Snag Tights email

Fully prepared to get slaughtered for this but here goes.

I've bought tights from Snag before (and really like them) so I'm obviously on their mailing list. I'm a shortarsed size 16-18 so very far from a supermodel.

They've emailed this morning to advertise their new knicker range with images of women wearing them in all their glory and it really wasn't what I wanted in my inbox on a Friday morning. My own wobbly cellulite covered arse is bad enough, I don't need to look at other people's.

It feels like the whole 'body positivity' thing is going too far to me, I'm all for people being comfortable in their own skin but does that have to involve sharing it with the rest of the world? Leaving aside the fact it's not generally healthy to be over a certain size - and that includes me.

I’m with @Puffalicious. I just want some tights that stay up and don’t fall down or cut in. I’m a size 12 and not represented by the brand whose marketing is putting me off. Don’t mind the different shapes, sizes and ability of the models but I don’t want to see too much in the pictures. Plus need to see more diversity of models as ironically they have moved more to one type

But lots of us on the thread aren’t liking the arse cracks and upskirt marketing shots, which is a shame because maybe we might otherwise be their market, but then if they’ve decided we aren’t, that’s OK too. there is nothing outrageously porny though. Nothing. You go on the snag website and of course theres fat women and women in wheelchairs etc, and the fact you can see their underwear is because theyre selling the underwear. They are showing it to be playful. snagtights.com/

My God Wolford have changed

I didn't even realise they did all sizes, I see the ads all the time and assumed they were over size 18 only. I am quite tall and have to buy a large for length but they are loose at the top. I wouldnt feel represented by this brand I'd assume they aren't for me

Also - what has happened to brown opaque tights? I went all over York city centre and could I find any? Yes, in Browns, Aristoc costing £22 a pair. M&S seem to have stopped making them. Everything, everywhere, is black, black, black and black.

I've bought from bettertights.com, they seem to have the same ethos as Snag but without the overly porny advertising (that I've seen anyway). I have some of their 80 denier tights and they seem to be exactly the same. Maybe made in the same factory as the Snag ones?

I hate Wolford and Snag equally. No thanks!

Manzi tights on Amazon come in brown.

I have posted this before, but having purchased both Snag & Manzi tights, the Manzi win hands down for quality. They also do plus sizes, but I have to confess I have no idea how large they go up to.

I didnt say they were a plus size company, but that is by far their main demographic - straight size women can buy tights anywhere - their niche is for those who cannot.

Buttery, what does 'straight size women' mean? You keep using that phrase, what is the alternative to 'straight size' ? Do enlighten me.

Some people also use mid size which is in between straight and plus sizing so 14-18 ish depending on height
Straight sizing would be 6-16 generally

But then sometimes in fashion/clothing plus size is 14+

Thanks for the explanation. I thought it might be something like that. It's a very strange use of the word straight, especially when it is usually used societally as relating to sexuality. Seems quite divisive, a kind of 'them' & 'us' phrasing.

Yeah I don't really know what the other wording is that could be used because "normal" is then saying that a size 18 or a size 20 isn't
I'm mid size to plus size and find the mid size name helpful because I can search for that on Instagram and find people with similar shapes and sizing to me
Really it should just be inclusive sizing and incorporate every size but I recognise that isn't realistic for some small businesses

I'm not a plus size but I'm very tall.
I most certainly cannot fit any standard high street sizes.
Snags fit me perfectly.

I used to love the company, I even promoted it and supported them when they had cash flow problems early in lockdown. I really struggle with them now. I can't openly support them and I've blocked their advertising.

Definitely not from the same factory. They are similar but not the same. They are ok. I do find I have to hitch them up occasionally which I never have to do with snags. Much better advertising though. I do tell people about these.

Lol! If that's their marketing strategy, it is going to backfire, big time. Hence the majority of responses on the thread. Because of the grim way the photos are done, nobody wants to see that.

Try Falke. Their tights are good quality, don't bobble, don't ladder, so pay for themselves, and actually fit normal sized women who aren't as short as a borrower.

I don’t know if anyone has seen their latest ad on FB, but it’s promoting their S&M collection launch tomorrow. The video is as bad as you might imagine. I’ve already written to Snag to tell them what I think. I’m done.
