I had a neck and lower facelift 48 hours ago

I thought I’d post on here as it might be of some help to anyone considering the same. I have tried literally everything. Profilo, thread lifts, expensive creams such as strivectin and I was even booked in for Morpheus8 and facetite ( for the neck ) but I cancelled as it was 3k and I didn’t want to waste anymore money and only get a 25 - 30% improvement.

I do actually think that the above would and does work if you have fairly low key laxity but mine came from a 6 stone 3lb weight loss in my mid 40’s and, by 49 my neck was quite bad.

I’ve dabbled in Botox and fillers since I was about 42 and loved the effect they gave me. I wanted to feel more refreshed and look less knackered.

Anyway I found a surgeon who specialised in face and neck lifts ( as well as tummy tucks and breast augmentation ) but the face and neck lifts are usually done by him under a local anaesthetic - I absolutely didn’t want to go under. He does them under a local so as to minimise recovery times and not have to use bandages and drains ect.

Anyway I had the consultation a few months ago and it was booked for the 22nd of September ( he is booked up well in advance ) plus this gave me the chance to save further.

I had the surgery two days ago and within half an hour of it being over I was back in the car and on my way home ( I live 3 hours away from where I had it done ) it was more expensive than having it done locally but I would have had to have gone under and I wanted to avoid that.

He does at least 10 face and neck lifts per week ( I was one of three that day ) and I researched his work throughly. He is one of the top surgeons in this field so I was happy to go with him due to his experience.

Ive put a photo of me taken in the morning in the hotel before I left for the clinic and one half an hour afterward in the car on the way home.

To say after losing all that weight that I was left with no definable chin or jawline that I was upset would be minimising it, I had tried everything before this and used to avoid photos even my DD's wedding in June. I won’t lie I’m bloody over the moon with the results ( so far so good )

My lower face in the after pics is quite swollen still and it’s painful But the painkillers are doing the job though and I’m excited to be 1/2/3/4 weeks post procedure to see the results properly.

Scars will be along the hairline, there is some puckering in the upper incisions ( all completely normal ) but my profile is transformed. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy and I properly 💩 myself when I went into the theatre 😬 but I’m so glad I’ve done it!

I would say if you are very unhappy with your neck or jowls this is a great procedure, I believe that Morpheus8 and facetite can also give very good results too if yours isn’t as bad as mine was, you can pay a lot less than I did if you are happy to go under too.

I shall upload some more photos each week for progression and for anyone that’s considering this to see. I could do with a tummy tuck Ect but I’m not bothered about that as it’s my face that people see, I use Spanx and wonder bras and that works for me 🙂

I see lots of threads on what to do with a saggy neck or jowls, I’m not saying this is what anyone should do in fact I’d advocate trying everything else first, threads can be effective as can Morpheus8 and facetite they just didn’t give me the results I wanted.

I just wanted to post this as I saved for a long time and it wasn’t a quick decision but if you’ve tried everything and it makes you as sad as it made me then I’d say it’s well worth saving for if you can?

Looks fabulous OP! How are you doing???

Can I ask a couple of questions as I’ve been researching the same procedure myself and I am also in the same region as you said you lived in (B). I’m just intrigued by the pricing you mentioned as I can’t find a surgeon anywhere near us that charges less than 10K - can I ask if you met with any local surgeons and had any recommendations/thoughts? There is one I very very much like who charges £13k but just wondered if you had any regional advice? I have no objection to general as I’m far too squeamish to cope with being awake during the procedure as I faint at the sight of blood.

As an aside I did also consider a very famed-UK facelift surgeon but was shocked to be quoted an increase of £8k since initial discussion a few months prior, taking the total to almost £30k!! That felt a bit like opportunism which made me lose confidence in him tbh….

Wagsandclaws · 01/10/2021 20:16

Oh wow that's an awful lot @Thatsnotall ... hmmm tbh I just googled local to me surgeons in Bristol and a few came up in the region of 5,6 and 7k for a facelift. I think that might have been under local though too.

I did see a thread over a year ago now on here where a lady had the same procedure done as me ( well it looked pretty much the same ) and I'm sure it was by a fairly well reputed surgeon in York for about 4K.

The thing is I know that lockdown, Zoom and the pandemic in general has apparently caused a bit of a boom in plastic surgery of late and prices may well reflect that. Gosh it makes my 10.5k seem pretty reasonable when you said how much that surgeon you've in in touch with is asking.

But In answer to your question no I didn't meet anyone else as I specifically wanted it done under local and not that many surgeons will do that. As for being Squeamish you don't see anything at all, there is a bit of noise so to speak but it's not too bad and it means you can get going pretty soon afterwards. He does offer a general too though.

I'm doing good thank you, impatient for the scars to heal so I don't look so odd but I'm a bit of an impatient person in general, I'm ever so pleased and it's made such a difference to how I feel.

I bought a polo neck and a pretty necklace today and I will wear them without feeling self conscious for the first time in a long time.

P.S. I know it's a bit sad that I didn't want to wear those before and for a lot of people it just wouldn't matter but it was the thing I hated most about losing weight, not the bingo wings, not even the lose skin on my legs or the apron tummy it was my neck. We all have our foibles and that sadly was mine.

Your neck procedure looks amazing and thanks for sharing your pics.

BetterthanIthink · 02/10/2021 15:33

You look amazing !! Definitely got me thinking I need to save up for this .
I’ve got Profhilo booked in 2 weeks . Hoping that gives me a little boostGrin

MorrisZapp · 02/10/2021 16:07

Best thread ever! Can you keep posting pics? I had to give all my polo necks to the chazzer, sad times.

TheBullfinch · 02/10/2021 18:23

Amazing OP. Well done! What feedback have you had from friends and family? Do you work? What have colleagues said?

Wagsandclaws · 02/10/2021 21:06

I've heard good thing about Profilo @BetterthanIthink , I had it on my neck twice and it did bugger all tbh but it is supposed to be great for making your face all dewy and lovely, do a before and after!?

@MorrisZapp Polo necks are probably overrated anyway 🤣 I just haven't been able to wear one for a while and they are a lot tighter then I remember 🤔.

@TheBullfinch no i am a sahm atm so no colleagues to show but my grown up DC's are impressed and mostly just happy for me. My eldest Dd took me to the clinic and drove me home and my Dh has been so supportive. He said he didn't care but I did and that's why he's glad as he said I seem so much happier and more confident Smile

I'm seeing a couple of friends on Tuesday and will tell them all about it, I did mention to one of them that I was getting it done ( she's also lost a lot of weight but she wants a tummy tuck as her neck has held up very well! ) so we shall be discussing the pros and cons I expect.

I'll put up another set of pics on weds as it'll have been two weeks by then, the scars are improving all the time and the puckering has improved massively. The shiner I've got under my chin is almost gone and the swelling is now just around my ears, yay!

Wagsandclaws · 02/10/2021 21:11

I also have two ds's aged 8 and 12 and they are a bit miffed at the stitches, I didn't go into detail as they wouldn't care that much I don't think.

Dd aged 29 has been doing the school runs along with Dh whilst the bruising and swelling went down but I'm doing them myself again as of Monday.

Loving your thread OP and will be following! Just wanted to say you look absolutely amazing and so young! I had to re-read the age you posted as you look late 30’s imo, especially the one of you side on in the car. You’re very brave to have had it done under local but totally understand your reasoning even though the cost was higher. Well done and let us know how you get on!

Out of interest do you know if your surgeon does eyes at all? I don’t like the tear troughs under my eyes and would love to get them done

Jellyfishnchips · 02/10/2021 22:07

Can I ask what would put you off a tummy tuck? (Aside from the cost) Is it a difficult surgery to recover from? Or are there problematic possible complications, like nicking the bowel or something?

Wagsandclaws · 02/10/2021 22:18

@Jellyfishnchips I think you can get the tear troughs addressed with fillers - I have had that done and it works really, really well. I have a practitioner that I use who has a clinic near to where I live ( in the west country ) he does my Botox and fillers and I'm really happy with him.

My surgeon is based in Kent although his clinic do all that kind of thing too it would be too far for me to go on a regular basis. He does the Blepharoplasty surgery ( eyelids ) no idea about the surgery that would be needed for tear troughs.

Thank you that's really kind Smile I use retinol and it's great for evening out skin tone ( although I do have some minor thread veins Ect ) I also have stayed out of the sun most of my life - that will probably come back to bite me on the bum though as sunshine is good for your bones!

In all honesty I am scared of having a tummy tuck, I've had two c sections the last one being at nearly 41 and it took me ages to feel ok again after that.

I'm also really scared of going under, I don't know why I just feel that if I needed to then it would be best to have a general for an operation that I really needed iyswim? It's just a personal thing , I'm sure id be just fine but I'm not willing to risk it - I've watched one and it looks bloody brutal Shock

Thanks for writing about this.... I e found the insta and I'm hooked 😂🙌

Ireolu · 04/10/2021 08:29

Very impressive. Especially under local anesthesia. Great results.

Jellyfishnchips · 05/10/2021 09:05

Thanks for sharing the info OP, that’s great to know you had the tear trough filler too. Could I PM you for details on the practitioner you used? It’s not near me but would travel for a good recommendation Yeah agree the tummy tuck op does look a major procedure, Spanx are an easier option! 😊

Wagsandclaws · 05/10/2021 17:59

@Jellyfishnchips yes of course you can. My DIL travels from Hampshire to Wiltshire to see him as he is so good.

Cruiser123 · 05/10/2021 18:08

That looks bloody fantastic. I'm 34,not overweight but have sort of a sagging chin due to genetics. It looks okay now, but I'm worried it will look like a frog chin in the future.

This is a procedure I might consider in the future, thanks for posting

superstar63 · 05/10/2021 20:52

Wagsandclaws

Can you tell me how you researched your surgeon, he sounds amazing but I need someone in the North West and wouldn't know where to start looking and would welcome any recommendations.

Tanya4444 · 05/10/2021 21:50

Fabulous results! What a difference!

Wagsandclaws · 07/10/2021 11:12

@superstar63 there was a thread on here from just over a year ago it was something like 'I had my jowls fixed' or something like that. She used a surgeon in York I believe, excellent results too.
