Would you buy a Hermes bag if you had the money?

If you had enough money for it to be a viable purchase would you buy a Birkin?

It's supposedly the holy grail but just wandered if you would ever consider if you had funds to do so?

No because I don't like them, they're too stuffy and uptight and they remind me of margaret thatcher.

But i'd buy a loewe hammock or a bottega Veneta arco or a saint laurent 'niki' or a louis Vuitton Alma in patent
Or a gucci horsebit 'jackie'

Loads of bags I love.

DramaAlpaca · 18/12/2021 23:29

No, I'm not keen on them.

Redshoeblueshoe · 18/12/2021 23:29

No.

WimpoleHat · 18/12/2021 23:31

No.

cpox · 18/12/2021 23:32

No, I would consider the Hermes Kelly though

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 18/12/2021 23:34

No. I don’t like them and never have done. I’d buy a Bottega Veneta.

MissCruellaDeVil · 18/12/2021 23:35

No, I have a bag charm by Hermes and that was expensive enough! I have plenty of Louis, Gucci and Chanel bags that are much better value for money than any birkin bag.

nicesausages · 18/12/2021 23:35

Yes!
But I really object to paying that much on a handbag - a high proportion of the cost of the bag is their marketing. So give me the same quality bag, so strip out all the unnecessary costs, I get a better price and a top quality bag Grin
But that will never happen

UserBot314 · 18/12/2021 23:40

I meant the Jackie 1961.

I want two of those, one in the traditional gucci design and one in black

Coronado2 · 18/12/2021 23:44

No, because I don't buy leather

metalkprettyoneday · 18/12/2021 23:54

No, I have my eye on these soft leather bags which are made by hand by a woman in my city in her home studio . You can go round and select the colour of the leather , the lining and then she makes it for you. I feel like this is more ‘ luxurious’ than a big brand . And about £200 for a one off unique hand made bag.

No, particularly the Birken. Jane Birken and her daughter are both extremely irritating.

I wouldn't buy Louis Vuitton. The obvious logos are horrible.

caringcarer · 19/12/2021 00:28

No, there is loads more stuff I'd prefer to any bag.

Kiitos · 19/12/2021 00:32

No. Gone are the days when I would think a designer handbag is a good use of money. I still like quality things but I’m just not interested in handbags anymore. These days I much prefer to have nice stuff that’s not recognisable/designer.

claracluck1978 · 19/12/2021 00:35

Yes

Could also be tempted by the Evelyne

I was so excited opening an Hermes box at Valentines. Small as it was, I thought it may be a purse. It was a v v v well packaged lipstick my DP bought me!

BebesChamber · 19/12/2021 00:37

I have Birkin 35. Its too heavy for me to use. Will be re-selling it and I should be able to earn a few grand off it. They are good investment pieces as they will never lose value.

CornflowerBlue62 · 19/12/2021 00:38

I like the look of them, but I’m too careless, ugly and rural to own something that expensive.

Plus I read on another thread that you have to be interviewed before they allow you onto the waiting list, which sounds far too exhausting.

So no. I’d stick to admiring them

PurpleMauve · 19/12/2021 00:39

No.
But you should buy it if that’s what you want to spend your hard earned money on.

MajorCarolDanvers · 19/12/2021 00:40

I do have the money but I wouldn't spend it on a bag. Ever.

PickAChew · 19/12/2021 00:42

No.

Divebar2021 · 19/12/2021 00:44

No I can’t imagine spending that kind of money on a bag… it makes me think of ladies who lunch and the WAGs back in the day wearing their bags on the crooks of their arms.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 19/12/2021 00:45

No. I love handbags that look nice but shove it on the floor when out at dinner or at work. I can’t tell the difference between designer and those from Tesco or Accessorize… I obviously have no class but I’m fine with that. £1k + on a bag feels vulgar/crass to me but I know others get enjoyment from them. We’re all different.

Skinnytailedsquirrel · 19/12/2021 00:46

No. I wouldn't buy them if they were in the 90% off sale price. Ugly fashion.

Divebar2021 · 19/12/2021 00:46

OPs money isn’t necessarily hard earned… but if she’s got it she’s free to spend it on whatever she wants.

madisonbridges · 19/12/2021 00:51

No. I don't get this thing about labels. If something's nice, it's nice regardless of who made it. My sister once bought me a designer sports bag. It was the ugliest thing I'd ever seen. But apparently that was countered by the fact that it was a designer bag. Ugh.

And I'm pretty harsh on bags so I want to be able to chuck them out and replace them without tearing up over my bank account.
