@shopafrolic that wasn't what I had in mind, but they are absolutely gorgeous, sometimes you need someone else to tell you what you actually want!!!

shopafrolic · 19/10/2021 19:52

More of a neutral check

shopafrolic · 19/10/2021 19:54

Love this too

maradesbois · 19/10/2021 22:24

Evening Voguettes,

@DryWhiteagainW thanks for your lovely words on end of last thread. Miss you 🥰

@SummaLuvin I love an oversized blazer. I have this which is so oversize it is more like a coat but I love it. Haven’t worn it yet this year but will be a good autumn coat before it gets freezing.

@shopafrolic I’m not keen on the boots but adore that purple coat for you💜. Also really like the shape of the M&S one & think it would look v different styled by you.

Got my nails done today for the first time since before the first lockdown, a true red shellac which feels quite seasonal.

@Stokey glad you like your jeans. Have a couple of frame pairs from outnet in my bag, still thinking about it.

I brought this Blazer a little while ago, maybe this is something to look at?

SummaLuvin · 20/10/2021 08:31

thanks for all the blazer links, @maradesbois you're link was what I had been picturing in my head. It is out of stock, but given it's Harrods I probably would have been searching out a dupe anyway...

I got my nails done for a wedding recently, and had my first ever French manicure, I love it!! However, my manicurist is stead fast in her opinion that there is no look more classy and striking than perfect, glossy red nails.

shopafrolic · 20/10/2021 17:10

Just back from Milton Keynes and a trip to the opticians again as they got my prescription wrong so my glasses are going back to get different lenses.
While I was there I had a look round Jigsaw. They have some really beautiful pieces in store and seem to have really upped their game. Sali Hughes tempted me with this post so I bought this green silk shirt.
Other things I saw and loved included:
Green rib roll neck
Gorgeous colour purple cashmere which was thick and soft
Incredible fuschia pink cashmere
Herringbone coat
The whole store looked really cohesive and had some absolutely gorgeous bits. Will definitely go back.

NeedWineNow · 20/10/2021 21:27

Can I join in? I spent a lot of lockdown not getting anything and then have had recent splurges.

We've just had a new Zara open opposite our office, recent purchases are these trousers in black
www.zara.com/uk/en/woman-trousers-paperbag-l2234.html

this shirt in green to go with some Hobbs boots that my boss bought me for my birthday

www.zara.com/uk/en/satin-shirt-p07969242.html?v1=141218619&v2=1882793🍹

And a black jumper to replace a Other Stories one that has seen better days (can't find it in the website!)

Pheebs2021 · 20/10/2021 21:52

Hello @NeedWineNow
I couldn't resist the temptation having a clothes shop so close to my office would be too tempting!

NeedWineNow · 20/10/2021 22:06

Hi @Pheebs2021 it's a welcome addition to the Temple of Retail opposite us, but some serious willpower is going to be neededGrin

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/10/2021 22:10

Hello, I hope no-one minds me popping in. I’ve a meal out next Friday and feel quite stuck on what to wear since I spent last A/W in jeans and chunky knits, working in my chilly kitchen. Help!

I’ve ordered this wrap cardi thing which I could wear with black jeans, or with a leather mini-ish skirt. It’s a steak place and fairly casual, and I live somewhere cold. Other option is a fine-knit slightly sparkly black polo neck from Whistles? I have lots of nice midi dresses but they all seem a bit summery now. I’d wear jewellery, red lipstick, and one of my numerous faux fur coats.

I’m 5ft 6 and a size 10, if that helps. I didn’t want to start a new thread because some of them seem to get quite catty at the mo, so apologies for crashing in!

I have bought these recently, along with some other sleeveless jumpers and wrap around cardigans and have just ordered this Boden coat in blue. This is me in the Other Stories dress.

Pheebs2021 · 20/10/2021 22:11

Don't suppose anybody knows what 'normal high street' size a zara xxl is please?

Pheebs2021 · 20/10/2021 22:12

@AnnieSnap you look fab in that dress.
If I was to put it on I would look like a bag of wonky spuds.

AnnieSnap · 20/10/2021 22:39

@Pheebs2021 I bet you wouldn’t. The nipped-in waist is so naturally flattering. Unfortunately, I bought it when the new season stuff first came in stock (because I loved it and was afraid it would sell out) and have lost weight since. It’s a bit big now, especially on the boobs and arms, so thank you for saying it looks nice 🙂

Stokey · 21/10/2021 09:32

Hi @AnnieSnap @Judystilldreamsofhorses & @NeedWineNow.

I like the Boden teddy coat @AnnieSnap. Was just thinking that if we're going to have another winter sitting outside, a coloured coat mattress a big difference. Also loved the purple one that Shop linked.

Like those paperbag trousers from Zara too. Did they come up long @NeedWineNow? Just had to send back some Zara jeans as they're way too long, but I am only 5ft3.

Judy your outfits sound very black! I think I'd want something to break up the black jumper & black jeans/leather mini. I'm quite a fan of a midi dress with black polo underneath and maybe cardie over?

@shopafrolic I had the completely opposite reaction when I went into a Jigsaw the other day. My thoughts were it felt a bit old and like it didn't really know who it's target audience was - intense dance music playing but Hobbs like clothes. Just shows how different impressions can be. That said I really like the stuff you linked so maybe I just wasn't in the right mood. I had also walked through Stories thinking there was nothing I liked, and normally that is one of my go to brands.

shopafrolic · 21/10/2021 10:00

@Stokey how funny abut Jigsaw - no music in the one I went to (that I noticed anyway), really lovely and light and just beautifully laid out. All the brights and cool tones were at the front of the store, and things got more neutral, caramel tones towards the back. It all just flowed really well. The images on the website aren't great though, the knitwear looked much nicer IRL and was gorgeous to touch.
@Judystilldreamsofhorses I finds it so hard getting dressed to go out now after so long at home, I've definitely lost my mojo. I am a big fan of black so any of your outfits sounds great with a bright lip. My default if in doubt is always skinny jeans, nice top, blazer and heels. I have a faux fur for when it gets really chilly. Enjoy your night. Smile
@AnnieSnap You look fab inbox the dress, it works really well with the boots too
@NeedWineNow (great username!) It's lethal having great shops near the office, I used to work just off Oxford St, not good for the bank balance. Love your green shirt too, we're clearly bang on trend.
@Pheebs2021I'm not sure on a Zara XXL but there size guide and fins your size calculations and measurements are usually pretty accurate.
Talking of Zara - Halloween outfits anyone? Alien chic.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/10/2021 11:02

@Stokey you are right about the black - I do have a dark green leather skirt, and obviously blue jeans. Another option would be a leopard print midi dress which I could layer a heat-tech top under.

@shopafrolic I am fine for going out for lunch, but night seems like a different ballgame! I’m in Scotland so we still have more restrictions than England, plus now the vaccine passports, so I just haven’t bothered. This is a family meal for BIL’s birthday so no wriggling out of it. I am probably just over thinking all of it.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 21/10/2021 11:39

waves to Judy hello lovely!

im all for all black but soemtimes you do need a bit of colour, especially if black is not one of your best colours near your face but im in black most of the time!! i think 90% of my wardrobe is black now!!

Love the green silk shirt shop i can see you looking fab in it Smile

shopafrolic · 21/10/2021 14:17

Thanks @OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack hope you're doing ok. Smile
@Judystilldreamsofhorses lunches do definitely seem easier.
The Outnet clearance has just begun, I am sitting on my hands as I have bought too much recently but I'm sorely tempted by a few bits.

Pheebs2021 · 21/10/2021 18:08

Oh @shopafrolic I was blissfully unaware of the outlet sale, now I am considering a purse iv seen :-)

shopafrolic · 21/10/2021 18:08

Sorry @Pheebs2021 this thread gets you like that….Smile

AnnieSnap · 21/10/2021 20:19

Thank you @shopafrolic (great user name)

@Stokey my Boden coat arrived today and I love it. It’s beautifully made. The fabric is gorgeous, soft and cosy and it’s single breasted, which I find more flattering than double breasted.
