Beauty Advent Calendars 2021 Thread 3 - Decisions Decisions! (Spoilers included)

Hope it’s ok to have started the thread as we seemed to run out of the last one a bit quickly! And I was really enjoying the thread and reading everyone’s thoughts.

I started reading the first one determined not to buy one this year.

Currently I have the Rituals one and have just ordered the Origins 12 Day one for the 12 days of Christmas!

Let the chat and decisions continue!

Regarding sorting and sorting like others I have my stash sorted into bags of cleansers, toners etc. Now that travel is back on the cards I will use them up that way.

So sorry to hear that, my SpaceNK was suitably heavy, don’t want to ruin the surprise any more than already have reviewed contents before buying but if I have a gap on a day will be raising that. Holland and Barrett had a thing last year when party fell into the box elsewhere but it doesn’t sound like that is what happened @Sodoi

I am in the same boat *@notangelinajolie* they have until tomorrow and I will be leaving negative reviews all over social media. Its absolutely disgusting the way they are treating people.

Ha! @HowToMurderYourLife I think I'll be joining you. Even if that means I have to sign up for social media They are being really unprofessional in getting customers involved in distribution issues. If your carrier is failing to deliver your customers orders - you sort it and find another carrier. And send the customer a replacement.

I got my M&S calendar in store today - and after much faffing about looking around the beauty products (whilst carrying the heavy calendar!) I got a Shay and Blue perfume for £30.

Very pleased and they had plenty of calendars in the shop.

I order the M&S one today (with a jumper and pants, so £40). I wasn’t going to get one, but found, unlike the others out there, this includes so much that I will use, so it’s great value for me.

My christmas edits from CB have arrived. Had a quick look. Lots of big sizes. Really looking forward to setting it up as a calendar.

@Sodoi depending on what the item is you might be able to buy it relatively cheaply on eBay. There are lots of sellers selling items from advent calendars on there and then use the store credit for something else.

Liberty are doing £10 voucher with every £50 spend - so you get £40 if you buy the advent .. it doesn't seem to be shifting as quickly this year ..

Yes I don't think that Liberty has ever been in stock for this long before. The competition is too strong. Liberty seriously need to up their game next year.

In fact I think that this time last year, almost all of the luxury calendars were out of stock. This year, with the exception of space nk, they are all either in stock, or awaiting a restock.

Rant warning.

14 days after I ordered and 13 days after it was despatched into the capable not hands of Hermes, my CB Calendar has still not arrived.

I'm getting really mad now. I'm being given the run around by Cult Beauty and they are fobbing me off. After a 'chat' with someone online, I received an email saying they still hadn't heard back from Hermes and would get back in touch as soon as they have had a response. Seriously? They haven't even given me a response time on the latest email which can only mean they don't hold out much hope.

My contract is with Cult Beauty - not bloody Hermes! I really don't care what Hermes have to say and don't see why I have to wait for Hermes to investigate.

I just want my Calendar. It's not like I'm waiting for a £20 mascara or something, this has cost me £215. From where I'm sitting, they are doing absolutely fuck all about it and I can't even afford to buy a replacement because they have my money.

I am sorry to hear this - FWIW I had an issue with Look Fantastic back in August and until I sent daily messages on their chat and Instagram nothing was resolved - I have to be a terrier - at the time someone on S&B told me they were now part of the same chain - the Hut Group - good luck

I'm sorry to hear some of you are having problems with deliveries or missing items. Even if it gets resolved it takes the shine off the anticipation.
DH and I have remarked several times recently that customer service has become patchy with companies we have dealt with previously with no problems for years.

DS2 managed to get me an M and S calendar this morning, buying himself some interview/ work trousers as the qualifying spend.

I need to step away from these advent calendars this week. My husband bought me the JL advent which is lush and a nice surprise. He is delighted with himself as he knew I wanted it and it was out of stock. I also got the JL beauty box today and next thing I know I’ve bought the M&S one too. They’re just too tempting

My CB edits and the lipstick I bought with the store credit they gave me to compensate for the fact I didn't get the free one with my Bare Minerals order arrived today.

I really liked the look of the freebie but when I was ordering, they didn't have it in stock so I decided to go for a different shade. I chose the one I liked best. Problem was, I confused myself between the free shade and the shade I bought last week so today's lipstick is the exact same one as the one I got last week...

Luckily the colour suits me but I really need to start wearing lipstick again. I haven't really been wearing it much as we are still masked at work so no point unless I'm going out to eat or a pub where I can take the mask off.

@HowToMurderYourLife @notangelinajolie I am also in the same position waiting for my CB advent calendar I got in contact with them via Twitter and they fobbed me off as well saying they were waiting for Hermes to investigate. Really poor customer service and I wouldn’t buy from them again.

Would the missing item from advents maybe share the day that has missing item? We could do little shake or ask DH to check if the item is missing

I’ve given up waiting for S&G which I wanted to get as a gift so I’m looking at ASOS instead but it’s above my gift budget even at the current £60.

If anyone’s after a 12 day calendar - maybe for the Christmas to New Year period if you open two windows a day - then Avon have a decent looking one, currently at £22.50 with free delivery.

But I came to ask should I buy the m and a calendar, is it worth it. I’m twitching wildly and I do need to get my girls pjs anyway...what do you all think?

From a strictly value for money angle then yes, it’s totally worth it, fantastic vfm. However it also depends on whether the contents are things that you will actually use - and only you can know that. I know a lot of people don’t like to look too closely at the contents but you have a whole month to forget so I’d say look, see how many things appeal, and then decide. Also in the plus column, the daily Opening Of The Drawers threads are really fun!

I usually do get myself one and this year I had decided to get myself treatbox - it’s not beauty but I had it a couple of years ago and it was lovely but it’s sold out!

I think I would use m n s - I’ll leave it to fate, if it’s there when I get up I’ll order 😁

It was £55.99 yesterday on the treasure truck deal but looks like that deal is off now
