I need talking out of getting this dress

I've seen pictures of this dress popping up everywhere (probably because I clicked on it) and now it's reduced! I like the style, the colour palette and the length. I think I like the pattern. I'm not sold on the sleeves. Do you like it? I shouldn't get it, should I? I don't exactly need any dresses and I think I am falling prey to social media marketing algorithms.

The sleeves would annoy me but what would really put me off is that high neck. It is too high and will cut into you irritatingly every time you look down. I would spend my time pulling at it.

M0rT · 10/12/2021 10:57

The neck and the shirred bodice will be unflattering if your not a size 6-8 with no bust.
I love this style so know that from disappointed experience.

Bunce1 · 10/12/2021 11:01

Too many frou frous

Gypsy hem
Very patterned
Frilly sleeves
Frou frou stitching on the bodice.

It’s a bit all over the shop!

mewkins · 10/12/2021 11:56

Oasis and Warehouse are pissing me off. They have upped the prices so that can offer 40 or 50 PC off constantly and make people forget that their dresses all used to be around £40 usually anyway. Grrrr.

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 10/12/2021 12:00

It’s the sort of dress my almost six year old daughter or one of her mates would wear to a party

TheCreamCaker · 10/12/2021 12:42

It reminds me of some carpets or curtains in a care home.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 10/12/2021 12:44

I’d wear it visiting family on Boxing Day (if I didn’t already have too any dresses), I love prints.

Tee20x · 10/12/2021 12:48

I hope you've bought it by now. I love the sleeves.

sillysmiles · 10/12/2021 12:50

Unless you are super slim - that would look frumpy on anyone with boobs or anything above a size 8-10. I think.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 10/12/2021 14:38

I really like it OP. It's very similar to a dress I bought from them last month. I think it really just depends on your personal style though. The dress I got below is very me. However, it wouldn't suit most people I don't think, or be most people's cup of tea. But is similar in style to the one you posted.

I can tell you though that the frilly cuffs on the sleeves are slightly annoying. But I have a sewing machine and will be shortening the frill by half so its not as flappy. The shirred bust is generally very flattering, unless you have really gigantic boobs. I have a very large bust, and an hour glass shape. These type of dresses suit me quite well as they nip in at the waist. Because the neck on this one is so high (yours is not as high), I wear a bra that doesn't push my boobs up so high, so they look a bit smaller.

I'd say get it, because it's much more versatile than the one I got. Yours would look great with ankle boots or knee high boots.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 10/12/2021 14:38

Forgot the dress 🤦‍♀️

Also meant to say that Oasis change the prices of their products on an almost daily basis. They've got so many different sales, and app exclusives. If you buy through the app you'll likely dave another 10-20% depending on the promotion they've got that day

Amelion · 10/12/2021 14:44

Looks a bit cheap to me. And definitely granny’s curtains. I’m not sure it would do anyone any favours.

Rocket1982 · 10/12/2021 14:56

I did buy it Blush. Thanks to everyone who tried to talk me out of it and also thanks to the ones who were encouraging. I think the low stock and sale end time pushed me over the edge. I will report back...

Dated and hideous, it doesn't even look good on the model which says it all really

Ddot · 10/12/2021 17:41

Sorry looks cheap and its not

Ddot · 10/12/2021 17:42

Ooops see you bought it, its lovely 😖

Rocket1982 · 10/12/2021 17:46

Haha! I get that this style is probably a bit like marmite. I'm always attracted to clothes that look like my grandma's sofa, but other people run away from them!

User2638483 · 10/12/2021 17:47

Well.. I think the print looks really weird because of the shirring,
And agree flimsy for the price!
Does that help? 🤷‍♀️

User2638483 · 10/12/2021 17:48

Oops sorry should’ve read to the end 😆
If you love it you were right to buy it, it’s quite unique and could probably be dressed up or down

hotfroth · 10/12/2021 17:56

Too short and the waist is too high. Lovely fabric and colours though, and I quite like the sleeves.

CambsAlways · 10/12/2021 18:45

If you love it op then go for it, but I’m no fan as it reminds me of grandmothers curtains

Cotswoldmama · 10/12/2021 19:11

It's quite expensive for something not that special. I don't like the frill on the sleeves or on the bottom of the skirt. The length is odd too. If that frill wasn't on the bottom it would be a nicer length.

Bossbaby12z · 10/12/2021 21:19

Love it, would definately get it.. think I might get it too!

Practicebeingpatient · 10/12/2021 21:26

The sleeves are an easy fix. Any high street alterations place could made them shorter or cuffed or tapered. It would add £10/£20 to the cost though.
