When you are in your round the house clothes, would you look presentable if someone knocked the door?

I just caught sight of myself in the mirror. Baggy leopard print pyjama bottoms, oversized t-shirt, fleecy top over as I am cold, sheepskin slippers, scruffy ponytail, old mascara.

If anyone called, I would panic!

I think I need to invest in some nice ‘loungewear’ or make sure I’m at least in jeans for the day even if I’m not going out.

(Note: I am clean)

Nope, the only thing I would be worried about if my boobs wouldn’t be too visible as I am always braless.

ParkheadParadise · 16/10/2021 11:52

Leggings and a hoodie.
I answered the door wrapped in a bright pink fluffy throw the other day to my neighbour. It was trailing on the floor behind me. Dd was holding it pretending she was my bridesmaid 😜😜

TiddleTaddleTat · 16/10/2021 11:52

I'm always fully dressed with a face of makeup, my jewellery, and heels. I can't imagine doing anything else now!

SunsetStyle · 16/10/2021 11:54

I'm up and dressed every morning to walk the dog. So yes, always presentable enough to answer the door. Presentable by my standards anyway in jeans and jumper.

wfrances · 16/10/2021 11:56

Presentable-just !
Black leggings and black oversized T-shirt
Usually wear a mixture of leggings and oversized tshirts, jumpers and shirts at home

GatoradeMeBitch · 16/10/2021 11:58

Nope. I've reached a stage where I need to wear a bra when I leave the house, but at home they are swinging free. Anyone who knocks at the door has to deal with that. And hoicking up my pyjama bottoms every 10 seconds.

Idontlike · 16/10/2021 11:58

I get changed at work and come home in clean, presentable clothes.

When I get home I take my clean presentable clothes off and stick a slobby warm and cosy jumper on and an old pair of jeans. I dread anyone knocking on the door! I’m showered and in my pjs by 7:00pm

mafted · 16/10/2021 12:04

Yes because aside from a massive bobbly cardigan and some ugg boots that don't go further than the bin I don't have round the house clothes. I just have clothes. I don't wear make up unless I'm out out.

I hate pyjamas and I hate walking around not wearing underwear. DD and her boyfriend are always slobbing about in shorts and oodies I grin and bear it but I really don't like it.

echt · 16/10/2021 12:07

I'm dressed when I leave my bedroom. To be sure it's dressed to walk the dog: trackies, warm layers, plaid shirt. It's spring here, so no need for a bra yet.

DuvetDayIsEveryDay · 16/10/2021 12:07

Just had a tescos delivery. I'm wearing a Kidd.ly and mens pj bottoms. Haven't brushed my hair and never wear makeup during the day.

I have a friend who wouldn't open the door without being dressed with full make up.

GoodnightGrandma · 16/10/2021 12:09

I’m wearing a cheap Oodie, leggings and woolly socks. And I don’t care 🤣🤣🤣

lazylinguist · 16/10/2021 12:14

Yes. But I think people have very different ideas of what presentable means!

SirenSays · 16/10/2021 12:27

No, but then I'm pretty much a nudist at home. So at best I'd be wearing kimono or short shorts and crop top ☺️

CosmicComfort · 16/10/2021 12:31

Well my boobs aren’t hanging out and my hair is clean, that’s as good as it gets!

I wouldn’t walk to the shops in my fluffy socks, fleece lined joggers, fluffy top and no make up look but I would answer the door.

We never get any unexpected visitors so it would just be a delivery and I don’t care what random people think.

HeronLanyon · 16/10/2021 12:33

My round the glide clothes are old joggers/runners old t shirt and some kind of old fleece or fleece gillet. Honestly I’m ok with answering in that for deliveries but little else. Pretty disreputable but so what really. Spend my working days in suits etc no way will I worry about what a stranger thinks of my get up when I’m in my own home. If I have friends round I’ll get dressed obvs. I dont tend to have unannounced friends/family.

Lampzade · 16/10/2021 12:35

I usually have a shower. Usually wear jogggers and baggy jumper and put my hair in a ponytail .

giggly · 16/10/2021 12:38

Old paint splattered joggers and vest top here, boobs swinging somewhere near my belly button.
I put a cardigan on though if answering the door to prevent my swinging boobs knocking the postie/ Amazon delivery person out.
I keep.
Thinking I should bin these clothes but then I’d need to “waste” more on the next painting job.

nordica · 16/10/2021 13:15

Clothes are usually fine but I look shit with no make up and hair washed but not styled, so I don't like surprise visitors.

NotImpossible · 16/10/2021 13:20

There have been few occasions when I'd sort of hide my body behind the door and just poke my head around for deliveries! Especially during lockdown - I'd basically change from nightime pyjamas into daytime pyjamas and only really get dressed if I was going out.

I've bought some comfy joggers and Lucy & Yak trousers now so at least I look dressed!

Pheebs2021 · 16/10/2021 14:03

Meh I didn't ask them to knock on my door if they don't like what they see they are welcome to not call again. I work hard for my home I'm not going to spend my off time uncomfortable in it.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 16/10/2021 14:06

@Mantlemoose

Not bothered about answering the door though if they don't like what they see I don't care!
Yeah, this. Clearly I didn't invite them, if I was expecting people I'd at least put a bra on! Delivery people see worse, I'm sure. At least I smile and say thank you.
MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 16/10/2021 14:11

I'm always fully dressed because I hate wearing pyjamas except to go to bed, but that's just personal preference, not because I'd be embarrassed about being seen in them. I worked nightshifts for many years, and had no shame about opening the door in the middle of the day in my night clothes, if I'd been asleep.

Lifeinthescratcher · 16/10/2021 14:14

Jeans… nah you want to be comfy! Who cares!

Clandestin · 16/10/2021 14:20

Jeans are my comfy! I haven't left the house yet today, and am wearing Jeans and Uggs, and an old v-necked jumper over a tshirt.
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/10/2021 20:44

If I’m working from home I am dressed with makeup on and done hair. If it’s a weekend and we aren’t going anywhere I often have a shower/bath and put on fresh loungewear - joggers, jumper, Ugg boots - so clean and presentable, but not what I would choose to entertain visitors in. Like pp, it’s generally just delivery people who don’t care.

MIL used to be a popper which was especially annoying in the summer holidays when I have six weeks off and would often be lounging around, but thankfully Covid has put an end to that and she stopped in the first lockdown.
