@HarrietsweetHarriet

Oh and I'd like to get Whittard's coffee one for DH but don't think it's been launched yet and might be too pricey. The hot choc one came out and was way more spendy than I expected!
Yes I’d love the hot chocolate one but it’s a bit much to spend on hot chocolate!
BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 04/10/2021 08:29

The Whittards hot chocolate calendars are expensive and their hot chocolate is not that nice IMHO

TheDuchessOfMN · 04/10/2021 08:35

I bought Space NK for myself, and DH ordered HoF for me, mostly because I use both the Mac and CT lipsticks, so they justify the calendar for me.
I sort of regret buying the SpaceNK too. I’m definitely going to wait longer next year, but last year I couldn’t get Cult Beauty - the website would crash on every device I used.

Housewife2010 · 04/10/2021 08:53

Re Space NK, as it's on pre-order anyone who is having regrets could cancel it. I've always found the Space NK customer service very good.

DarlingCoffee · 04/10/2021 09:15

John Lewis is live! Go go go! Just got mine, feel very excited - my first one Smile

TheDuchessOfMN · 04/10/2021 09:17

@Housewife2010 My SpaceNK arrived a day or 2 after I ordered it. I think it was because I ordered it using the email where they offered the pre pre-order!
Enjoy JL Smile

Anon778833 · 04/10/2021 10:02

This is the first time I ordered JL. In the past I've ordered Liberty, Charlotte Tilbury, M&S and Glossybox. Liberty is lovely. I probably will get M&S this year too because it's so cheap for what you get.

imp2007 · 04/10/2021 10:26

@LizzieMacQueen no I checked first thing this morning - I'll check again at lunchtime!

ashmts · 04/10/2021 10:40

Well, I caved and ordered JL. So much for waiting for Fenwick's! I just think JL is so good this year and such good value with the size of products. The value of Fenwick is about half that of JL and last year the sizes were quite small so I'm guessing they will be again. Hope I don't live to regret this.

Tbh I'm starting to wish I hadn't bothered with F&M. Sure it'll be lovely when it arrives but the sizes are quite small and it was expensive. Also wondering whether to try to cancel, unless someone can talk me back into loving it (please)?

MidnightMeltdown · 04/10/2021 10:50

@toffeeshock

The EL, AA bath oil and Dermalogica in JL made it an easy decision for me.

These are the same 3 products that I found tempting in JL. However I ended up getting EL in the next editors box, and I realised that there's an AA oil in F&M which I've already ordered, so don't think I can justify JL just for the Dermalogica. Especially as that's currently on sale at £55 at JL, getting the calendar just doesn't add up for me.

LaBrujaPiruja · 04/10/2021 10:56

JL out of stock online!

Luvacuppatea · 04/10/2021 11:25

@ashmts, I’m also wondering if I’ve done the right thing ordering F&M now that I’ve seen Harrods. It never occurred to me to wait for the Harrods reveal as I’ve never been at all tempted by their past offerings. This year they’ve seriously raised their game. BUT I don’t want to look at the F&M contents again now as I’ve managed to avoid doing so since ordering in the hope of some of them being a nice surprise. So I feel that the only way forward is to convince myself that I don’t want/need the Harrods one...... it’s going to be difficult though 😂

ashmts · 04/10/2021 11:36

@LaBrujaPiruja

JL out of stock online!
No way! Surely not. I wonder if they'll restock. It is a great selection this year though and at a lower price point than most so I wouldn't be all that surprised if people have snapped it up.

@Luvacuppatea It's mad, I was so chuffed with F&M when I ordered and thought it would be a lovely treat. The lack of make-up was what attracted me to it, and now I'm thinking it's maybe all a bit samey! I've had a look at both sets of contents (purely for your benefit, obv...) and imo they are different enough to justify both. If you want me to enable you. But also Harrods isn't tempting me so you don't really need it. If that helps.

JustWhatIAlwaysWanted · 04/10/2021 11:56

@HarrietsweetHarriet and anyone else looking for a coffee calendar, I've got this Pact one for DH for the last couple of years and have ordered it again. He really enjoys it and as a coffee snob will vouch for it being good.

PomRuns · 04/10/2021 11:59

@ashmts @Luvacuppatea I feel the same ! Fortnums does look lovely and festive but I do prefer Harrods now. ..

toffeeshock · 04/10/2021 12:04

I imagine JL will restock however I’m glad I’ve ordered mine as I’ve been looking forward to getting it since the products were announced.

With the events that they do being so popular I can see why they might have sold calendars faster than usual this year.

MidnightMeltdown · 04/10/2021 12:05

@ashmts Fortnums is still favourite for me if that helps at all! I like the fancy face creams, Olverum, AA bath oil, and I really want to try the perfume and the hair mask.

What are people excited about in Harrods? I'm struggling to see the appeal and wondering whether I'm missing something amazing that I don't know about!

I wouldn't mind trying the Oribe product, and there's a £170 face mask in there, but there's not much calling to me. It seems to have the usual overpriced 111 skin and Barbara steam to bump up the price.

MidnightMeltdown · 04/10/2021 12:13

I can see that JL is an amazing deal if the makeup works for you, but I wouldn't wear any of those products. I might have bought it if I needed serums, but I think that I already have enough to last a year (with 3 currently open!!), and worried about them deteriorating Confused

I expect that they'll have loads in store too if anyone missed out. This usually happens with M&S. They sell out quickly online and then linger in the store for months. I don't know why they don't put more online and wonder whether it's a marketing strategy to get people into store.
toffeeshock · 04/10/2021 12:41

The in-store stock checker shows it’s not in stock in most of the stores! It’s not in stock in my closest store. Maybe they just haven’t had many in yet.

HarrietsweetHarriet · 04/10/2021 12:46

@JustWhatIAlwaysWanted
Thank you , I have just ordered the PACT coffee calendar for DH on your recommendation x

MidnightMeltdown · 04/10/2021 12:56

@Housewife2010

The only ones that have sold out so far are Holland & Barrett and ASOS. In the past John Lewis and Space NK have been around for a while. I think John Lewis is better than usual this year so I don't think it will be around at half price at Black Friday this year.

Holland and Barrett and ASOS have both been restocked

They've probably not hit stores yet if only just released online.

Credit to JL for not having a cult beauty style website crash if their calendar really has sold out though!

Anon778833 · 04/10/2021 12:59

It's possible that there won't be as many of any advent calendars this year because of delays & shortages caused by Covid etc. If everything else has been affected then won't it also affect these things?

Yes I imagine so. There are a couple of stores that still don’t have their Christmas stock out when they would normally, which I’m guessing is down to this.
