Oh. I'm disappointed in the M&S one. I'll have to set an alarm to get the JL one when I'm on holiday. Or wait to see if it gets reduced

The Boots Macmillan one is reduced to half price and 20% off for students this weekend

Yes a different item to the neck cream makes a change! Any lip colour is wasted here because we still have to wear masks, even outside on the school run and I can’t see that changing during the winter!

gratedbeetroot · 24/09/2021 16:54

If there were one or two items I love then I’d go for it but £40 (+ £30 on stuff I don’t need) is not good value for me.

I’m eagerly awaiting JL to go on sale.

AprilLady · 24/09/2021 16:59

The M&S calendar looks reassuringly similar to previous boxes; the sizes do look mostly small, but it costs £40 not £200, so not unreasonable. Other than the eyeliners and the This Works product, I think I would use most of the products, so I’ll be getting it.

If we are lucky the Stila eyeliner will be brown (as I recall from a previous box) and not black, in which case I would probably use it too.

I also quite like the tin.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/09/2021 17:13

On the fence about the M&S calendar there are quite a few products I'd like to try & a few that I use already, but really a sun protection lip balm? That's not exciting.

QueefofSheena · 24/09/2021 17:17

I’m happy with M&S for £40, I always get my mum some knitwear in there so that’ll be my qualifying spend.

dottyaboutstripes · 24/09/2021 17:19

The M&S calendar looks so disappointing to me, I was definitely going to get one but now I'm not.

PomRuns · 24/09/2021 17:20

I’ll get it - there are a few staples - Aveda, l’occitane I’ll use. The rest I will give to my niece.

PomRuns · 24/09/2021 17:21

Also like the tin !

Giftwithpurchase · 24/09/2021 17:23

Haha sorry @PomRuns .. if it's an consolation I think you buying it has just enabled me to buy it too 😂

PrincessNutNuts · 24/09/2021 17:36

Advent calendar knowers of things...

Are there any toiletries based ones?

My mum would be baffled by flaconettes, neck creams and pillow sprays, but she loves a good smellie.

Any brands I should look at?

Housewife2010 · 24/09/2021 17:41

The Ultrasun lipbalm is a really good one. I'm pleased that it's not the usual SPF. The l'Occitane Shea shower oil looks good and a chance from the usual verbena.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 24/09/2021 17:42

@PrincessNutNuts there's a cath kidston one that is mainly creams of sorts. Hand creams etc.

AnnieSnap · 24/09/2021 17:43

The M&S one would work for other than the eyeliners and mascara. The REN day cream is actually my regular day cream. The hair products look good and the hand cream too. I doubt I’ll manage to get one though. I go on holiday to Barbados (Covid allowing) on 28 October, not back until 9 November. Maybe there is somewhere on the delivery note where I can ask for it to be left with a neighbour and hope they are in!

PomRuns · 24/09/2021 17:48

Rituals? @PrincessNutNuts

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 24/09/2021 17:51

@PrincessNutNuts you can click this link then use the menu and filter on skincare or luxury or whatever and they list them all as they get info on them

MidnightMeltdown · 24/09/2021 17:54

I'm also not overly excited by M&S, but I think that's mainly because I've been spoiled with too many high end calendars over the past couple of years. I will probably still pick one up and share it with mum.

CountryCob · 24/09/2021 17:55

@AprilLady that is pretty much how I feel about the M&S and I agree we need to remember it’s £40, really like the tin idea. Will most likely get it on top of the Space NK although maybe not as there are very few things I really am keen on, but then it is £40 and fun. This is a very circular argument….

AprilLady · 24/09/2021 18:01

@CountryCob, one way of looking at it is that you are effectively paying £1.60 per item for the 25 items. It looks very reasonable indeed on that basis!

PomRuns · 24/09/2021 18:03

That’s super enabling @AprilLady join the @Giftwithpurchase club 🙂

AprilLady · 24/09/2021 18:08

@PomRuns Smile

CountryCob · 24/09/2021 18:14

Well yes @AprilLady if you put it that way…..

CountryCob · 24/09/2021 18:15

And at least the nail varnish isn’t gold, that made my pale winter skin look dead….

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 24/09/2021 18:33

Ahhh the M and S is very disappointing. I can't believe they haven't upped their game a bit.

I fancy Decleor does anyone know if there may be a GWP with it somewhere soon? That would be very awesome 🤩

Actually that's a very good point!
