Beauty Advent Calendars 2021 Thread 3 - Decisions Decisions! (Spoilers included)

Hope it’s ok to have started the thread as we seemed to run out of the last one a bit quickly! And I was really enjoying the thread and reading everyone’s thoughts.

I started reading the first one determined not to buy one this year.

Currently I have the Rituals one and have just ordered the Origins 12 Day one for the 12 days of Christmas!

Let the chat and decisions continue!

Regarding sorting and sorting like others I have my stash sorted into bags of cleansers, toners etc. Now that travel is back on the cards I will use them up that way.

I have five too 🤣. It's all space nks fault for offering a discount code as I had no intention of buying that one. However I'm planning to make up a calendar for my mum with products that I think she will like/ are targeted at older skin, so not all for me. Plus, I usually eBay the stuff I don't want and buy the products that I want from other calendars with the money.

😀 Phew! Thanks Midnight I feel ok now. And a great idea about making up one for your mum. She will love it! I'm going to share mine with my daughters. Well, when I say share I shall let them open the doors while I keep the products.🤣 They're only eleven so I will let them hold on to the lip balms and hair bobbles.

I know I'm like a stuck record - but does anyone have Lumene, and is are the products as lovely as they look? Even products which are not from the calendar.

I've had it the last 2 or 3 years and really like a lot of their products, a few I've purchased again. I'm not having it this year only because I'm trying to exercise some restraint and stuck to two 'multi brand' calendars: M&S and Fenwick (loved Fenwick last year, so have got it again).

Lumene is a great brand...I got the calendar before and I loved the skincare. The creams felt very luxurious. Definitely get it on offer. It is fantastic value for money.

My cult order turned up! Slightly soggy tbh but the only box that’s damaged if for DH and he won’t mind. Very pleased with what I got and the gwp.

I’m also really please ld I just went for the m n s calendar now I know it’s in a tin. Thank you.

My M&S AC is being delivered on Monday morning. They weren't doing click & collect for it when I ordered.

@OchonAgusOchonOh November 8th was the original date I was given, so yours may turn up sooner too. I was sent an update yesterday that it had been despatched and today Royal Mail sent me a text with its expected delivery time on Monday. The other part of my order arrived yesterday.

I have a question. DM is in Australia. I think she'd love the M& S calendar but they don't do it there and I wouldn't be allowed to post it. Do you think of I bought it & kept it until the summer to give to her, the products would still be ok next Christmas?

Go my M&S calendar in store yesterday! Plenty on display and it gave me chance to look around. It also prompted me to get new bras which is no bad thing. I haven't decided yet whether to open both that and my Next one in December, or keep Next for Jadvent.

@Housewife2010 my M&S advent is arriving Monday also, Cosmetopia has a round up video now for 2021 multi brand with Harrods on top, Space NK is in the tip 5 which I have also got so 2 for me unless something ridiculous happens on Black Friday. I paid full price for the SpaceNK and a 15% off code was mentioned but I do have a habit of deciding and buying when they come out as I find the wait / going out of stock stressful so not too disappointed. @LastSummerHere thanks for making my advent collection look modest!! I am controlled a little by a 6 year old lover of beauty, honestly she can do a pretty good job on lipstick and eyeshadow already worryingly and as a 2 year old had an instinct for Stilla over the revolution stuff I tried to give her, no make up wasn’t as option as she is into it whenever she gets the chance as part of her playing. I don’t want her to grow up to quick or set precedents I can’t back down from so if I have more than 2 I think she will say that is unfair and I should share. I know I have created an issue here just trying to keep a lid on it. She has a painted horse wooden advent with hair bobbles and sweets and a necklace and rubbers in I made her and a lovely sweets advent I got for £5 in Sainsbury’s. Superdrug have a cute mini mouse 12 day on offer but I resisted as she is only 6 and it is a lot of plastic waste really….

It will be fine. I'm still using up a couple of 2019 advent products!

I read somewhere that most beauty products are fine for at least 3 to 5 years if stored correctly (e.g. away from heat) and they are unopened. It's once they've been opened that you need to use them up within the time stated on the packaging.

I think the exception is acid products, which sometimes have an expiry/use by date on the packaging.

My M&S calendar just arrived via Royal Mail. Lovely tin (slight dent in one corner, oh well, it opens fine) and all the little inner boxes seem present and correct so yay! Qualifying spend stuff is coming via Hermes at some indeterminate point in the future…

Bugger. To get m and s or not! I could do with a few bits from m and s did the kids for school so could easily spend 30 quid. What I don’t need however is another calendar! But will I regret not getting it when it goes out of stock!!!?!!
