through the Estée Lauder inci list and there are a lot of oils and waxes as well as only one form of Hyaluronic Acid. (The cheapest one, too!) There is caffeine and argireline as well.. I’m not sure this is going to do much for you, especially for that price. Use it up, for sure… Make sure you do your neck and chest and hands as well. Then swap that out for another (cheaper) HA serum.
You’re right about the cleansers you already have being a bit too much atm, especially the Resurfacing one. The Epiduo is resurfacing your skin. You don’t need this. The combination could cause irritation. (They other is just fancy, scented detergents.)

Justilou1 · 13/02/2022 15:22

Oooops…. And City Block’s not bad. Use that up and then when you’re close to finished, let me know. I can certainly suggest cheaper and more modern formulas that will also be soothing and moisturizing.

WellTidy · 13/02/2022 16:04

Thank you so much @Justilou1, this is greatly appreciated.

Right. I am going to keep going with the epiduo, but not immediately. My skin is really dry now, and tingling unpleasantly when I use it, so I don’t think it’s good for me to keep going (I’ve used it for seven days now, each day). I might let me skin settle and then try, say, twice a week and see how it goes. And plan to make an appointment and ask for one of the two things you suggested in prescription.

To remove make-up, can I use a micelles water? I normally use Garnier for sensitive skin. Or would you not recommend this? If not, is there one you would recommend please?

I will try the curel foaming cleanser and the moisture milk. Is this for morning and evening please?

What is an occlusive layer to put over this at night please? This is a new lingo! I’ve used Estée Lauder for 25 years (interspersed with foray into Elemis, Votary and Pixi which didn’t go well, and which I think was actually the start of my skin getting sensitive).

I will use up my EL advanced night repair serum (I have about 50ml left to use, but at the rate I’m applying it that is only a couple of months’ worth) and the Clinique city block (I have two tubes of this definitely a beauty products hoarder!). And then I’ll be in touch again Smile

TeaAddict235 · 13/02/2022 16:10

Those products look tasty @Experiment627 . Please do report back on their useability Grin

MarmiteLover101 · 13/02/2022 16:22

New empty for me, TBS Rose body yoghurt. I liked how soft this made my skin. My only criticism was that I found the scent a bit… boring! Probably because I’m currently also using some Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille body soufflé which is absolutely delicious.

In the midst of my obsession with my skin, I forgot to report on an empty- 40ml PK Elasticizer. A HG product for me and I now have none left. I will swap to Olaplex No. 3 (which I also rate v highly) as I have a 100ml bottle of that.

Experiment627 · 13/02/2022 18:39

@TeaAddict235 well a spot has just appeared on my nose so who knows what is going on!

@Justilou1 seriously I feel like you should start your own skincare brand! You are so knowledgeable- I am in awe 🤩

Not at all wishing to enable fellow hordwra but skincity do 3-2 on makeup. Grin

MidnightMeltdown · 13/02/2022 19:25

Thought that I wasn't going to have any empties this week, and then unexpectedly finished 3 products on Friday

16) Rituals body scrub: Really liked this. I would RP

17) Drunk Elephant Rosi Drops: this was in the Space NK 2021 advent calendar. Loved it! Have already repurchased the full size.

18) Elnett hairspray: An old favourite. I don't use hairspray very often, but when I do it's usually this. I have another in the stash.

@WellTidy - can’t possibly imagine having the $$$ to get that off the ground!

WellTidy · 13/02/2022 21:21

Another empty: to protect my face, I re-purposed this on my body, which made it single use 5ml Elemis rose hip facial oil. Really, really lovely scent and nice to use, but way too spendy to use as a body oil.

LadyLolaRuben · 13/02/2022 22:17

Checking in. Perfect thread for me atm

Not had to many empties this week,

3 more shampoo sachets gone though.

Id consider buying the Mane & Tail shampoo after using the samples.

1 sachet was Ouai. My hair felt really clean, but my hair felt so dry!

52/100 empties so far!

clary · 15/02/2022 00:39

Sorry all, fallen right off the thread.

Hence quite a few empties tho this includes vitamin pills - well some were in the CB AC!

So from my pic I like the Aveda leave in conditioner - from M&S AC. Might RP.

I love the Aurelia night oil, but have RP a smaller bottle as I think the fragrance lasts better. The Aurelia night serum was meh tbh.

The other items were ok I guess; not amazed by the Lumene mascara; preferring the Sweed one I am now using.

Major trauma - I have mislaid (maybe at work?) my eyeliner pencil and now apparently the only ones in my stash are flicky liquid ones - not always what you want. Mascara so have many of for sure but no eye pencil.

Anyone got a good one they can recommend? Can't believe I am about to buy an eyeliner!

AprilLady · 15/02/2022 09:32

@clary my two favourite gel pencil eyeliners are:

Trish McEvoy - I like the dark aubergine
Pat McGrath permagel pencil eyeliner - I like the blk coffee

The PMG comes with a handy pencil sharpener too.

Not had many empties to report in the last week, but hope to have a few in the next couple of days.

Justilou1 · 15/02/2022 11:10

@WellTidy - gotta be honest… I think you need to keep up the Epiduo until you have an alternative, or you’ll end up back where you started. Can you try every second day?

TheChosenTwo · 15/02/2022 11:21

A few empties today, tiny ANR (received with something, I never buy this but always seem to have the little samples kicking about), I like it but probably not enough to buy it.
Luna is being decluttered, I use a tret now and never really liked this much when I used it before. It’s been open in my drawer for a long time, it needs to go!
And my perfume, always have a backup of this, it’s the only perfume I ever wear.

A couple of scrubs done. Sephora was out of the advent and the Amie was from a Naturissimo box from ages ago. Not going to repurchase.

The BS anti ageing cream really was bs. My legs actually felt dryer after using itConfused

@Justilou1 I’m not sure I can use the epiduo at all right now. I’ve not used it for three days as my skin is like sandpaper. So, so rough and around my mouth it looks like I’ve eaten ten sugary jammy doughnuts and not licked the sugar off my face. I have stopped using anything at all (I had reintroduced my Estée Lauder advanced night repair serum and day wear moisturiser, but my skin got very red) but I have an emollient from my SIL (zeroderm) and I am trying to use that. My skin isn’t reacting to it (been using just that for a day and a half now).

Experiment627 · 15/02/2022 18:27

@WellTidy that just sounds awful! Really hope the new cream sorts the dryness fast 🤞🏼

Justilou1 · 16/02/2022 03:56

@WellTidy… When I started Tretinoin, I began twice a week for a month. I used a very gentle routine like I suggested to you above, and then went to three times a week for a month. After that, every second day, then every day. Maybe you should try that. Adapalene is the next Gen version of Tretinoin. It might give your skin time to settle and you will still have the benefits of the medication.

Purpleavocado · 16/02/2022 08:25

Since my last update:
Garnier Ultimate Blends Almond Crush conditioner. Hate to think how long I’ve had this, I think probably 2 years and there was only a week or so left if the bottle. Don’t know why I didn’t just use it all up at the time! It’s fine, nothing special.
Coco Mme edp intense 100ml – I’ve had this on the go for a few years, smells great, but I can’t tell any difference between this and the regular version.
Next Floral essence perfume 30ml – very meh, ended up using this as air freshener.
Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic 200ml – this is my go to toner, I’ve used up loads of these.
Totals:
3 samples/minis
7 full size products including 3 perfumes

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 16/02/2022 08:38

@clary what do you think of the Sweed mascara? I’m using it at the moment too and whilst I find the ‘brush’ weird, it does do the job.

Experiment627 · 16/02/2022 09:59

I have an empty:

  • Crabtree & Evelyn jojoba oil bath & massage oil: adore the smell, am devastated it has been discontinued, but am glad that this is used up - it is probably more than 10 years old 😲
