Dh hates my new dress, what do you think?

Hello,

New dress, sale bargain, cosy, doesn't crease(!). Asked dh for an option on which size was the most flattering, but he really dislikes it.

Now I dress for myself, dh is lovely (and to be fair I did ask his opinion) but it's given me a bit of a wobble.

It mainly for work, in a kind of chuck on and not worry about. Dh massively prefers my other dresses. I'm an hour glass size 16, and a lot of my dressed are more fitted, but I think they look a bit dated now.

I though this was an on trend and flattering day dress, but now I'm doubting myself.

Tags still attached, it can go back.

What do you think? I'm late 40s.

Ooh sorry I think he’s right. It doesn’t fit well. It looks too big and the thin belt does nothing for your waist.

Definitely better options out there although I know it can be tempting when something seems a bargain.

I don't think it's very flattering if I am honest. Take it back and get something else.

Think the waist is too low and agree it's too black so it's not doing you justice!

Hi OP, it doesn't look bad imo, but it doesn't look great either. Sorry. I wouldn't look twice if I saw you walking down the street, but i'm not sure it's a particularly flattering shape for you. I think it's the sleeves, they look quite wide at the wrist. Can you try rolling the sleeves up to 3/4 length to see if that balances things out a bit?

Also, are you wearing a bra that gives you good shape? They look like they might need a bit more support, but that could also be the dress neckline

do you have a nice soft stretchy belt you could try with it.. to give it a feature 🌸

Something not quite right- the sleeves are too voluminous, try rolling them up at bit to just below the elbow?
Try with a waist cinching belt?

It’s a bit of a sack and with your hourglass figure I think it drowns you.

I don't think it's you-it's the dress!
It's a bit loose and harsh, the sleeves are too long and the thin belt isn't great.
