Beauty Advent Calendars 2021 Thread 3 - Decisions Decisions! (Spoilers included)

Hope it’s ok to have started the thread as we seemed to run out of the last one a bit quickly! And I was really enjoying the thread and reading everyone’s thoughts.

I started reading the first one determined not to buy one this year.

Currently I have the Rituals one and have just ordered the Origins 12 Day one for the 12 days of Christmas!

Let the chat and decisions continue!

Regarding sorting and sorting like others I have my stash sorted into bags of cleansers, toners etc. Now that travel is back on the cards I will use them up that way.

For those of you who don’t want CB at all, it may be worth signing up to the waiting list for the November release as I’ve just been sent 10% a range of stuff (including Benefit and Charlotte Tilbury advent calendars) as a consolation for missing out.

Benefit is already down to £58 (it’s a 12 day one).

I managed to get the CB this morning thankfully!

Then thought I'd get an ASOS one too as there is a 15% discount code if you download the app. Downloaded app and now it says I can't use the code as its only for first time users. So annoying. Maybe Ill just wait for the M&S one - I also fancy Selfridges or JL but doubt there's any way to get any discount on those.....

ASOS regularly have 20% off - I got it with 20% off when it came out - so there will probably be another discount code along before long.

As for CB, I imagine you can buy more than one in separate transactions using the same account, I doubt their system could check for previous purchases. And it wouldn’t be that hard to buy another with a different email address.

I was on handbag years ago and remember posts about one beauty company who cracked down on people selling their stuff on eBay.

Hello, first time poster but long time lurker. I was happy to nab CB this morning after having wasted Tuesday morning waiting for it to drop then.

I need some of your resolve @PomRuns - I’d decided against Harrods......until this morning. It was available when I got up, but by the time I’d got breakfast it had sold out. Now I have FOMO and am obsessively checking the Harrods website for the restock 😂

Same here Luvacuppatea...after feeling so meh about the calendars this year I decided Harrods was the one for me. Only to forget about it until I had been up and about for an hour and by then it was gone!!😭 Determined to get it the next time.

I think I’m going to have to get up extra early tomorrow @LastSummerHere, just in case the calendar comes back into stock over night - I feel that my life is on hold until I get one 😂

Haha....well thanks to my four children my pelvic floor isn't what it was so I get up a couple of times in the night anyway for the loo so I will check in then just in case!! It just looks like pure luxury and I would use all the products I think. If I don't get it M&S will feel very second best.😭

@Luvacuppatea, @LastSummerHere, when I looked at the Harrods website this pm it suggested contacting customer service to purchase; it must be worth a call?

Thank you @AprilLady - I get this page when I look up the advent calendar, which suggests more stock on the way. I’ll hold out for now and see what happens 😊

There must be some proven psychology behind this method of marketing, as so many calendars are being released in ‘drips’ this year. Putting out just a few which then sell out almost immediately and THEN promising ‘more to come’ must increase both desire for the product and FOMO, so when the next release comes anyone who might have been wavering the first time will pounce so as not to miss out again? It’s certainly worked on me, I must be an advertisers dream target 😂

Yes April I noticed that this evening. I am definitely considering it and might give them a bell tomorrow if it doesn't come online by then.

From an email I saw yesterday DH has bought me a jigsaw advent calendar. Who needs potions?

I have realised that there are quite a few bits of make up I need but don’t buy because I feel bad because I’ve spent money on calendars. So I’m going to stalk GWPs and pick my time, and then get some really nice make up for the first time in ages. Especially my favourite mascara (Faux Cils by YSL in auburn) and a really decent couple of non-black non-liquid eyeliners.

I’m holding out for discounts on either JL or Space NK to purchase for my sister.

If not, she’ll get a Malteser calendar and be grateful for it

I have to say the £47 No 7 advent calendar looks good, and better than the more expensive one tbh

However, I already have Space NK and I'll be getting M&S, so I think that's enough...
