This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

Sorry meant to say:

@PomRuns I am totes excited for advent season too

@Fraaahnces I am glad it is not CV. Hope you get better soon 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 I had some chicken noodle soup and it made me feel way better- hope you have access to the TLC and meds needed.

Experiment627 · 02/06/2022 07:52

@Fraaahnces working when unwell is not good!

Fraaahnces · 02/06/2022 08:03

@Experiment627 Thanks so much… Soup is something I have been jamming into myself since before I knew I had whatever bug it was. Couldn’t get enough Miso and mushroom soup. Weird… I must have known! Am feeling better today. Just low-grade, residual sniffles. DD2 who actually DOES have CV is also feeling better. She has been mainlining juice and sweets. We don’t normally have either in the house and it’s stopping this weekend as I don’t want that to become a thing round here.
I’ve been trying to work out what I would want from USA… Especially Ulta. All I could think of was the Nabla eyeshadows I ordered from Beauty Bay that never showed up. Oooh and the Futuredew from Glossier. Both things I know you can get any time in UK. Maybe some Colourpop. Would prob be better to order that online and have it delivered to your sister’s. Potentially just as easy to have it sent home. Are you having a great time?

Experiment627 · 02/06/2022 12:45

@Fraaahnces so glad you are on the mend
Yes I don't usually have juice around as so laden with calories but so nice to have some when under the weather.

I did not see Glossier and I was after a Sunday Riley kit I had seen online at Ulta but I think it was a fairly small store.. that said I still managed a decent haul. I really considered getting some Colourpop - I saw a beautiful palette- but talked myself out of it as I have sooooooo many palettes*. My nephew (who came with me & who had experienced Sephora the day before WITHOUT ME!!) asked which I preferred and I said Ulta - less in your face than Sephora. Anyhoo thank God Ulta is not in the UK as I would basically live there.

After snapping my haul I went through it more slowly - bit miffed to see a number of creams containing the UK/EU banned silicone cyclopentasiloxane...

Asterix: if you @Fraaahnces or anyone else says Colourpop is amazeballs... I may have to go back!!!!

Experiment627 · 02/06/2022 15:11

I have another empty:

  • Sanex biomeperfect dermo shower gel 50ml: this was fine - only bought as travel size
Boppertini · 02/06/2022 20:27

Preciously silent lurker jumping in - hope that’s okay! I’ve been working through my stash of products (mainly from advent calendars and Liberty beauty drop) and I am starting to wonder whether I should reduce the influx of new samples/products and instead just repurchase what I know works for me?
I’m on the fence as I’ve found some amazing products through GWP and calendars etc and I don’t want to miss out - but it can also feel like a “chore” to finish some of them..
Anyone else on the fence whether it’s still fun and worth it for the joy of trying new things - or if it’s a waste and the money would be better spent repurchasing what we now know works?

declutteringmymind · 02/06/2022 21:06

@Experiment627 your haul looks amazing. Even though you've splashed out, you've done it mindfully so can't wait to hear the reviews!

@Fraaahnces hope work was kind to you, and at least it's not covid.

@Boppertini I'm like this. I finish everything of one thing and I'm reluctant to start something new. I've changed my hair serum to the olaplex oil and I just regret it. It's tricky. That's why the gwp are so good. I use them for travel and to try out new things.....but I always get left with things I won't need or use.

Nouveaunew · 02/06/2022 21:09

@Boppertini Yeah I agree with you. I’m sucking through my stash too and I do think the money would be better spent on a few quality products than on all the advent calendars and beauty boxes.

Empties:
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser for Dry Skin

I thought this was a good value, non-irritating cleanser that worked well for a first cleanse. I probably won’t RP right now as it didn’t create enough tension on my skin. I worked my way through the largest one though and it’s very easy to use with the pump.

The Ordinary Retinol 1%
I used this on my hands as they are really aging. It was OK. I don’t think I’ll RP

The Body Shop Mango Body Butter
Smooth, soft, smells amazing, didn’t irritate and it’s cruelty-free. Will definitely RP. I loved it.

Jason Thin to Thick Shampoo
i think this helped my hair loss. I can’t RP already as I’ve so much to work through but I will soon.

Nouveaunew · 02/06/2022 21:10

working not sucking

Nouveaunew · 02/06/2022 21:12

Another empty

Carter Beauty Half Measure Foundation
this is so lovely and dewy. I can’t wait to RP (but got to work through my foundations stash first … honestly, I think I need to stop buying beauty boxes and Advent calendars!).

Fraaahnces · 03/06/2022 03:23

@Experiment627 Colorpop has SOME amazing products, lots of “they’re fine” products and a few crap ones. I think given the wide array of choices available in UK, I would think about it for cheaper alternatives for things you use occasionally, like a body highlighter or sparkly body oil for summer. Maybe blushes in shades you would love to try, etc. If you have a hole in your palette range, the Supershock eyeshadows, highlighters and blushes are really lovely. Trying in store is great. The quality of the eye quads is better than the big pans. Lipstick, etc too subjective for me to share an opinion about. I work as a HCP and have a mask on all the time. I’m all about my Laneige Lip Mask, but the Pooh Bear range in “Hunny” pots looked adorable.
@declutteringmymind Back at work since yesterday not loving the early mornings. (Never, ever will!) I am CV neg, but given the number of swabs we’ve been doing today, suspect there is a big outbreak about to start here with Influenza A & Covid in this neck of the woods… bleurgh

PomRuns · 03/06/2022 15:20

@Experiment627 Lovely haul, hope you are having an amazing time.
@Fraaahnces Hope you feel better
@OchonAgusOchonOh my resolve did not last, figure can use on holiday..!
@Boppertini I think of this too, I need to work through my stash first, I'm making a note in my planner of things I will repurchase but I get a bit over excited with advent calendars, maybe I can be strict and get 1 this year.

spacemasks apparently this was meant to be an 'Interstellar experience' I didn't like how they heated up. A resounding emperors new clothes from me, wasn't relaxing and couldn't see any benefit whatsoever.

L'occitane shea shower gel 100mls, like and never mind when they are in a GWP. Wouldn't purchase myself though.

Malin+Goetz rum hand and body wash 30mls (was in a Liberty box). Loved this. Not sure would repurchase due to price.

Suqqu multi skin protector spa 50 - left a white sheen and went a bit 'muddy' when I was in the pool (DS said what's on your face mummy!), used on arms in the end but hard to rub in even there.

Dermalogica intense eye cream Liked it, eye area felt tight when I didn't use. have others to get through but would consider purchasing.

Margaret Dabbs Foot hygiene cream, was like a balm rather than a cream. I liked it but Flexitol is just as good for a quarter of the price.

76/100
10 Sachets.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 03/06/2022 15:29

@PomRuns Sorry for enabling youGrin

Caggie09 · 03/06/2022 15:43

Half way through the year! Crazy! Hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday!

  • BS Strawberry conditioner. I like it, but i got bored of it. Shampoo is nearly done too.
  • Le Petit Marseillais Vanilla shower gel. I love these shower gels and will continue to buy forever! The UK shower gels just seem boring and doesnt compare to these at all!
  • Le Petit Marseillais spray lotion. Quick and easy for getting ready in the morning. I tried to find these when i was in France, but just couldnt find them!
  • Tan Luxe SuperGlow body. Now the suns out, id like to feel less pale. I got through a few bottles of this last year. It gives a lovely glow, without being streaky or too dark. I mix with my usual body lotion.
  • Jane Scrivner nourshing cleansing balm mini. I took part in an online facial, and this was apart of it. My skin feels super soft when i used this, almost like it coated my skin; but not in that awful need to wash off "coat"🤣
  • Murad Essential C Cleanser. It was okay for the morning, neither love or hate!

Welcome to the thread @Boppertini !!!

Thanks @declutteringmymind 💜 am kicking myself I did not stock up on Aquaphor lip balm 🙈

Thanks @Fraaahnces you are so knowledgeable 😘

Thanks @PomRuns - we fly back today 😭😭😭

I have three empties:

  • Boots Ingredients salicylic acid cleanser: not my fave - does not apply easily
  • The Ordinary shampoo and conditioner: LOVE both!!! So happy to now have a few shampoos and conditioners that work for me!
clary · 04/06/2022 09:20

Morning all! Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday.
A few empties from me:
This works deep sleep bath soak - not great and deffo not worth £17. Still looking for my bath HG.
Farmacy Green Clean - from CB AC - I loved this it was really good at getting my make up off. May RP.
Escentric 05 - from F&M AC - liked this but not going to RP
Lumene oil and berry cocktail - gift from lovely friend, liked the fragrance and it felt good on, possible rp.
Odacite wild carrot serum - one of the big hitters price-wise from the CB advent but I wasn't a fan, smelt yucky and did little.
3Lab WW Cream - from the F&M Ac OMG I love this! So smoothing and smells great and feels fantastic. This pot was worth £100 tho so I highly doubt I will RP.

I've been very good and sat on my hands for all the GWPs so I have got a stash that is reducing, slowly. :)

clary · 04/06/2022 09:21

Ooh missed off the Goldfaden eye cream, I really like this and think it makes a difference. This tube was very small tho and lasted not very long (bought as par of a set inc facial scrub, which is good it must be said) so may RP on its own

CherryMargo · 05/06/2022 02:35

Happy Jubilee weekend, everyone! 👑

@Caggie09 and @Experiment627 your hauls look fab! 😍

@clary 3LAB WW Cream costs £421 on the Feelunique website 😱

@Fraaahnces wishing you and your DD a speedy recovery! Flowers

My May empties were as follows:

  1. Malin + Goetz Peppermint Shampoo (10 ml; my Space NK birthday gift from 2021) – a mildly foaming transparent shampoo with an intense peppermint scent. It effectively removes dirt and oil from the scalp and hair without any drying or stripping. You don’t need much of it either, so this small sample lasted me quite a while. I loved how soft and tame it made my hair, too! If I didn’t find the smell of peppermint oil so unpleasant, I’d definitely purchase the full size.

  2. milk_shake Energizing Blend Shampoo (10 ml; £1.49) – a mildly foaming transparent shampoo with an intense scent of rosemary, sage and eucalyptus, which (thankfully) does not persist after you rinse your hair. This shampoo is designed to combat hair thinning, and the before and after photos I saw online were rather impressive! I've decided to purchase the full size, and test it properly.

  3. milk_shake Colour Maintainer Shampoo (10 ml; £1.49) – a highly foaming pearlescent shampoo with an intense scent of cookies and cream milkshake. It was really effective at keeping my hair colour (it’s ice blonde balayage at the moment) fresh and vibrant, even though it contained some amount of SLS. I think I will purchase the full size once I am through the rest of my shampoo stash.

  4. Meow Meow Tweet Baking Soda Free Deodorant Stick (Grapefruit) (50 g; £15.25) – my ultimate HG.

  5. Medik8 r-Retinoate Youth Activating Cream Intense (50 ml; £210) – it expired in February 2021. A bright orange cream smelling of... surprise, surprise... oranges 🍊 I bought this product after being very impressed by its predecessor, Medik8 r-Retinoate Youth Activating Cream Day & Night. Unfortunately, I didn’t see a significantly better result, so I won't RP.

  6. Sisley-Paris Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream (4 ml; GWP) – a lightweight beige cream with a delicate rose and magnolia scent and with a very noticeable moisturising and plumping effect. Unfortunately, my skin could not cope with shea nut butter and jojoba oils, and started to break out after the second application. I still powered through the sample, as I loved how youthful and well-rested it made me look (even on the days when I had only four hours of sleep!). For obvious reasons, I won’t be purchasing the full-size jar.

  7. Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara (Black) (8 g; gifted to me by a friend) – I wasn’t expecting any miracles but ended up being absolutely blown away by its high-gloss finish, intense pigmentation and top-notch quality 😍 It never clumped up, never flacked, never smudged (even when I cried!), and did such a great job on my lower lashes that I’ve decided to keep the wand! If I don’t find a better mascara in my stash, I will purchase this one, I think.

  8. Yves Rocher Comme Une Evidence Eau de Parfum Intense (0.7 ml; GWP) – this fragrance was launched in July 2013, so my sample might have been nine years old 🙈 I don’t care for soapy rose scents, so I'm not going to buy the full size.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 05/06/2022 14:12

This week's empties -

boots ingredients bakuchiol serum. I like this one and will rp

REN ever calm day cream. I liked this. It felt very moisturising.

Caudalié toner. To be honest, a toner is a toner as far as I'm concerned. Smells lovely and since I started splashing on instead of using a pad, it lasts much longer. I only use a pad these days if I've had make-up on and want to remove any final traces.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/06/2022 14:40

Finished
30ml Alpha H 24 hours cream , really nice
I am using Alpha H exclusively apart from some M&S Balm but once that's done I'll buy the Alpha H balm.

Going out :
Revolution eyeshadow pallette -( the one named after the Cannabis themes ) colours were ok but went on quite heavy . And the glitter ones were literally chunks of glitter , I was terrified I'd get it in my eyes Shock
I have got a very ancient Sleek palette that I like but its heavy on the grey/mauve . I'm looking for gold/bronze/sand/green

Two Eden perfume samples
Dupe of Clinique Aromatics smells vile , even after the settling on my skin period . And unlike most of them , it lingers
Dupe of Calvin Klein Obsession- if I really concentrate I can sort of pick up the note of what could pass for Obsession. But not enough to make me wear it .

I have another 5 Eden sprays that I like though . Quite nice to pick one at random and spritz .

Experiment627 · 05/06/2022 16:29

@OchonAgusOchonOh I really like that serum too although hard to judge if doing anything for wrinkles.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 05/06/2022 16:32

@OchonAgusOchonOh I really like that serum too although hard to judge if doing anything for wrinkles.

I don't think anything other than a face lift will do anything for the wrinkles but it is nice and it's pretty cheap.

Experiment627 · 05/06/2022 20:07

@OchonAgusOchonOh 😭😭😭

I have an empty:

  • Superdrug Me+ Hyaluronic Acid cleanser: I prefer this to the CeraVe one, pump bottle handy for the shower.
PomRuns · 05/06/2022 20:54

Hope everyone had a great jubilee weekend.

3 empties:
Aureila cell repair night oil. Love this, hydrating, smoothing and smells lovely.

Dermalogica hydra blur primer. really effective, already have a new one.

bare minerals prime time. Was fine. No idea why I had two primers on the go …

79/100
10 sachets
