I'm really old too @HarrietsweetHarriet, there's no age limit on loving yummy skincare and makeup 😋

I’m in my 40s. I’m not sure if that’s considered old, although I felt ancient when I saw the recent post on here about a 26 year old feeling almost middle aged!

I didn’t even read that toffeeshock! At the ripe old age of 57 that would have depressed me. Mind you I still feel 26 inside!

My grandmother in her 90s says the same!

In Lieu of an AC, I’ve just treated myself to £60 of Trinny London make-up that I wanted, but couldn’t justify.

I'd never thought of that - 12 days of Christmas. Ooh more treats / surprises up until 6th January! That would help to combat the first week of January blues!

I saved my Fenwicks last year for JadventGrin

@toffeeshock

My JL calendar has arrived! It’s very heavy.

Mine too. It’s extremely pink… I wish there was more of an effort to make them look a bit festive.

It isn’t very festive, is it?!

I had the Grazia / Glossybox one last year for the 12 days of Christmas. Not bad - I got the calendar at a discount, and sold two of the products I didn’t want on EBay for good prices, so it ended up being practically free for a Neom candle, a Tarte primer, a Rodial eye cream and some other less memorable things.

DrRamsesEmerson · 06/10/2021 21:23

Maybe I’ll do that again when they publish the contents on Friday if it isn’t too samey.

A few years ago, people on these threads would buy these calendars without knowing what was in them. They wanted it to be a surprise - I don't think anyone does that now.

I don't actually open mine day by day. For me, it's purely an exercise in getting discounted beauty products which I can now use (especially as I've just run out of everything)

Report
toffeeshock · 06/10/2021 22:14

I’ve always looked at the contents in advance and my first was bought around 10 years ago (the first Selfridges one in a big yellow box - it was a new thing back then and a big deal on the beauty pages of all the magazines!).

Most of the contents are still a surprise for me come December, because I research early and forget what’s in them! Grin

Report
toffeeshock · 06/10/2021 22:18

The yellow box may have just been the outer packaging come to think of it - but that’s the main thing I remember!

Peridot1 · 07/10/2021 09:20

I look at the list of contents but then forget what’s in them. I love opening them every day in December with my first cup of tea.

Does anyone know of an easy way to find a list of twelve day ones? Really like the idea of extending the ritual over the twelve days of Christmas. I’ve looked at the Origins one which I quite like as I do like the mega mushroom items in it so would be happy with that but wondered if there is a list of twelve day ones anywhere.

ASOS are releasing this be beauty box tomorrow. I think it’s amazing for £20, even though I don’t like peach shades of lipsticks

wow guys, I came to start a beauty advent calendar thread and found you lot, already 966 posts deep Grin My kinda women.
Room for another?

vague content spoilers

Apologies I've not RTFT (because 966 posts!?) but are any loyal Liberty adventers going elsewhere this year?

I'll be sad to loose the box (let's face it, it's the prettiest) and the cost to value ratio, but I'm so disheartened that there's no glitter, no make up, no candle, and a repeat fragrance. Just not very festive!

I have the strawberry thief box in the loft so thinking of getting DH to transfer the contents from the Space NK offering into that, like the loser that I am.

Anyone else being tempted by Space NK?

Welcome @plantingandpotting

No makeup in Liberty Shock I looked at it when the contents were revealed but missed that! I don’t wear much make up nowadays and skin care is more my thing but a bit of make up makes a calendar feel so much more exciting.

I was very tempted by Space NK and would have bought it if it had been released at the same time that contents were revealed but went off it while waiting for release, due to the small sizes I think. It looks good other than that though and I think quite a few on here have gone for it.

I am liking the sound of a 12 days of Christmas one!

There is makeup in the Liberty AC but very little. There's a mini mascara and a brow product.

Report
MiaN · 07/10/2021 09:53

I had few last year but so far I am not wanting any of them. Looking to see the content of skinstore - loved the 12 day last year.

BT price is way too high. Space Nk doesn't appeal this time - I have some of the products and don't care for the rest. I was tempted with Cult beauty but the makeup is bit too warm so not sure for that one either!

@plantingandpotting Have you seen the Flannels calendar? Similar price to Space NK and lots of makeup including a Charlotte Tilbury red lipstick.

Ooh that ASOS box looks excellent and an amazing price.

Report

ooh, thanks @Housewife2010

That Flannels offering is a serious contender now. Love the make up bits and the fact there's lashes in there!

I'm feeling the need for a roaring 20s style December this year Gin
