Urgent help (in store and need to decide)!

This - small and summery but fairly small

Thank you for your lovely comment/ - I went trotting in to London, in readiness to swap for the Bayswater and pay the extra but it just felt too big and bulky (I have the identical bag in oak from 4 years ago.

I have the newer (now old) shaped small Bayswater which feels smarter and more structured - this one just seemed 'too squishy' and not smart enough.

Does that make sense?

@permaconfused you sound like me with the bags! I’d have 25 if I could! Have you returned the bag then or kept it for now? I really think you might be ok if you keep it and just jump in and start using it...might just be that you’re not quite used to the design yet.

I'm going to order the other one - and try them with lots of outfits - and see what I can get in there at home. They said I could return both bags and then buy the one I want using the vouchers!

Mulberry have the loveliest staff - I can't tel you how patient they've been (one of the managers has been messaging me, helping me out!).

Mulberry is my brand - I looked at YSL, Gucci, LV, Chloe, Dior and I just prefer simplicity. I consisted Aspinal too but jus 'not me'

My DH said he would 'loan me' the equivalent cash for the vouchers if I found a bag elsewhere. Then I could have sold the mulberry vouchers or maybe bought my mum a bag (and shared the cost with my brothers and sister) for her bday next month.

I'm very lucky, at the risk of sounding tacky, I had nothing growing up and when I left home with my first boyfriend - We had £60 per week to live on (buying food with that too).

Although I have worked hard and so has my husband but we are just fortunate enough to to have found a job with a good wage - we don't work harder than anyone with a lower wage - it's just the unfairness of capitalism. I honestly feel grateful and don't take it for granted.

Ah your last update shows I was absolutely right to think you were lovely! There's nothing tacky at all about acknowledging how lucky you feel and to be grateful.

I know exactly what you mean re squishiness. Some of the newer leathers do give the bags a more unstructured feel. If only they were still available in Darwin/NVT! I suggested preloved on the other thread - would you consider that? Sellers like Naughtipidgin's Nest and Labels Most Wanted will let you return items if they're not right.

I've been similarly dithery as you and yes, Mulberry staff are the best. Their CS is brilliant too - I had to return a bag after almost a year because the stitching was going and they refunded me with no quibble.

Do you live near a Mulberry outlet store OP, or could you travel to one? In the olden days (mid/late noughties) the bargains at the outlets were nuts. Bargain bins filled with seconds for £10 and often there was nothing discernable wrong with them, it's just that M's QC is so stringent. They also sell previous season stock and samples so you never know what you might find!

No, apart from changing my sunglasses case to fit in, but it was a huge one, I actually love the fact it’s neat and light. Never use my big purse these days as Apple Pay has changed that forever, so just a pair of specs, lip balm, keys, sanitiser! (So rock n roll!)
