I need talking out of getting this dress

Rocket1982 · 09/12/2021 20:06

I've seen pictures of this dress popping up everywhere (probably because I clicked on it) and now it's reduced! I like the style, the colour palette and the length. I think I like the pattern. I'm not sold on the sleeves. Do you like it? I shouldn't get it, should I? I don't exactly need any dresses and I think I am falling prey to social media marketing algorithms.

Erm, I am not the best person to respond because I love it and that is that!

Bellafrenum · 09/12/2021 20:08

I like it, but don't like the sleeves and I don't love the length. It's a nice dress but if you don't need a new dress it isn't worth it.

HailAdrian · 09/12/2021 20:08

Well, if you have any events coming up and you're thinking 'I'd love a new dress for that' AND you can comfortably afford it, go for it !

pictish · 09/12/2021 20:09

It’s nice but I don’t like the ruffle at the wrist, it would flounce around and annoy me.

Jingers5 · 09/12/2021 20:10

Buy it, you know you want to 😁

thefirstmrsrochester · 09/12/2021 20:12

Oh it’s lovely, so I’m firmly in the ‘get it’ camp.

CovidFreeChristmas · 09/12/2021 20:12

I love it on the model! But on a real person I imagine it looking very "granny's curtains"

CheeseMaiden · 09/12/2021 20:13

I’m sorry I don’t love it, the pattern is nice but the fabric looks cheap.

IAmTheLovechildOfYvesAndIsabel · 09/12/2021 20:15

Seriously, if you can afford to get it and you love it, why not? You can always return it if you don't like it in person ( if you don't like the fit I mean 😁) but it looks pretty flattering to me.
It's one of those dresses that you can dress up with jewellery and shoes but equally you could wear it with tights, cardigan and boots.
You say you don't "need" another dress and of course that is technically true but sometimes the joy you get from swishing about in a dress like that is exactly what you need and joy is contagious so you're performing a public service really!

schoolsoutforever · 09/12/2021 20:15

It’s fine/OK but pricier IMO than it looks. Especially as it’s on discount. I’d expect to pay £40ish for an Oasis dress in Viscose in that style. There’s not a huge amount of expensive material there.

Lammysaurus · 09/12/2021 20:19

@CheeseMaiden

I’m sorry I don’t love it, the pattern is nice but the fabric looks cheap.
The fabric IS cheap: Shell: 81% Viscose 19% Metallised Fibre. Lining 100% Polyester. It's still overpriced at £53, even with 40% off.

That said, I like the colour and pattern and the length is OK, although I'd prefer no frill. I don't mind the sleeves. The elasticised bodice from neck to waist, though, will look awkward on anyone not pretty much completely flat-chested.

If you're hesitating, maybe it's not great for you? Are you able to try it on, or willing and able to return if it doesn't work?

fluffythedragonslayer · 09/12/2021 20:24

I love it. Sorry OP 😁

Chrysanthemum5 · 09/12/2021 20:25

I really like it so I say Buy It!

Iamthewombat · 09/12/2021 20:26

@fluffythedragonslayer

I love it. Sorry OP 😁
I don’t love it. Sorry OP!
Fritilleries · 09/12/2021 20:27

Ugh. The sleeves are horrible. The pattern and colour are lovely but the sleeves would upset me and mean the dress would go unworn.

stalkersaga · 09/12/2021 20:28

It's not my taste, but it's neither wildly expensive nor wildly impractical, so if you can afford it and it would give you pleasure, go for it.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 09/12/2021 20:28

I like it and have lots of similar dresses, I get loads of wear out of them.

Onlinedilema · 09/12/2021 20:28

I am totally the wrong person to ask. I have been known to buy 4 dresses in one week.
If course you don't NEED it. You don't need any form of make up or perfume either but that's not the point is it?
I like it. I'd buy it.

Sleephappy · 09/12/2021 20:43

I think it looks like a carpet ! Don’t like it

ByTheNine · 09/12/2021 20:50

I bought a similar dress from Oasis that looked great in the pictures but like an absolute rag when it turned up. The fabric was tissue thin and it was so screwed up in the packaging that I don't think it would ever have flattened out.

Rocket1982 · 09/12/2021 20:53

Well this thread has stopped me buying it for 45 minutes at least :). I agree that given the fabric it seems overpriced. When I first saw it I liked it but saw the £89 price tag and couldn't believe it for an Oasis dress. I used to like Oasis when they had shops but I really wish they would have reviews on their site as it makes me nervous about buying anything. Maybe it will get reduced further...?

It looks a bit frumpy.

hivemindneeded · 09/12/2021 20:55

I like it, although I must admit it looks like the kind of thing I buy on Shein for £14. If you have good legs, it will look great. I love the ruched front and the colour.

Tonkerbea · 09/12/2021 20:56

I think a full bodice of shirring is tricky to wear. Very low stock left too. It's quite nice though!

Wiredforsound · 09/12/2021 20:57

That’s a lovely dress.
