I had a neck and lower facelift 48 hours ago

I thought I’d post on here as it might be of some help to anyone considering the same. I have tried literally everything. Profilo, thread lifts, expensive creams such as strivectin and I was even booked in for Morpheus8 and facetite ( for the neck ) but I cancelled as it was 3k and I didn’t want to waste anymore money and only get a 25 - 30% improvement.

I do actually think that the above would and does work if you have fairly low key laxity but mine came from a 6 stone 3lb weight loss in my mid 40’s and, by 49 my neck was quite bad.

I’ve dabbled in Botox and fillers since I was about 42 and loved the effect they gave me. I wanted to feel more refreshed and look less knackered.

Anyway I found a surgeon who specialised in face and neck lifts ( as well as tummy tucks and breast augmentation ) but the face and neck lifts are usually done by him under a local anaesthetic - I absolutely didn’t want to go under. He does them under a local so as to minimise recovery times and not have to use bandages and drains ect.

Anyway I had the consultation a few months ago and it was booked for the 22nd of September ( he is booked up well in advance ) plus this gave me the chance to save further.

I had the surgery two days ago and within half an hour of it being over I was back in the car and on my way home ( I live 3 hours away from where I had it done ) it was more expensive than having it done locally but I would have had to have gone under and I wanted to avoid that.

He does at least 10 face and neck lifts per week ( I was one of three that day ) and I researched his work throughly. He is one of the top surgeons in this field so I was happy to go with him due to his experience.

Ive put a photo of me taken in the morning in the hotel before I left for the clinic and one half an hour afterward in the car on the way home.

To say after losing all that weight that I was left with no definable chin or jawline that I was upset would be minimising it, I had tried everything before this and used to avoid photos even my DD's wedding in June. I won’t lie I’m bloody over the moon with the results ( so far so good )

My lower face in the after pics is quite swollen still and it’s painful But the painkillers are doing the job though and I’m excited to be 1/2/3/4 weeks post procedure to see the results properly.

Scars will be along the hairline, there is some puckering in the upper incisions ( all completely normal ) but my profile is transformed. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy and I properly 💩 myself when I went into the theatre 😬 but I’m so glad I’ve done it!

I would say if you are very unhappy with your neck or jowls this is a great procedure, I believe that Morpheus8 and facetite can also give very good results too if yours isn’t as bad as mine was, you can pay a lot less than I did if you are happy to go under too.

I shall upload some more photos each week for progression and for anyone that’s considering this to see. I could do with a tummy tuck Ect but I’m not bothered about that as it’s my face that people see, I use Spanx and wonder bras and that works for me 🙂

I see lots of threads on what to do with a saggy neck or jowls, I’m not saying this is what anyone should do in fact I’d advocate trying everything else first, threads can be effective as can Morpheus8 and facetite they just didn’t give me the results I wanted.

I just wanted to post this as I saved for a long time and it wasn’t a quick decision but if you’ve tried everything and it makes you as sad as it made me then I’d say it’s well worth saving for if you can?

Looks wonderful

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 12/10/2021 12:13

Gosh I'm getting more and more jealous with each picture! OP go out and show off your new neck - it's beautiful and you should be showing it off at any chance. When you are sitting at home may I recommend a handheld mirror to pick up at regular intervals to admire the results? Grin

Wagsandclaws · 14/10/2021 09:26

No pics this week as I've got covid along with the rest of the family, it's all healing so so well though and it's getting to a point where you can't really notice, perhaps the Puckering a little bit but it's looking fab! See you in a week when I'll be one month in and can take some better pics ( hopefully will be a lot better a week from now

Just to say i started looking at your thread thinking I'd feel a bit sceptical but am totally amazed at how wonderful you are looking now an dhow much difference this procedure has made. You look so much younger than your age now and have a very neat jawline, congratulations on being brave and taking the plunge.

Wagsandclaws · 14/10/2021 11:28

@ExConstance honestly when I first started researching this I though ok so it will be a bit better but I saw what a difference he'd made in so many necks that were worse than mine and it's amazing so I really did hope for this result.

I've still got a double chin but my jawline is not so slack and my neck is sag free Grin

How are you doing, OP? Feeling better now?

Wagsandclaws · 27/10/2021 11:12

Hello @Craftycorvid Smile much better now thanks, that covid is a bit of a bugger but I'm in the mend.

So I'm 5 weeks post surgery and things are looking excellent. Still over the bloody moon with my results 🥳 I've attached a pic of the scarring at this duration and a photo of me normal day to day with makeup on taken a couple of days ago.

I can't stress how much confidence it's given me, still a wee bit overweight but I'm really happy with the way I look now and feel that my neck and lower face have made all the difference for me.

Just adding these before pics - the spilt one is taken in the same day six hours apart before surgery and straight after on the way home in the car.

I was very swollen but you can see the difference straight away. A bit of double chin has come back but that's ok as I am not that slim and it's not too bad or saggy!

workshy44 · 27/10/2021 12:18

WOW the last picture of you done up is incredible , really stunning and so so natural looking
You are so good to post them.

Wagsandclaws · 27/10/2021 12:51

@Craftycorvid thank you 😊

@workshy44 thank you too! I don't believe in the 'oh it's all good genes' bull*hit - I would've appreciated a thread like mine as you can see the reality of how sore it is for a while afterwards but also what a significant difference it's made. For me at least it's been well worth it.

The reality is that the media is full of very well preserved ladies of a similar age to me and there is nothing worse than them saying oh I've only had a bit of Botox or a bit of filler, in most cases this is so not true, the reality is it takes a fair bit of 'tweakments' or as in my case surgery to look a bit younger than you are ( not actually saying that is the case with me ) so at least be let's all be honest Grin

JuneOsborne · 27/10/2021 13:13

I've followed this thread from mnthe beginning, but had nothing to say, just interested.

But, I have to say how beautiful you are! The procedure has done wonders for you too. You look so happy.

Wagsandclaws · 27/10/2021 13:36

@missfliss thank you that's the idea and I'm so pleased! Thank you for commenting

@JuneOsborne what a lovely thing to say, thanks for taking the time to comment, it's amazing the difference it's made for me, I am conscious that it's a real last resort for a lot of people ( it really was for me ) and I wanted to be transparent about the process not just the end result iyswim?

I want this Envy

Wagsandclaws · 27/10/2021 14:16

@thenightsky depends how bad you feel about it. There are other things that can be done to improve skin texture Ect.

I think it's a fairly common procedure though Smile

How are you getting on wagsandclaws?!

I’ve made my appointment at Bella Vous!

Wagsandclaws · 22/02/2022 09:28

Ok so it's been 5 months now and the scars have pretty much healed.

The shape of my face is how it will be now ( it was a bit extreme when first done ) I just want to pop up a couple of photos of me now.

I've had some lovely ems shows from people who have made their own enquiries about getting similar done and I would still say don't hesitate if it bothers you to the extent that it bothered me.

Still feel it's one of the best things that I've done for myself in terms of confidence and happiness in my own skin. I'm still a size 16/18 and actually put on a couple of stubborn lbs at Xmas that refuse to go but for me the issue was my saggy neck.

I wish I'd lost the weight in my 30's or better still never put I on at all, I have seen so many ladies saying that this was their biggest issue with a large loss of weight and it was an expensive fix. It's done now and I'm still very glad I had it done.

The first pic is before - as it was a lower face lift and neck lift the lower face is lifted in the subsequent pics. I use Botox and filler too but even they weren't helping much especially with my lower face.
The last two pics are now. Please excuse the red patch on my neck in one as I had an allergic reaction to a skin cream.

You look beautiful, OP. You have amazing eyes as well.

Yes, weight loss after a certain age is brutal on the face. I see no reason to put up with something that’s affecting your confidence if you don’t have to.

Nessnext · 22/02/2022 20:39

You look incredible!! Such a difference.

bettertocryinamercedes · 22/02/2022 20:53

Absolutely amazing! You look lovely and thanks so much for sharing the pics.

It's great to be able to see real results like that!

ThisTooShallPassOneDay · 22/02/2022 21:48

You are beautiful and your results are amazing. Well done on the weight loss too. You should be really proud of yourself Smile
