Happy New Year lovely voguettes!

Lovely to see this going

New items here include APC grey cashmere jumper, NaP intarsia jumper and a very new item for me a wool cap hat. I seem to get compliments including dc which is a test and it’s next level in wardrobe Grin

We had a lovely Christmas but also a fabulous NYE party for dd’s birthday. We were soooo lucky as we thought it would be cancelled, even managed to get entertainment and put dc in garden running around as so mild. Whilst adults had a social time with prosecco ;

Garden has green shoots, all dc back to school by Monday, next chapter

shopafrolic · 07/01/2022 17:31

@Maighnuad I'm not sure about the red star but you may have some luck on this website to hunt them down? I've never bothered with a capsule wardrobe but my understanding is that it would be more day to day pieces rather than sports, underwear or occasion wear.
You must get your pick of shoes and boots with size 3 feet. I know @CarolineBringley swears by Russell & Bromley kids for some things - not sure what size they go to.

shopafrolic · 07/01/2022 17:34

@maradesbois nice to see you lovely.
I got a few bits in the sales / as Christmas gifts. New boots from Stories which I can't recall if I linked. A couple of pairs of 7FAM jeans having forgotten how well they fit me. And a new Rains long length puffer jacket.
I also picked up this Bella Freud sweatshirt at 70% off which I was pleased with.

shopafrolic · 07/01/2022 17:36

I was also sale stalking this top but the medium has sold out in the last 24 hours since final reductions :(

CarolineBringley · 08/01/2022 10:33

Nice to see you @MarshaBradyo!

@shopafrolic that top is so you!

@Maighnuad I am size 3 feet as well, nice to see a fellow dinky personGrin. Shop is right, I swear by R&B boots (I size up and get 3.5s) so that would be my first port of call for really well made long lasting boots which will last you multiple seasons. I have everything from ankle boots, shoe boots, biker boots and long boots from R&B.

On capsule wardrobes, you need to compartmentalise your life into capsules. So what I wear for work isn't necessary what i would wear for casual or for going out. What are the basics you need for work and then out of work? Also the point of a capsule is to have a good few quality pieces that you can wear repeatedly and go with everything and I think to do that you need to know your body shape and colours that suit you. You're petite but are you long waisted (so your torso is long) or short waisted (your legs are normal length but your torso is short). What season colour are you - spring, summer, autumn or winter?

A simple smart casual winter capsule for me would be:

2 good pairs of jeans (one black, one blue), a plain black or white layering top, 2 sweaters (1 neutral, 1 black or grey), a cardigan, stripped tee, a printed top, a plaid shirt (eg Rails), joggers for relaxing at home, a wool dress, long black boots, shorter ankle/flat/shoe boots, a long tan coat and a parka.

Proper fitting bras are an absolute must!Grin Again if I was doing basic capsule I would have 3 bra and knicker sets - white, black and neutral and then buy extra matching knickers with each set. I am a jewellery person so i would also have a watch, earrings, necklace, and a bracelet that would work both casually and in more formal situations.

I reckon the above is pretty much my weekend wear for hanging around and also going out with friends/dinner/theatre plus would cover casual wear for work at home.

I wouldn't include an outfit for a special occasion in a capsule but I would have my exercise gear capsule (Nike dri fit crop top, 1 vest, 1 t-shirt, 1 pair of shorts and 1 pair of running cropped leggings and trainers).

Just my opinions but hope that helps!

maradesbois · 09/01/2022 11:31

Lol at ‘I am a jewellery person’ @CarolineBringley - understatement of the year thus far Grin

@Maighnuad 👋🏻 I’ve tried and failed to find your boots but am now intrigued! Let us know if you manage to identify the brand. I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe full of good basics but supplemented by pieces that just make your heart sing or are very of the moment that you want to try etc.

@MarshaBradyo your NYE sounds lovely and reminded me we need to organise prosecco mu at the ‘local’ 🥂.

@shopafrolic love your Christmas gifts/sale purchases. I love BF jumpers and she does a good sale, would love the fairytale of NY one but think it is too £££ at full price. Have this cashmere roll neck in grey from sales a couple of years ago which has managed to avoid the moths so far.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 09/01/2022 12:27

Agree @maradesbois her sales are good and I often pick her stuff up at Anna as well. I have this Love Hurts one
Interesting that you mention the Fairytale of New York one as I have style stalked that for a couple of years now and it never seems to get reduced. :(

maradesbois · 09/01/2022 13:15

I know @shopafrolic but to be fair I only start looking out for it in run up to Christmas when it will never be reduced. Will share with you if I ever find it for a bargainous price. My cashmere one was £130 reduced from over £400 so am prepared for the long game Grin

OP posts:
CarolineBringley · 09/01/2022 14:11

That’s some pretty good bargain hunting stalking @maradesbois!

Dd has arranged to meet a friend for lunch and because it’s a fair distance, I have driven her here. So I am now in a café while she is having lunch. I feeling like I have just dropped her off at a kiddie partyGrin. On the brighter side it gave me the excuse to wear my new Me&Em sweater!

Maighnuad · 10/01/2022 09:28

Ladies thanks for your replies - I am now looking at R&B and also found this page onthespike.com/?s=capsule which seems to give some good guidance on capsule wardrobes - just need that clear out to beat all clear outs!
Still pursuit of the star soled boots - I will keep looking they will not beat me !

libertyonhertravels · 11/01/2022 07:54

Just a quick drop in to say Happy New Year everyone Smile

Dreamqueen · 12/01/2022 17:59

MNV I need your help please. I couldn't find this thread. I had to ask Shop where it had disappeared to. We've had a bereavement and I need a funeral dress. Unfortunately I've put on Covid lbs and am now 11 st with no hope of fitting into my usual black outfit anytime soon. Please can you find me a suitable outfit. I'm 5'2" 11 stone and apple shaped at the moment.

sorry that this post has been all about me but I'm panicking at the moment about what to wear. Thank you

maradesbois · 12/01/2022 20:14

Happy New Year @libertyonhertravels Smile

And to you @Dreamqueen. Very sorry for your loss. For black dress I’d look at Cos, have filtered on a selection here. Think some of these are elegant and versatile.

Dreamqueen · 13/01/2022 06:16

Thank you Mara

shopafrolic · 13/01/2022 22:23

Cos is a great call @maradesbois and would really suit you @Dreamqueen
As I said on Messenger a black silk blouse and tailored trousers would also work.

shopafrolic · 13/01/2022 22:27

Arket might also be worth a look

CarolineBringley · 14/01/2022 08:26

Really sorry to hear about your loss @Dreamqueen. Haven’t had a chance to look but given your height, you might want to look at Hobbs or Next petite. The Cos dresses are great but be careful you don’t go too “long” as if it’s not a petite cut it might swamp you. Back later x

VivaVegas · 14/01/2022 11:24

Sorry for your loss @Dreamqueen

I've only made a few sale purchases.

Have just ordered these lovely looking shoes after seeing them on an Instagram blogger. Arriving Monday so keen to see what they're like but would be good with black trousers and shirt when I'm back in the office again or with jeans for a more casual look.

Have also taken delivery of this Whistles sweatshirt but not had a chance to try it yet.

Nothing from Mint Velvet which is unusual for me!

shopafrolic · 17/01/2022 12:24

@everyonelovessparkles here we are x

Everyonelovessparkles · 17/01/2022 12:55

Thanks shop.

Hello ladies! Hope you are all doing ok.

Sorry to hear about your loss dream, funeral outfits are never nice to look for. Are you looking for separates or a dress?

I dropped off the thread as, probably like many of you, with working from home and no where to go I didn’t really need any new clothes! I did buy a midi length leopard print skirt by Kate spade from the outnet which I have worn quite a lot and a sparkley mini from M&S which i wore over Xmas. Other than that I have been mainly buying gym stuff or hiking stuff (not very vogue!)

Did you hear if blair had her baby?

Nice to know the thread is still going, I’ll try to post more as I did always enjoy reading your updates and looking at the links.

Take care. x

maradesbois · 18/01/2022 18:06

Hey @Everyonelovessparkles 👋🏻, lovely to hear from you. Agree about lockdown being a thread killer, don’t think clothes were on anyone’s radar. I’m now trying not to wfh in joggers/sweats either as it just makes me feel meh.

OP posts:
Everyonelovessparkles · 18/01/2022 19:38

Lovely to hear from you mara. I always find it easier to wear ‘proper’ clothes in summer. In winter being comfortable and warm are my top priorities. I’ve also got into the habit of wearing my gym stuff first thing as an incentive to do my exercises…. Doesn’t always work though Grin

I have some John Lewis spend and quite like the look of these cardigans from their and/or range. I’m just not sure which one to go for as think they have different purposes. grey boyfriend Or blue shorter. I’m leaning towards the grey but I do like the blue colour….

shopafrolic · 18/01/2022 20:48

I prefer the grey @Everyonelovessparkles :)

Everyonelovessparkles · 18/01/2022 21:19

I went for the grey! See what it’s like tomorrow Smile

VivaVegas · 18/01/2022 22:21

I like both of them @Everyonelovessparkles

I rarely buy a cardigan, very tempted now having seen those!
