Beauty Advent Calendars 2021 Thread 3 - Decisions Decisions! (Spoilers included)

Hope it’s ok to have started the thread as we seemed to run out of the last one a bit quickly! And I was really enjoying the thread and reading everyone’s thoughts.

I started reading the first one determined not to buy one this year.

Currently I have the Rituals one and have just ordered the Origins 12 Day one for the 12 days of Christmas!

Let the chat and decisions continue!

Regarding sorting and sorting like others I have my stash sorted into bags of cleansers, toners etc. Now that travel is back on the cards I will use them up that way.

And now I've had a response to the query I raised on the website, saying standard delivery is 3-5 days so I shouldn't have expected to receive it by now and to get back in touch if I haven't received it by 22/10.

I wasn't initially expecting it to be delivered so soon (it said 5-7 days when I ordered) but my account has been saying estimated delivery 17-18th which is why I was concerned it hadn't turned up.

So basically the website estimated delivery dates are just incorrect by the sounds of it. There's loads of people in the same boat on Twitter who they will now be having to reply to, if only the website was correct this could have been avoided!

Latest in Beauty calendar arrived today. A bit disappointing, it's just a plain cardboard box full of items wrapped in white tissue paper each with a number stuck on. I confess I thought there would be drawers Hmm.

I used to love the Latest in Beauty calendar...it was always my favourite. But they seemed to have stopped making as much effort in recent years.

My CB arrived yesterday - after I received an email from CB to say it had been delayed. Was just left outside too but luckily I was in and able to get it straight away. I haven't taken it out of the main box yet but had a quick examine and it hasn't been opened or tampered with. So sorry for those of you this has happened to 😔

My NAP calender arrived and it's beautiful big and so heavy. Something inside it smells amazing too!

Got a message back from Cult Beauty and they have asked me to sign a declaration saying it hadn't arrived. They said their records showed it had been delivered and I pointed out the wonky tracking and the lack of safe space photo as well as not giving them permission to leave anywhere.

@Vargas I've been lurking on these threads, but I think I've got a NAP empty box from last year lurking in the loft. If I have, happy to send it on to you if you don't mind paying for postage - although no guarantee everything will fit!

My CB AC arrived last night. It was two hours after the scheduled time (and four days after the initial delivery date) but the delivery man was lovely and smiley and the AC is finally here. It's very heavy and I'm looking forward to December 1st.

My CB arrived too! The drawer for Day 25 is huge! I’m actually very excited about the fact that some days will have more than 1 item!

I have already started opening my Lumene AC - I bought it mainly to stock up on things. Will open CB and FU in December.

My Neals Yard order (the winter gift box) has arrived - it is shockingly damaged. Royal Mail have stuck a label on it but it was so poorly packaged by the Hut Group - everything had leaked or broken and the cardboard had got so wet it had developed a large hole so items are missing too. This is the second Neals Yard order this year that’s happened to (since their takeover by THG). They’ve offered to refund but I’m not going to risk ordering anything else from them now. The packaging is so poor and shoddy and everything bar the gift box (soaked through by the bath foam and body lotion that have leaked) was just loose with a couple of bits of brown paper. The packaging box was poor quality. I can’t be the only person this has happened to so they must be wasting money with sending out things like this….

The Lumene advent is 25% off on Look Fantastic today, if anyone interested.

I wanted to try Lumene, and might have bought it if it was this price originally (which it should have been!), but I can't justify it now. I have too many other calendars and products. Maybe next year....

I was thinking the same thing. Musing on it, but they are now back up to the original price again anyway.

I wonder if the Lumene website, or LF will do discounts again. It is skincare calendar really (only a little make up), so unusual from that aspect.

I think that it will probably go on sale at some point. It's overpriced for the size of the products inside, and there's a lot of competition, so I can't see it selling out without a discount.

Agreed. I think things are selling out much more slowly than last year - in my view a mixture of more stock being available, less demand overall, and M&S doing a calendar again. My guess is that some calendars will still be in stock by Black Friday, and are very likely to be discounted then, if not before. A few years back calendars like LF and Amazon had good discounts at that point.

Despite a few decidedly unexciting bits, I can easily see that I will get £40 of value from the M&S calendar (and can gift a few bits, like the nail polish Smile to my DDs) so I’ll be getting it. With the weather turning cold, I’m in dire need of new tights, but freezing holding off going to get them till next week.
