I’ve really been wanting one though never owned one before. How do you style yours? Also fake vs real ?

Black leather jackets are life! They can be worn with anything really. I usually pair with a nice scarf, jeans and white trainers. Just a casual look when out and about . I'm a vegan so opt for good quality fake. Recently brought a baby pink leather jacket which is gorgeous x

I ADORE my All Saints leather jacket. It’s black but a soft, vintagey greyey black. I wear it with everything in the Autumn and out in the evenings into the winter.

I get a huge amount of wear out of mine. Make sure it’s a nice close fit, real leather, as good as you can afford.

Mine was about £100 in Topshop 9 years ago when I couldn’t bring myself to get the Whistles one.

I wear it with a red pleated floaty skirt & Vejas. Today I wore it with green yoga pants & a black sweatshirt. Goes with any kind of dress.

There was a bloke in front of me on the tube the other day, and he had a black leather jacket with long, long fringes all across the back and down the arms. I was so jealous. I'd wear one of those in a heartbeat, despite being middle-aged and decidedly frumpy.

I think wearing any iconic style, especially one that - like a leather jacket - is associated with cool, is an exercise in love and fronting it out. You love it so you wear it, and because you are wearing it because you love it, it looks natural on you, and you get away with it.

It's akin to Terry Pratchett's Monks of Cool:
The Monks of Cool, whose tiny and exclusive monastery is hidden in a really cool and laid-back valley in the lower Ramtops, have a passing-out test for a novice. He is taken into a room full of all types of clothing and asked: Yo, my son, which of these is the most stylish thing to wear? And the correct answer is: Hey, whatever I select.

Suzi Quatro’s fat Nan?

I have a non-leather one from TopShop that I've had for quite a few years.

My favourite (and unusual) thing about it is that it's a biker with no top collar. It has lapels but not the collar around your neck. It's just smooth.

I love it because it looks neater and is less bulky with scarves.

Honestly I'm not sure real leather is remotely necessary as long as it's a good quality item.

I've got one of those! Suede with fringe across the back and down the arms. I love it and wear it unashamedly. I'm 34 and don't care that it looks like I fell out of 1983.

This is it. Love love love it.

I have a fake leather one that I've had for years and I love it. I usually wear it with jeans and white trainers when out and about. Also wear it with dark outfits on a night out and it sharpens up the whole look. Love it!

I can 😉.

Seriously, it's a stable item in my wardrobe. Go for it!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2021 02:28

Mine is old, from Oasis and I bloody love it. I feel more 'me' in it than in anything else I own.

DramaAlpaca · 26/09/2021 02:37

Short answer - yes! And fake is fine.

QueenBee52 · 26/09/2021 03:36

No... nobody looks good in them.,

LazyDoll · 26/09/2021 08:09

Not mad on how they’ve styled it here but this is mine.

www.allsaints.com/women/leather/allsaints-vintage-cargo-biker-jacket/

Probably the only think I don’t wear it with is blue denim. Not a fan of blue denim and black leather.

ScumbagDave · 26/09/2021 08:18

Love them on other people. I'm tall and broad, so I look like a Hell's Angel gang member if I wear one!

The floral dress and biker jacket look was done to death a few years ago. The looks suggested on here are better imo.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2021 08:20

QueenBee52
Don't be so fucking ridiculous.

JaninaDuszejko · 26/09/2021 08:25

When they were super trendy a few years ago I persuaded my Mum in her 70s to try one on in M&S. She looked fantastic and really cool but she said 'oh no, it's not for me' so I think it's mainly in people's heads that they don't suit things, not in reality.

ScumbagDave · 26/09/2021 08:42

True Janina and maybe I'd look less manly in one than I imagine...

Truth is I don't really wear jackets. I find them so uncomfortable! I can wear outdoor coats, hoodies and cardis, but not jackets!

But they can look great on other people, especially petite women imo. (That isn't me sadly - petite I ain't Grin)

Rockbird · 26/09/2021 08:45

I've just bought one and I'm short and fat. Used to wear them in my youth and wanted to again. Finally just thought sod it.

mdh2020 · 26/09/2021 08:46

In my 70s and I love my faux leather jacket from M n S. It’s my second one having persuaded my DD into my old one. she looks great too. I wear it with jeans and over dresses. I’ve also been rocking an M N S denim jacket with a bit of stretch in it. Both jackets are so stylish while the friend I go out with has been wearing a lightweight raincoat!

GemmaRuby · 26/09/2021 08:56

I prefer real leather, you can wear it forever and it gets better as it ages. Fake leather can sometimes start to look a bit tatty after a few years.

I’m on the look out for a new one, I’ve just donated my 10 year old leather jacket to a charity shop after finally accepting I’m never going to be the size that I was when I bought it. Very sad day.

schmalex · 26/09/2021 09:59

I think anyone can wear one. I have a gorgeous Kooples one that I got secondhand on Vestiaire. It's very heavy though!

nearlywed21 · 26/09/2021 11:07

I live in the middle of nowhere and work long hours so online shopping is my best bet.. only I have no idea where to start!

What kind of thing should I be looking out for? They just range so much in price so particularly confusing.

I was just going to come on and say try to buy in person if you can. I have a beautiful All Saints biker that I bought online but it was creased quite badly from the packaging. I thought it would naturally decrease but never really has.
