I’ve really been wanting one though never owned one before. How do you style yours? Also fake vs real ?

I have a lovely one from All Saints but it doesn't get worn very often. The weather is always either too hot or too cold (or too wet) plus I find it hard to style. I'm too short and dumpy to wear it with jeans, unfortunately, and it only goes with specific dresses. I wish I could wear it more.

PeakyPaula · 26/09/2021 14:30

@ElspethFlashman

This is it. Love love love it.
I'm looking for something similar to that @ElspethFlashman, do you have a link?
Magpiecomplex · 26/09/2021 14:30

I bought mine from ASOS. I'm tallish, busty and late 40s and very rarely do it up, but I love it and wish I'd bought one years ago!

TrampolineForMrKite · 26/09/2021 14:35

I’ve got this one from Very. Got it in the sale last year. Looks lovely with dresses and white trainers.

PinkTonic · 26/09/2021 14:40

@MrsWooster

Suzi Quatro’s fat Nan?
I thought of that the minute I saw the thread title 😂
Bluntness100 · 26/09/2021 14:40

This is mine from reiss, it’s lovely on

I also have a Forrest green one from jaeger but don’t think it’s available any more. Worth looking at other colours. The dark green one works with most colours.

nearlywed21 · 26/09/2021 14:49

@TrampolineForMrKite ooh thats lovely. I hadn't considered Very! Is it fuss free buying and returning there?

It's a style classic. All Saints have huge choice, and just about affordable in sale (£250 ish though, so still an investment but should last years). Great with dresses in particular.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2021 15:10

They look silly fastened.

I love the Dalby - think that will be my next investment. I've got pink and aubergine All Saints ones. Love the pink and wear it lots.

I honestly think they really suit me - and I don't think I look good in much.

lazylinguist · 26/09/2021 16:02

I like them on lots of other people and am kind of coming round to the idea that I might look ok in one! I don't see what's wrong with @QueenBee52's post though. The thread title is pretty much asking for sweeping statement opinions. If you can have an opinion that leather jackets look great on anyone, then surely you can also have the opposite opinion. It's a matter of taste and preference.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2021 16:05

To say they don't look great on everybody = fine.
To say they look terrible on absolutely everybody is obviously ridiculous.

fruitpastille · 26/09/2021 16:09

Sainsburys have got some in at the moment. 30 quid. Maybe not the most amazing but maybe good to try out before you invest in a fancier one.

Blossomtoes · 26/09/2021 16:09

I love mine. It was silly money from Jaeger about six years ago and it still looks good as new. I’m 68 so it’ll see me out!

lazylinguist · 26/09/2021 16:13

Of course it's not ridiculous if you don’t like the look of leather jackets! I expect most of us have certain garments or styles of clothes that we never like the look of, regardless of who's wearing them. I suspect if someone posted saying they thought fascinators, waterfall cardigans or dungarees didn't look good on anyone, lots of people would agree with them.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2021 16:23

Not liking something and saying they look awful everybody is not the same thing.

I've seen people looking very nice in all of the things you mention, even if I wouldn't necessarily wear them myself.

AuldAlliance · 26/09/2021 16:39

@Bluntness100
I've been eyeing up that green Jaeger jacket on the M&S website.
What are size and quality like?
TIA

Bluntness100 · 26/09/2021 17:24

Yes you’re right it’s that exact one @AuldAlliance. I’d say it’s true to size, lots of other leather jackets come up small, for example the reiss one does, if between sizes, size up.

It’s a really good soft leather but holds its shape.

AuldAlliance · 26/09/2021 17:25

Brilliant, thanks!
Now to rob a bank...

Bluntness100 · 26/09/2021 17:28

Also I’d say the marks images don’t really show the colour.

This one does better.

AuldAlliance · 26/09/2021 17:31

Yep, that was the photo that originally caught my eye... have been wondering about the jacket ever since.
Thanks again.

EllaPaella · 26/09/2021 19:46

I have the Allsaints Cargo biker, it's the only one I have ever found that I actually think looks ok on me (aside from an old oxblood leather bomber I had years ago but gave away and regret).
They are funny things.. I think it takes time to find one that really suits you, not every style suits every person.

colouringindoors · 26/09/2021 19:57

Love that AllSaints Dalby...

I bought one about 20 years ago. Lovely leather, but boxy, not fitted enough. I think I'll try and sell it and splash out on a new / new to me one.

Delatron · 26/09/2021 20:00

Ooh I’ve just bought the All Saints Dalby. It’s been about 10 years since I bought my last Super Dry one and it was very battered.

I love it. It’s true there’s a small window to get the wear out of it. Basically now until Nov ish when it gets too cold. Definitely don’t zip it up. I wore mine to a gig recently with a silk slip skirt and an t-shirt.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 26/09/2021 20:01

I have more of a blazer style real leather one which I've had at least 20 years, via a few years when DD had it as I was too fat for it (fits beautifully again now, even with a jumper underneath, and DD didn't really wear it).

I love it - the leather is really soft and real leather looks better with wear. Its also pretty waterproof and windproof for ordinary activities. These days I just wear it with my 501s, a t-shirt or casual shirt and one of two pairs Allbirds sneakers because that's what I live in if I'm not wearing walking gear 90% of the time anyway. Its incredibly practical and I feel good in it, but as it isn't a biker style jacket it probably isn't fashionable.

I do have an actual biker jacket with back protector for riding a motorcycle - too heavy to wear when not on the bike and also not fashionable, though I have my eye on a nicer motogirl one Grin
