Can’t see a thread so I thought I’d start one. Yes, it’s unbelievably early, but I noticed Glossybox have already revealed their Advent Calendar contents for this year. Saw this reveal on YouTube this morning:

Have to say it doesn’t wow me, but there’s plenty of time and many more Advent Calendars to come, I’m sure! Grin

@Nanasueathome

Just a ‘heads up’ to you all I pre ordered the Fortnum and Mason advent calendar, due October, and they have already charged me for it It had better be worth it!!!!!!!!!
That's odd. I paid with PayPal when I bought mine and it's been payment pending for quite a while now. I assumed that it wouldn't clear until the calendar was dispatched.
Nanasueathome · 24/08/2021 13:59

Yes, I thought it was odd
I’m a regular shopper at F&M and have all of my details already online with them
I expected it to be charged when dispatched

Gomalo · 24/08/2021 14:48

It’s my first time in the beauty advent calendar world. I need something to help get me through the next few months so was thinking of ordering one to open in November and another for December. After looking through the previous threads I’m thinking H&B and M&S or CB.

Will there be specific release dates for them? I’d hate to miss out.

I’ve seen some of you mention gifts with purchases, is that only for certain calendars? Wondering if it might work out better to go for one of those.

LizzieMacQueen · 24/08/2021 15:06

There's a thread here >

Thank you @LizzieMacQueen

Coniferhedge · 24/08/2021 15:38

@MidnightMeltdown If you do a search for Trinny London in Style & Beauty, a few threads should come up. Products I like most are BFF SPF 30, BFF Eye and Just a Touch. I’m super pale and always have problems getting foundation light enough for my skin tone, but Just a Touch in Bambi is perfect for me.

@MidnightMeltdown I forgot - the Starlight highlighter is lovely too. Have a look at the Trinny London Instagram or YouTube. Lots of tutorials on there using the make up to help you decide.

I was on the thread last year under a different name-didn't manage to post all that often but read most posts.

I'm going against the grain here to say I rather like a pillow spray in the calendar (Neom preferably), not so keen on eye cream, nail varnish and black eyeliner is almost enough to put me off buying. I was a bit disappointed with a silk hair tie last year but turns out I use it a lot and it's not a product I would have bought myself.

Mathscourses · 24/08/2021 16:05

@AprilLady
Has anyone had a Decleor calendar before?

beautyadventcalendar.net/decleor-essential-oil-labs-advent-calendar-2021/

I’ve never tried any of their products, so this would have the advantage of being all different at least. Would love to hear from anyone who knows about the brand or their previous calendars.

I bought a Decleor Paris advent calendar from TKMaxx in October last year. It turned out to be the 2019 one, but there was no date on it anywhere, and as it cost £29.99 with RRP £71 I didn’t mind.

I don’t remember much about the products, although it was the only AC I bought last year. Mostly skincare and with some repeats I think.

Mathscourses · 24/08/2021 16:09

@IToldYouIWasFreaky

It'll be interesting to see what's in M&S. I had it for a few years on the bounce and was going off it as it all got very samey. I wonder if they'll shake it up for this year's return? And maybe change the pricing? I usually find something to buy for the qualifying amount but on balance, I think I'd rather just pay £70 (or whatever) for the calendar than £35 of goods, plus £35 for the calendar.

You only have to order eg £35 worth of goods with your advent calendar. They have free returns....

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/08/2021 16:19

I'm pleased to hear that M&S are doing their proper beauty advent calendar this year after missing last year.
So looking forward to seeing what's in that & also what's going to be in the John Lewis one.
The Elemis calendar contents look good & I love the tin idea. However it only seems to come with one lid which is a bit pants plus I don't like the patterns on the tins.

NameChanged15729 · 24/08/2021 18:00

Is it just me that absolutely loves getting black eyeliner...? Especially if it’s the Eyeko black magic one! I do cat eye flicks every day and it’s the only liner I’ve found that’s both really black and easy to use. I spend my own actual money on it all the time Grin

In none covid times I wouldn't mind it as I wear black eyeliner regularly but I'm wearing it a lot less these days so don't really need another.
IToldYouIWasFreaky · 24/08/2021 18:04

@mathscourses That's true! I'd forgotten that one year I did, perfectly innocently, buy a couple of pairs of jeans as my qualifying spend and then return one and no one blinked an eyelid. Worth bearing in mind if I do go for M&S

MidnightMeltdown · 24/08/2021 19:31

@Coniferhedge

Thank you for the tips. I'm definitely going to try it out. Might have to wait until after advent calendar season though, as I have a feeling that my beauty spend will already be quite high over the next couple of months! 😂

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 24/08/2021 22:48

TK MAXX does have some advent calendars occasionally though in sure they're almost always from the previous year

The Ciate nail polish ones are good though

FredaFox · 25/08/2021 01:26

@NameChanged15729 nope I also live the eyeliner, it's the crap eyeko mascara I hate
And the pillow sprays but a friend loves them so at least I pass them on

LastSummerHere · 25/08/2021 09:08

For any posters wondering about Avant...the YouTuber Cosmetopia Digest has been trying to research it and writes about it on the site. Very, very dodgy. There is no transparency with the brand at all (huge red flag) and the ingredients are nothing that should cost more than a fiver. It seems to be the same company (with false addresses in the States) that makes Symbiosis...another regular brand in beauty boxes.

There is just too much ambiguity and question marks around Avant, not least because it appears to use privately labelled products from China which use sweatshops, so I will definitely not be buying any calendar where it appears.

BeaLola · 25/08/2021 12:10

I can't recall who it was that said they would like a REN calendar ?

Not quite the sand but current discount code:

Enjoy 20% off with the code FF20. Plus get a full-size Clearcalm Clay Cleanser when you spend £60 or more.

Fayelina · 25/08/2021 13:02

Thank you, that’s good to know as I loved her products with M&S, which sadly stopped quite a while ago, I’m running out!

TheDuchessOfMN · 25/08/2021 14:10

I’ll either get Cult beauty or Liberty, but I hope CB don’t put some crazy coloured palette in theirs, I much prefer neutral.
I’m still using my LF from last year, this year’s doesn’t appeal to me at all.
Might buy M&S too Blush

Snowplop · 25/08/2021 16:27

I had Amazon and H&B last year. H&B was great but Amazon was very hit and miss - some nice items like AHC eye cream and Elemis toner, but some very odd shades of lip/eye make up. IIRC it was very reasonably priced though and I did enjoy seeing what others got on the thread.

AprilLady · 25/08/2021 16:57

Cult Beauty contents revealed:

beautyadventcalendar.net/cult-beauty-advent-calendar-2021/

LizzieMacQueen · 25/08/2021 17:00

Ha. Just came on to post the same @AprilLady

Join the waitlist.
