This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

Fraaahnces · 15/08/2022 10:03

Oops! So much for being ruthless… might have replaced my eyeshadows with some of the new Clionadh Cosmetics ones. I have never used them before, but I have decided that I will definitely have a one in, two out policy. (Including all the colourpop eyeshadows, etc…)

Experiment627 · 16/08/2022 05:46

I have an empty!

  • Lush Sleepy body lotion: I am not usually a fan of blends with lavender as I just prefer the unadulterated scent of lavender, however I really like this cream - perfect for applying just before bed. I find the smell (oatmeal infusion & lavender flower & sweet tonka) very relaxing and comforting. This was a gift but I have purchased in the past & will do so at some point in the future.
FiveShelties · 16/08/2022 05:58

Five empties for me - some very small and no need to purchase any of them, many others in the To Be Used Queue.

Nuxe Rice Oil Extract Recovery Oil 5ml, I really liked this, sinks into skin really well.
Lipcote, found a couple of these in a box and have been using it over my lipstick - works well.
No 7 Protect & Perfect Eye Cream - have used this for a while and have a couple more somewhere.
Finally a shampoo used up - Palmolive Intensive Moisture Coconut 350ml. I loved the smell and my hair is really soft. Still have half the conditioner left.

17 items out and nothing purchased, although I am doing some serious research on Advent CalendarsGrin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/08/2022 06:36

Body Shop passionfruit shower gel.
Ibought it a few weeks ago , a real blast-from-the-past , loved the passionfruit cleansing gel (face) , so this was similar fragrance .

No plans for Advent Calendars here Xmas Grin

WhatTheFuckingHell · 16/08/2022 07:14

One empty from me:
Lush rosy cheeks face mask: I liked this as it didn’t irritate my skin and it felt lovely and cooling (perfect in the heatwave!) will rp in about 20 years once I’ve used up all my face masks I’m intrigued re. Advent calendars, which ones do you like?

Fraaahnces · 16/08/2022 10:45

I’m kind of jealous and relieved at the same time that advent calendars aren’t a thing here in Aus. (Unless you count the kitschy supermarket ones with waxy “chocolate” in each window.

MidnightMeltdown · 16/08/2022 10:57

I've seen quite a few Australian YouTubers unboxing calendars in the past @Fraaahnces especially Net a Porter. Not sure whether you have NAP in Aus or whether they've ordered them from the UK!

NAP don't ship to Ireland from the UK so I assume they wouldn't ship to Australia either.

WhatTheFuckingHell · 16/08/2022 11:14

Hmmmm we’ll need a new thread soon!!!!!!

MidnightMeltdown · 16/08/2022 11:23

Not sure @OchonAgusOchonOh

The website says that they offer next day shipping to Australia. I have no idea how they manage that, or whether or not it includes advent calendars, but the Aussies somehow seem to get their hands on them!

Really? That's so unfair stamps her foot in frustration. I was thinking of NAP last year and was most disappointed they wouldn't ship to Ireland. I don't think it was even a brexit thing as I seem to recall the same in previous years but as internal to the EU I was able to use a parcel forwarding service without being hammered with taxes and charges.

Just went and checked - they seem to ship to Ireland now. Fingers crossed they will do so for the advent calendar too.

MidnightMeltdown · 16/08/2022 13:16

Oh that's good @OchonAgusOchonOh hopefully you won't have a problem this year 🤞

What I've noticed from sending things to Australia (eBay items and gifts for family) is that they don't seem to get the high import charges that we get here. Maybe that's why Aussies have been willing to buy calendars from the UK.

They claim they deliver duty paid so there should no extra import charges at delivery.

Mind you, things become more expensive to import here when the item is above €150. It's just VAT below that, and the seller will have removed UK VAT, so not hugely different. Once it goes over €150 duty is added on unless its country of origin is the UK, which of course is not the case for most of the products in an advent calendar.

The Australian government is obviously much nicer.

MidnightMeltdown · 16/08/2022 14:20

Ah ok. I've just noticed that whenever I send an expensive item to Australia, there seems to be no issue, but whenever I've bought from Australia, I've been clobbered with high charges when it arrives, so I don't buy anymore!

I don't know what the story is with UK charges but I assume it's similar to Ireland. Wonder why Aus doesn't do the same.

@WhatTheFuckingHell I am not sure what thread number we are on... I hijacked this thread back in 2015 and each time one fills up, I open a new one... nearly always a few posts before we get to the capacity of 1000.... but do not always make it in time 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Thank you @Experiment627 - I have another trip to UK booked for November - I fear huge Christmas shopping will be in order Grin. Everything is so much cheaper than here so would be rude not take advantage and support the economy.

Experiment627 · 17/08/2022 03:43

@FiveShelties you definitely cannot be rude! #enabler

IHateHeatWaves · 17/08/2022 08:49

I just discovered this thread. Hope you don’t mind me jumping in.

My name is HeatWaves and I buy and hoard toiletries and makeup. My weak spots are special offers, and marketing that suggests I’ll look like Monica Bellucci if I buy it. I compare it to buying cakes if I’m upset. I do this too. I also hoard cleaning products, books that I don’t read and clothes that I don’t wear. Need other threads.

I’m currently on holiday in the UK and I am ploughing through the 3 bags of toiletries stash that I’ve brought to use in the downtime I’ve got. So far, so good. I’m keeping the empties to get £5 off new stuff (Christmas presents).

Here’s what I need to get through in the next week. I’m feeling very pampered. Been doing the whole hog every day. Got 4 empties so far: Olaplex no:8, Veet Hair Removal Cream, Olaplex oil and a Sanctuary salt scrub.

@MidnightMeltdown - I can’t understand the next day delivery thing here in Aus. Even if they have a warehouse here (possible, I suppose), the distances are so great between cities I can’t see it happening. If you lived in a regional area, it could still take weeks!
I imagine Aussie YouTubers are buying from UK. We get the dregs of holiday sets too.
