Beauty Advent Calendars 2021 Thread 3 - Decisions Decisions! (Spoilers included)

Hope it’s ok to have started the thread as we seemed to run out of the last one a bit quickly! And I was really enjoying the thread and reading everyone’s thoughts.

I started reading the first one determined not to buy one this year.

Currently I have the Rituals one and have just ordered the Origins 12 Day one for the 12 days of Christmas!

Let the chat and decisions continue!

Regarding sorting and sorting like others I have my stash sorted into bags of cleansers, toners etc. Now that travel is back on the cards I will use them up that way.

@Windows01 the Aldi calendar looks a nice mix of products and at £50 means that it must be cheaper than buying all 24 products separately.

The Lumene advent is 25% off on Look Fantastic today, if anyone interested.

chloechloe · 20/10/2021 08:21

I should have held out for longer on Lumene, I bought it at 20% off. Sorry to hear so MB say are having problems with deliveries. My CB calendar should be here today. Fingers crossed!

LoveLabradors · 20/10/2021 09:48

I ordered the Cult beauty More glow and More glam boxes yesterday, but reading this not anticipating them turning up as fast as they used to! Sadly I think Cult will change for the worse now. I don’t think there will be the fab GWP’s anymore either. I’ve never seen as good offers on space nk so I guess on the plus side it will reduce my beauty spending!

Housewife2010 · 20/10/2021 10:24

I really like the CB More Glow box but I'm holding off ordering until the AC turns up. Last year my CB AC arrived the next day.

ajandjjmum · 20/10/2021 10:29

Just had an email about the CB 'Menopause Goody Bag' - free with a £65 spend if anyone's interested. Sadly I'm beyond redemption!

MidnightMeltdown · 20/10/2021 10:56

I wanted to try Lumene, and might have bought it if it was this price originally (which it should have been!), but I can't justify it now. I have too many other calendars and products. Maybe next year....

Peridot1 · 20/10/2021 11:12

Just saw the Cult Beauty menopause goody bag too. Not tempted at all. Am also beyond redemption @ajandjjmum! Also not impressed with the contents tbh. It all seems a bit jump on the bandwagon to me.

Glossybox calendar has arrived! So has the freebie skincare package, but not the subscription box I ordered to get the £20 off the calendar.

Sorry everyone is having such nightmares with CB.

TheDuchessOfMN · 20/10/2021 11:39

I wonder if Cult Beauty will do a ‘Best of 2021’ goody bag, like they did last year? I think it was in November.

Housewife2010 · 20/10/2021 11:43

@ Peridot1 Are you really not tempted by CB's Vaginal Victory Oil? 😆😆

QueefofSheena · 20/10/2021 12:03

DrRamsesEmerson the subscription boxes come separately. I got my calendar yesterday and the box a few days earlier. I’ve got a year’s subscription though so it may take a while to work them through the system.

The October boxes have a Halloween theme, you’ll get one of two different ‘moods’.

I think my vagina has had enough victories in its heyday! Grin

I'm a bit baffled and feeling rather patronised by CB's Menopause goody bag. What a sack of overpriced 'jumping on the bandwagon' products. Menopause magnet? Wtf?!

I'm just about to shell out almost £400 to see a private consultant about menopause. Fuck me. Thank goodness I found out that all I need is some magnets before I spent all that money. Hmm

I agree, I felt similar when I saw this.

I agree. And that's speaking as someone who started HRT this morning!

I'll ask my (exceptionally well-informed re menopause) GP about magnets when I see her in a few weeks. Imagine the saving for the NHS if we could all just be issued with magnets!

Housewife2010 · 20/10/2021 12:47

I asked my doctor yesterday if I could go on HRT. I told her my symptoms but she wouldn't prescribe it as I still have a regular cycle. She suggested I take up yoga instead!

Housewife2010 · 20/10/2021 12:49

Also, back.on topic, the Bobbi Brown AC is now available. The free gifts (apart from the sachet sample) and/or the 15% off when you join the loyalty scheme don't work unfortunately.

Stokey · 20/10/2021 12:57

That's annoying re your GP @Housewife2010. I follow a lady called @Drmenopausecare on Instagram. If you scroll back through her posts she has some good tips of what to say to your GP when they're being unhelpful. Mine keeps sending me for blood tests which is also annoying. I need to chase them again.

ChuddleyCannons · 20/10/2021 12:59

@HundredMilesAnHour it was world menopause day yesterday

Yes I know. So another miss for CB only sending out this 'wonderful' Hmm off a day late.

Thank you. Yes my GP has been pretty useless so I've seen a private GP menopause specialist (paid for by work luckily) and now have a very expensive appt to see Nick Panay, one the top menopause specialists. But of course I'll cancel that now and spend the £400 on magnets and breast rejuvenating oil. Wink
Housewife2010 · 20/10/2021 13:07

@Stokey
Thank you. I'll have a look

I still have a cycle although I wouldn't call it regular but GP said that was fine but I have to do oestrogen every day and then two weeks on/two weeks off for progestron. B*ger bl*dy yoga!

Sorry for derailing....

PomRuns · 20/10/2021 13:39

@Peridot1 too funny ! 😂

My gp also suggested taking to someone when I spoke to her about my peri symptoms. Fabulous.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 20/10/2021 15:43

I have a friend who has just started on HRT and she's raving about it. I haven't had any major symptoms except for poor sleep and dryness but she has persuaded me to give it a go.I can try the patches initially and see.

On a different note, I contacted CB about the free gift I didn't get because they removed it after applying my discount and they gave me store credit to buy the lipstick. They didn't have the same colour in stock but I got another similar one that should suit me too.

So yeeehhh to CB (unless none of your calendars turn up, in which case I'll join you in the boo'ing).
