Hello. So good to see the thread back on.
I’m coming to the end of a 10day Covid isolation. No symptoms thankfully, but it was boring!!!
Maighaud I’m a more is more type of woman, can’t give you any advice on a capsule wardrobe.
Dream sorry for your loss.
Mara I can totally see you in that floral, high necked blouse of dreams. Fabulous.

shopafrolic · 19/01/2022 10:08

Show them the skirt I found for you @DryWhiteagainW

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2022 22:40

voilá love it so much. Style and colour. Very versatile. I love autumn colours. Have lots to go with it. Shop strikes again.

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2022 22:42

Oh and epic clothing malfunction at work.......not only did I have my fly down but a collègue very kindly whispered that I’d split my trousers and was showing my bum to everyone Shock and Blush.......luckily the humans I work with wouldn’t even notice this and I had a long blazer on!!!!!!!!!!!

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2022 22:56

Just ordered top to go with the khaki skirt

Everyonelovessparkles · 20/01/2022 12:26

Great skirt dry and shop.

Oh no dry Blush though sounds like you got away with it!

whysorude · 20/01/2022 22:23

Whoever mentioned Sugarhill, gods darn you! I only went and bought a dress that I really, really don't need, but it looked so nice and had pockets and dinosaurs...

maradesbois · 24/01/2022 19:01

Oh no @DryWhiteagainW, I was in isolation over the holidays (at pils so properly isolated in bedroom), felt like prison! Hope you weren’t too ill.

Ikwym @Everyonelovessparkles about gym stuff on = exercise at some point! Also prefer grey cardigan but like both. Gutted that a cashmere equipment cardigan i got from outnet lost a button on first wear, hate it when buttons not sewn on properly. Not even spare thread provided so I’ll have to find the right colour, a faff!

I ended up with the blue cardigan. I bought the grey but was toying with which size to get, typically the one I got was way too big but then they’d sold out of the smaller one. I’m pleased with the blue one. It’s very cosy and will look nice with jeans or my leather skirt and maybe even that tan suede skirt I wore to my first MU.

We’ve booked a summer holiday so I can’t wait to start looking for a few new summer dresses. Though not sure really where to look. I was reading another thread about the quality of oasis and warehouse and it made me think how many shops I used to rely on have either disappeared or the quality has just dropped massively (but not the price) and everything just looks the same - places like ted baker, Karen Millen, Reiss, warehouse and oasis. I still have some really distinct pieces from places like Karen Millen and Ted Baker which were pricey at the time but they are still like brand new 10years on. I know there are places like the outnet now but sometimes I wonder whether you are just paying for the brand….Any way, I guess this is also part of the reason I haven’t bought much - sometimes I just don’t know where to look!

DryWhiteagainW · 24/01/2022 22:01

I’m with you Everyone . I feel retail hasn’t come back since Covid . Online shopping is so difficult, I’m returning so much because it looks awful when I get it. Like you, I don’t know where to look now.

Everyonelovessparkles · 25/01/2022 10:24

I think you are right dry. The high street was already in a precarious position pre-covid but so many shops are now closing or have gone online only. I think online is good when you know exactly what you want and where from or even if you are just browsing though sites like net-a-Porter or the outnet. But there is sometimes too much choice! There can be over 1000 dresses on the John Lewis site and even though you can filter there is still a lot of choice. And sometimes you don’t know which size and who wants to order double of everything and pay out twice?
I do like reading the blog midlifechic. My style is different to her’s so I don’t really read it for ‘fashion inspiration’ but she is very knowledgable about retail and I like her take on how to adapt trends. She does showcase different / upcoming brands which is interesting. She talks a lot about baujken which looks like a nice brand, not overly cheap, more high end high st prices, but they are meant to good quality as well as ethical and sustainable etc I haven’t bought anything from there as some of it quite formal / dressy which i don’t have much need for at the moment.
I did buy a few things from hush last year (a couple of skirts and jumpers) but I find them quite hit and miss. I also bought a couple of easy day skirts from M&S - ones that I can wear spring / autumn with a jumper or in summer with a tshirt and that are washable! I wore these quite a lot and they were about £20 whereas I saw similar in mint velvet for £70!!
Talking of the high street, I read that the top shop on Oxford Circus is going to be an Ikea!

Hi everyone, hope you don’t mind me tagging on. I wasn’t going to buy anything this YEAR, but I’ve loved the Anine Bing tiger sweatshirt for ages and found it reduced. Still pricey for a sweatshirt, but it’s so soft, I think I’ll love it forever. Is it classic or passé though? www.flannels.com/anine-bing-tiger-sweatshirt-661666

shopafrolic · 25/01/2022 20:24

Hopefully classic @Nomorefuckstogive as I have the tShirt Smile

shopafrolic · 25/01/2022 20:30
Grin
Nomorefuckstogive · 25/01/2022 21:54

Thanks @shopafrolic - I’ve been mulling it over for a very long time & haven’t gone off it, so hopefully I won’t anytime soon. Lovely quality sweat IMO & I feel great in it. Hope you like as much as the T x

Everyonelovessparkles · 26/01/2022 10:14

It’s not everyone’s taste but I think this dress is so pretty. If only I had a spare £1000 lying around Grin D&G dress

shopafrolic · 26/01/2022 14:38

Super speedy delivery from Flannels, love the sweatshirt, definite keeper. Thanks for linking @Nomorefuckstogive Smile

DryWhiteagainW · 26/01/2022 22:05

Having said that though I managed to bag myself this cropped leather jacket In the sale to wear With dresses. Being a short arse my Massimo Dutti tan jacket looks good with trousers but awful with skirts and dresses. This one is perfect. Much neater

Stokey · 27/01/2022 17:57

Ladies hello!! Happy new year! I didn't realise you were back.

Hope everyone is well. Not much fashion news but did buy [https://www.mimiberry.co.uk/collections/autumn-winter-sale/products/orla-grainy-bordeaux a Mimi Berry bag] in the sales. The colour is much more wine than in the picture, but it's a lovely small bag and happy to support a small brand.

Have also got a few Whistles bits on the way, and am very tempted by that tiger sweatshirt!

Stokey · 27/01/2022 17:58

Link fail Mimi bag

Nomorefuckstogive · 27/01/2022 22:04

@shopafrolic happy you like 😊

twitterusername · 28/01/2022 23:14

I am a M&S leggings fan, with Seasalt tunic and long line cardigan with any type of boots person at the moment. Size 18, 52 years

Stokey · 29/01/2022 08:19

@whysorude interested to know what the fabric is like on the Sugarhill dress. I see them advertised a lot on Wolf & Badger and have been tempted. I also love the way they have a whole section on their website called dresses with pockets.

Hi @twitterusername, I'm more into long dresses or wide trousers at the moment but can see the appeal of tunics and leggings.

Best of my Whistles haul was a green leopard shirt. Will wear it with black cropped flares or denim wide legged jeans.

DryWhiteagainW · 29/01/2022 08:35

Nice Stokey
Wore my olive green pleather Aline midi to work with the COS top, felt great.

Stokey · 29/01/2022 09:03

I can picture you in that Dry. Great outfit! M&S have done some nice stuff recently.
