I had a neck and lower facelift 48 hours ago

I thought I’d post on here as it might be of some help to anyone considering the same. I have tried literally everything. Profilo, thread lifts, expensive creams such as strivectin and I was even booked in for Morpheus8 and facetite ( for the neck ) but I cancelled as it was 3k and I didn’t want to waste anymore money and only get a 25 - 30% improvement.

I do actually think that the above would and does work if you have fairly low key laxity but mine came from a 6 stone 3lb weight loss in my mid 40’s and, by 49 my neck was quite bad.

I’ve dabbled in Botox and fillers since I was about 42 and loved the effect they gave me. I wanted to feel more refreshed and look less knackered.

Anyway I found a surgeon who specialised in face and neck lifts ( as well as tummy tucks and breast augmentation ) but the face and neck lifts are usually done by him under a local anaesthetic - I absolutely didn’t want to go under. He does them under a local so as to minimise recovery times and not have to use bandages and drains ect.

Anyway I had the consultation a few months ago and it was booked for the 22nd of September ( he is booked up well in advance ) plus this gave me the chance to save further.

I had the surgery two days ago and within half an hour of it being over I was back in the car and on my way home ( I live 3 hours away from where I had it done ) it was more expensive than having it done locally but I would have had to have gone under and I wanted to avoid that.

He does at least 10 face and neck lifts per week ( I was one of three that day ) and I researched his work throughly. He is one of the top surgeons in this field so I was happy to go with him due to his experience.

Ive put a photo of me taken in the morning in the hotel before I left for the clinic and one half an hour afterward in the car on the way home.

To say after losing all that weight that I was left with no definable chin or jawline that I was upset would be minimising it, I had tried everything before this and used to avoid photos even my DD's wedding in June. I won’t lie I’m bloody over the moon with the results ( so far so good )

My lower face in the after pics is quite swollen still and it’s painful But the painkillers are doing the job though and I’m excited to be 1/2/3/4 weeks post procedure to see the results properly.

Scars will be along the hairline, there is some puckering in the upper incisions ( all completely normal ) but my profile is transformed. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy and I properly 💩 myself when I went into the theatre 😬 but I’m so glad I’ve done it!

I would say if you are very unhappy with your neck or jowls this is a great procedure, I believe that Morpheus8 and facetite can also give very good results too if yours isn’t as bad as mine was, you can pay a lot less than I did if you are happy to go under too.

I shall upload some more photos each week for progression and for anyone that’s considering this to see. I could do with a tummy tuck Ect but I’m not bothered about that as it’s my face that people see, I use Spanx and wonder bras and that works for me 🙂

I see lots of threads on what to do with a saggy neck or jowls, I’m not saying this is what anyone should do in fact I’d advocate trying everything else first, threads can be effective as can Morpheus8 and facetite they just didn’t give me the results I wanted.

I just wanted to post this as I saved for a long time and it wasn’t a quick decision but if you’ve tried everything and it makes you as sad as it made me then I’d say it’s well worth saving for if you can?

That recovery is amazing, you look fantastic, it looks so natural.

crj123 · 29/09/2021 10:42

@Wagsandclaws

Yes! So he said if I wanted to get rid of the remaining double chin I could have vaser lipo in six months when things have settled down.

But tbh compared to how my neck and chin used to be I'm not that bothered so I probably won't.

Yes I don't think you'll need it. Honest to god I'm so happy for you, you look amazing. Congrats! Saving up from now
alwayswrighty · 29/09/2021 10:43

I was considering this. Its unaffordable for me atm but I'm definitely going to consider it.

Wagsandclaws · 29/09/2021 11:00

It took me two years to save up for this although if I hadn't wasted money on neck threads Ect I'd have got there a little faster.

Thanks so much, I'm really, really pleased.

It looks like it’s lifted the side of your mouth too. Would you say it’s helped that area?

thenightsky · 29/09/2021 13:28

Wow, that's an amazing result! Have you had a little bit of lip filler too?

Wagsandclaws · 29/09/2021 13:36

@Charlieiscool initially I think it did but the edges still go down slightly so I'm not sure I'd say that truthfully the whole of my lower face has been 'hoiked' up - it just looks a bit more 'up' if you see what I mean.

@thenightsky I had some lip filler about 8 months ago, quite minimal as I didn't want an unnatural look but I probably won't get that done again.

I do have cheek filler and nose to mouth lines done about once a year as well as Botox every three months. In all honesty though what Botox and fillers did for my face is nothing compared to what this surgery has done for my neck in terms of turning back the clock.

Looks amazing. Are you being honest with people and how do they react?

CurlyhairedAssassin · 29/09/2021 13:56

Your profile does make you look younger, OP. But I'm not sure it's always to do with weight loss/excess skin. I'm quite a skinny person, your age, and I hate my side profile now. There is no definition to my neckline/under my chin. I would love a side profile like Madonna on the True Blue album ha ha! With me I think it's poor posture and spending all day on a screen. So without me realising I'm jutting my head forward, and the skin has slowly stretched over time. I'm not at all the plastic surgery type so I'll just be living with it (and making sure I'm not side on when a camera is around Grin)

Wagsandclaws · 29/09/2021 14:12

@WinnieTheWee yes absolutely, I don't see the point in telling fibs and saying it's genetics, sometimes it is but not in my case , I'm very open and honest about my use of Botox and fillers and will be about my neck lift.

@CurlyhairedAssassin again it's possibly down to genetics but I started losing weight in my early 40's and with each stone that was lost the worse the sagging got.

My surgeon has seen the same type of sagging on people who are younger and lost a lot more weight than me, sometimes the skin just doesn't 'bounce back' I guess.

To each their own, I took a long to get to the point where I'd go under the knife and tried lots of different things first as I just didn't want to use plastic surgery as a first option it really was for me as last resort.

I think if you are at peace with whatever age throws at you that's all good too, at some point you have to accept and embrace it but for me it was a swift decline from a firm ( but fatter ) neck to a saggy neck ( and chin, even my chin sagged too ).

Missatkins · 29/09/2021 14:27

Omg, the results are absolutely amazing. Do you think this procedure would work on a wrinkly neck?? My face isn't too bad, but my neck is awful 🙏

Seesawmummadaw · 29/09/2021 14:43

You look beautiful.

Wagsandclaws · 29/09/2021 15:08

@Missatkins yes I do, it's all pulled tighter so I don't see why not. Best thing to do is speak to a surgeon but I think it would work.

@Seesawmummadaw that's so kind thank you Smile

You look fantastic, this has convinced me to re-book the upper blepharoplasty I've been promising myself for two years now. It got cancelled during covid and I've never got round to rebooking but I'm doing it!

DianaPrinceRocks · 29/09/2021 20:29

Wow. You are gorgeous and the change has honestly knocked at least 10 years off.

Although I'd be happy to even have your weight loss Blush.

Are you able to sleep ok? Hope you have a fast recovery.

You are very brave - to go through it and also for sharing with us. Thank you for being so inspiring.

Hello1290 · 29/09/2021 21:45

Wow you look amazing - I want your lovely neck :) as mine is all saggy and crepey. I've had one coolsculpt and one Morpheus 8 treatment but it doesnt seem to have improved my sagginess one tiny bit :(

Wagsandclaws · 29/09/2021 22:03

@TooWicked do it! Tbh I'm more nervous of the idea of having someone fiddle round with my eyes than I was having my face done 🤣 they look amazing though!

@DianaPrinceRocks yes the first couple of nights were a bit rough just because I am not used to sleeping on my back but I invested in a lovely v pillow from the wool room and I'm very comfortable now.

I wish I could get used sleeping on my back as it's supposed to be very good for your skin.

@Hello1290 someone upthread said the Morpheus8 was pretty brutal, how have you found it? My practitioner was honest with me and said that the Morpheus8 combined with facetite would give me an approx 30 percent improvement but then I could have it down again six months later, the trouble was that it was 3.5k for the two treatments and then if I had it done again that would be 7k and I just thought oh well I may as well have the surgery especially as it was under local 🤷‍♀️

I hope your next session produces the results you want, maybe you have to have a good couple of sessions to see a difference?

Hello1290 · 29/09/2021 22:13

Thanks [Wagsandclaws]It was uncomfortable even with numbing cream. I'm so disappointed I'm dithering over whether or not to have a further Morpheus as I just can't see me getting the results I want. I'm probably being unrealistic but even so...
It's great to see your results though

SwimmingOnEggshells · 29/09/2021 23:24

You look amazing!

november90 · 29/09/2021 23:29

Thanks guys Smile every day is an improvement!

Empressofthemundane · 30/09/2021 13:28

It looks really successful on you.

My stepmother had a partial face lift at 40. She’s now in her 70s and it has aged with her beautiful.

All that said, I’m a scaredy-cat! I just know these things would go wrong on me!

I’m glad you were brave and got a great result.

Somebodylikeyew · 01/10/2021 08:20

You look great OP :)

ohgoonthenjustonemore · 01/10/2021 08:52

You look absolutely amazing!!!

Wagsandclaws · 01/10/2021 16:38

Thanks! Got some weird pain at the top of each ear. Must be nerves Ect.

I was prepared for the numbness too as I've had a couple of c sections - hopefully the feeling around my ears will come back gradually.

I went out today and it was windy, no hiding those scars just yet 😳 the postman gave me an odd look 🤣
