When you are in your round the house clothes, would you look presentable if someone knocked the door?

I just caught sight of myself in the mirror. Baggy leopard print pyjama bottoms, oversized t-shirt, fleecy top over as I am cold, sheepskin slippers, scruffy ponytail, old mascara.

If anyone called, I would panic!

I think I need to invest in some nice ‘loungewear’ or make sure I’m at least in jeans for the day even if I’m not going out.

(Note: I am clean)

Nope, usually due to no bra and the habit of spilling food down myself

MadMadMadamMim · 16/10/2021 11:13

I'm ok. I've got jeans and a shirt on. No make up and haven't brushed my hair, but I'd happily answer the door.

I'm not overly bothered about how I look, though.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 16/10/2021 11:13

Although I’d dress properly during the day. Mine is my evening attire

RubyFowler · 16/10/2021 11:14

I do get dressed properly every day, but admittedly today not until about half an hour ago.
I also do my make up every day even if not going out. Not sure why really. Just a little bit so I have eyebrows!

Mantlemoose · 16/10/2021 11:14

Never if nit working! Currently couched still in dressing gown unbrushed hair and cosy blanket with coffee, chocolate digestive and watching murder she wrote.

Mantlemoose

What a brilliant morning!

Mantlemoose · 16/10/2021 11:15

Not bothered about answering the door though if they don't like what they see I don't care!

eurochick · 16/10/2021 11:15

I'd be ok. I'm usually in jeans and a top.

CremeEggThief · 16/10/2021 11:18

I don't care about this kind of thing, although I draw the line at going outside the back yard in my nightwear. Loads of people where I live go everywhere in their pajamas though.

In fact, the plumber actually laughed at me a few months ago when I answered the door more than half asleep to him at about 9.30 a.m., and asked if he wanted me to come back and if I needed a bit more time! I told him no, 'cos I was going back to bed and to give me a shout when he'd finished!Grin

Cornishmumofone · 16/10/2021 11:20

I wear the same clothes around the house as going out. I never go downstairs in my pyjamas and always brush my teeth and wash my hair as soon as I get up. I would hate to slob around. It would make me feel uncomfortable.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 16/10/2021 11:21

Yes, normally wear a casual skirt or dress and cardigan. If too early at the weekend I might be found in my dressing gown, though.

StCharlotte · 16/10/2021 11:25

I usually get dressed as soon as I get up but this morning I was just out of the bath and got caught in my dressing gown by BIL who was picking up DH and always turns up early. You'd think I'd remember after 22 years.

JustFrustrated · 16/10/2021 11:26

Yeah I'd be fine. Currently dressed.

But even of an evening when I'm in comfies, it's just joggers and t-shirt or leggings and blouse.

Even braless theyre fine 😂

Did give the Tesco delivery driver a right eyeful the other night though 😳

LaurieFairyCake · 16/10/2021 11:27

I'm another who doesn't care. I wear pyjamas then have a bath and put clean pyjamas on at weekends (and answer the door when I have to)

Basically if I'm at home im wearing pyjamas

Darkdarknights · 16/10/2021 11:30

I do feel lazy and slovenly if I’m not properly dressed or with no make up on.

Usually spend the day in gym wear as I don’t always change when I get home, then pyjamas after 5/6pm. I honestly don’t care if the postman thinks I’m ‘presentable’ and have a dim view of anyone judging appearances. If I’m not in gym wear I’ll be wearing clothes that I’ve walked the dog in.

SockFluffInTheBath · 16/10/2021 11:31

Old skinnies and a hoodie. Not indecent but I’d think twice about going down the pub Grin

Lndnmummy · 16/10/2021 11:34

I always get changed to lounge wear when i get home and this is what i wear on weekends if not going out. I've got some lounge dresses and some trouser sets. Some are "fancy" as i got them as gifts but most of them are from the likes of uniqlo.

doadeer · 16/10/2021 11:37

Yes I'd always be fine but I do wear lots of yoga leggings/jeans and tops, sometimes jumpsuits. I don't wear makeup anymore and I love it. I wouldnt wear something that was stained though

Ivy48 · 16/10/2021 11:42

The only people
Who knock are usually delivery people so no I don’t care as long as I’m covered. Usually found in pjs and a dressing gown! They’re there for all of 1 minute so I’m not bothered. I’ll happily peg the washing out in my pjs or pop the bins out but that’s it. I WFH and unless there’s a meeting planned then I’m in my pjs or loungewear

ISeeTheLight · 16/10/2021 11:44

Most of the time yes, but that's because I work from home full time and spend 70% of my time on video calls and do the school run in the morning. On a Saturday DD has swimming lessons so again I get dressed ready for that.
On a Sunday though or on days where there's no school/work - nope.

merryhouse · 16/10/2021 11:44

I get dressed once I've had breakfast. I'm not sure I have any "round the house" clothes - though maybe my normal jeans and sweatshirt would be unacceptable outdoor wear to some Grin. Don't wear makeup unless I'm going Out out.

silentpool · 16/10/2021 11:48

During the week (WFH), it's yoga pants plus a nice teeshirt so I look presentable on Zoom. Ratty jersey on top and slippers so it's not all dreadful. Light makeup on, so I won't terrify anyone at the door.

Holidaytan · 16/10/2021 11:49

I roll out of bed and take the dog out in any old scruffs so people coming over is the least of my worries!

2bazookas · 16/10/2021 11:49

I could not care less. If I choose to spend all day in pyjamas (and I quite often do) it would not occur to me to be embarrassed, apologise or make an excuse to any caller. All my neighbours and friends know this and a couple have learned the hard way, finding me sunbathing totally naked in my own back garden, for example.
