Dh hates my new dress, what do you think?

Hello,

New dress, sale bargain, cosy, doesn't crease(!). Asked dh for an option on which size was the most flattering, but he really dislikes it.

Now I dress for myself, dh is lovely (and to be fair I did ask his opinion) but it's given me a bit of a wobble.

It mainly for work, in a kind of chuck on and not worry about. Dh massively prefers my other dresses. I'm an hour glass size 16, and a lot of my dressed are more fitted, but I think they look a bit dated now.

I though this was an on trend and flattering day dress, but now I'm doubting myself.

Tags still attached, it can go back.

What do you think? I'm late 40s.

Looks like you have a nice figure hidden under there. The dress isn’t doing it any favours.

You might be able to customise it with a stretchy wide belt at the narrowest part of your waist and if the sleeves will fold back as they seem to drown you. But really, you’re too classy for that dress, it doesn’t show off your figure.

Doesn't look good at all, makes you look frumpy. A belt around waist would look better with some heels but all in all not good

Can I say what good humour you've taken the feedback in...

I once bought a dress that my husband described as making me look like a Lego man (square bodied). I kept it and the Lego man comment makes me smile every time I wear it.

He's good for a honest opinion though. Brutally so sometimes!

On the plus side - your DH has taste and can be trusted to give a good opinion.

I like it, I think you look fine.

But it might need some colourful accessories to brighten it up a bit.

i wear a lot of black myself,but sorry its not very flattering,at least your hubby was honest some would of told you what you wanted to hear,mine when asked how does something look doesnt evan look up from the tv.

It might be better with a very thick belt or no belt at all.

It’s not flattering, but I reckon it could look much better styled for autumn, with a long chunky cardigan over the top with tights and flat boots.
