Do you shower and not wash your hair?

Ideally my hair is in best condition being washed once or twice a week but I'm finding it really hard to shower more often than that because it's so long and thick and goes frizzy with the humidity.

How do you all cope. Do you shower just when you're washing your hair or more? If so, how?

Fat hairband to cover most of it

tywysoges · 02/08/2021 17:29

I only wash my hair twice a week and shower every day. I use a shower cap, hardly fashionable but does the job for me. I have curly hair, but also do it when I’ve straightened it - though I have to wash slightly more often if straight.

tywysoges · 02/08/2021 17:31

Oh, and I use the shower handheld rather than from the top, if it makes sense. So very little gets to the hair anyway.

orangepeelsz · 02/08/2021 17:31

I shower every day but only wash my hair once a week, when I'm not washing my hair I position the shower head so it's lower down and pointing at my body rather than head. But then every morning I run the hair dryer/straighteners over my hair with some dry shampoo to spruce it up

dementedpixie · 02/08/2021 17:32

I shower daily and wash my hair 2 or 3 times a week. I use a hair clip to keep it up out of the way

Echobelly · 02/08/2021 17:32

I do sometimes, I just use a big clip with 'teeth' to put my hair up or put it in a topknot, as I only wash it 2-3 times a week, but then my hair is straight, so frizziness isn't a problem.

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/08/2021 17:33

All the time. I wash my hair twice a week and stuck it in a bun when I shower but don’t need to wash it. It’s thick and wavy so doesn’t suffer from steam. My fringe is more of an issue so I either pull it back in a head band or just dry it if it gets wet.

HalloHello · 02/08/2021 17:34

Yep shower every day but only wash hair once a week. Also have thick curly hair.

I tie it back, and wear a head band to cover the front of my head so can wash my face without getting hair wet. Been doing it for years so down to a fine art now. Always stand facing shower but angle it so it hits my chest and not face/head.

After shower I always straighten my hair anyway for the day, so doesn't matter if it's gone a bit frizzy

RunningFromInsanity · 02/08/2021 17:36

Yes, I use shower cap- it’s what they are for!

cumulonimbus523 · 02/08/2021 17:36

I only wash my hair once a week (maximum) so the rest of the time it's clipped up (I also have long, thick frizzy hair) and the shower head is angled so it hits my chest and no higher. As PP said I also often use the shower hose held in my hand. I don't straighten my hair but blow dry it when I wash it and use a hair oil every morning to smooth it over.

squashyhat · 02/08/2021 17:36

Yes. Unleas it's particularly hot- day 1 shower & hairwash; day 2 flannel bits & pits (and sometimes feet); day 3 shower with shower cap; day 4 pits & bits; day 5 shower & hairwash etc

MeanderingGently · 02/08/2021 17:47

I shower every day (twice in hot weather) but always use the hand-held shower head rather than standing under pouring water. I can't cope with water pouring onto me from above anyway, makes me feel like I'm being drowned. Hand-held spray doesn't even need to go near my hair.

Wash my hair twice a week, entirely separately. I do it in the sink and then blow dry, it takes ages and I don't have time to be messing about with a hair wash as well when I'm getting up in the morning for work. Often do my hair in the evenings when I have a space and some downtime.

BiscuitDrama · 02/08/2021 17:48

Hair in a ponytail. Bend a bit to make sure my hair doesn’t get wet I suppose?

HauteGirlSummer · 02/08/2021 17:51

Definitely. This is the norm if you have Afro or very could hair. Unless you got a few hours to spare daily to dry and style it 😮‍💨

goose1964 · 02/08/2021 18:20

I have a flamingo showercap

WhereAreWeNow · 02/08/2021 18:24

Shower cap

freelions · 02/08/2021 18:26

Yep shower cap

They're about 99p in Home Bargains Grin

DinosaurDiana · 02/08/2021 18:26

Window wide open and the shower head down as low as it will go.

BaronessBomburst · 02/08/2021 18:28

I twiddle my hair up into a bun but now I want a flamingo shower cap!

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 02/08/2021 18:28

I'm extremely lucky with my hair and frizz isn't part of its repertoire. I wash it every 2 days after a workout at the gym. Daily if it's boiling hot and I'm massively sweaty. I never blow dry my hair, just wash, condition, comb and go. Air dry. It behaves well Grin

AnyFucker · 02/08/2021 18:33

I wash my hair twice a week only. In the shower or bath on non hair wash days I put a cotton turban on my head.

woodhill · 02/08/2021 18:34

Shower cap

StaceysmomandIhavegotitgoinon · 02/08/2021 18:36

Eh of course. I shower morning and night and only wash hair twice a week. Cant imsgine only showering when my hair needs a wash Confused

TheCupboardOfChaos · 02/08/2021 18:38

I shower every day and use the hand-held bit rather than the overhead bit (put my hair up in a big clip). I wash my hair every 2-3 days and use the overhead bit then. I wash my face in the basin morning and night so as not to end up with wet hair.

simbobs · 02/08/2021 18:41

What an odd question. Shower daily with hair under shower cap when not washing it. I only wash it twice a week and would feel dirty if I only showered then. If I just tied it up and used the shower hand-held it would go a bit frizzy.
