You have to choose ONE shop to buy clothes from, for the rest of your life...which shop are you choosing?

It has to be a stand-alone brand, so no asos or zalando type choices.

Mine is a close call between Cos and Uniqlo. I really like that monochromatic, vaguely Japanese, minimalist but striking look. I only rarely achieve it though.

It'll have to be Uniqlo, I don't really have a Cos lifestyle I don't think. I find the clothes aspirational though.

So what are you going for?

Mountain Warehouse

RaspberryThief · 25/09/2021 09:15

Assuming you could buy specialist things like underwear/shoes/outdoor gear elsewhere, then probably Hobbs. Not high fashion but usually good fabrics, a decent range of styles and clothes for different occasions, good for hourglasses, and have even started doing petites. I have lots of wardrobe basics ranging from everyday skirts and tops to workwear and beautiful wool coats from them, and would really miss them if they went under. My only complaint is that their skirts and dresses are often two or three inches too short, especially for things that are clearly designed as workwear, and that's speaking as someone who is not exactly gifted in the height department.

Me and Em. So long as I can also be given the budget to do so!

AuldFox · 25/09/2021 10:29

Toast

I want clothes I could still wear in my 80s.

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/09/2021 10:48

Ooh, tough one. Probably All Saints going by my current wardrobe

StarryStarrySocks · 25/09/2021 10:54

Morrisons. It's where I've bought most of my clothes over the last 18 months and they've done me fine!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 25/09/2021 11:06

Otherwise Fat Face

WrinklesShminkles · 25/09/2021 11:11

M&S as I can shop the men's section as well as the women's.

PleasantBirthday · 25/09/2021 11:12

I'm going to go mumsnet classic and say Boden. It's the place where I can order stuff and its fits, feels comfortable and looks flattering on my old meatbag.

Maireas · 25/09/2021 11:17

I suppose it depends what your job is, if you wfh or are a sahm with toddlers etc.
I'm at work, dress code with no jeans, trainers, casual wear etc so the shop out of necessity has to have a bit more formal clothing.
My favourite is Toast, but maybe I'd go for Jigsaw or Whistles.

Sooverthemill · 25/09/2021 11:21

Sézane probably if you also give me the budget to match

cestunestilo · 25/09/2021 11:27

Uniqlo too but love the idea of Vinted too !!

chimneyswift · 25/09/2021 11:28

Margaret Howell
Brora

StCharlotte · 25/09/2021 11:35

Monsoon although I don't know what they're like for basics so I might have to live in mid budget occasionwear for the rest of my days.

But if I were rich and slim enough then it would be Dior all the way.

WildfirePonie · 25/09/2021 12:06

Freepeople

Grimbelina · 25/09/2021 12:57

Arket... if they closed down it could be & Other Stories if high street.

windmill26 · 25/09/2021 14:19

Hard one! I narrowed it down to 4. Joseph,Cos,Zara or J.Crew.

ScumbagDave · 25/09/2021 14:25

Marks & Spencers. I've always been a fan of their clothes, even when people roundly panned it on Mumsnet! I even like their bras now - they were shite before. Also love their jeans and they are meant to be a bit better than other high street stores in terms of sustainability, I think. I even but from their menswear section.

KirstenBlest · 25/09/2021 14:25

M&S. I'd need underwear and socks and could also buy some food.

WishingYouAMerryChristmasToo · 25/09/2021 14:26

50/50 between sea salt and joules

KirstenBlest · 25/09/2021 14:26

M&S shoes are pretty good for the price.

Spicymisosoup · 25/09/2021 14:42

Interesting answers! I'm definitely going into M&S the next time I walk past it. It seems there's good stuff to be found in there!
