@permaconfused don’t do it. It wasn’t right and it won’t be right now.

Ninkanink · 04/07/2021 11:19

I think the small portobello tote might be a really good option for you. Especially if your shoulders hurt, as having the strap across your back/chest will lessen the pressure on your shoulders.

If you like clean lines and simplicity it also fits your style brief very well.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 04/07/2021 11:25

Mini Alexa?

OldTinHat · 04/07/2021 11:29

Tell you what, you give me £900 and I'll get you an identical bag from the market for £50 tops!

inappropriateraspberry · 04/07/2021 11:32

You know, there are loads of other lovely, expensive bag brands! You don't HAVE to keep buying Mulberry. You say you like the bags, but if none are right for you, try elsewhere. As a PP said, sell the vouchers and broaden your horizons.

Ninkanink · 04/07/2021 11:36

Yes, it could also be that you’ve outgrown the brand or it’s gone in a slightly different direction. Your style might be on the way to evolving and you’re just not consciously aware yet.

If it’s this hard to pick then something is definitely amiss.

Perhaps consider selling the vouchers as others have said. It’s not uncommon to fall out of love with a brand for a few years at a time (or altogether).

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 04/07/2021 12:07

@RunnerDown I nearly bought that exact bag the other day! .. still thinking about it!🙈

rantymcrantface66 · 04/07/2021 13:02

The satchel is the nicest especially if the chain makes the other too fussy for you. It's a shame it's so small though.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 04/07/2021 14:10

Tell you what, you give me £900 and I'll get you an identical bag from the market for £50 tops!

It won't be identical, at the best it will be a pirated copy which defrauds the designer, the manufacturer, the shops where the product that's been copied are made and sold.
The profits from illegal copies are often used to finance illegal operations.
It's immoral on so many counts.

Also, who are you to tell someone how to spend their money?

2gorgeousboys · 04/07/2021 19:43

@permaconfused I've just had a lovely time living vicariously through you and choosing which bag I'd buy in your position. I'd buy the Iris in Khaki - gorgeous. Now I just need to sell a child or win the lottery Wink.

Christ. Why would anybody who’s not into handbags come on to this thread to post about the waste of money they perceive these bags are? Or to accuse the op of a stealth brag? Just move on by. Don’t bother taking time to post because it makes you look judgemental and bitter.

SirGawain · 04/07/2021 20:00

@permaconfused

I tired to defend myself to the stealth brag posts but struggled to write anything that didn't sound passive aggressive.

In truth, it just upset me.

Apologies OP it was meant as a lighthearted comment, I didn’t intend to upset you.

However, I like buying quality but I could not imagine spending that much on a mere accessory.

permaconfused · 04/07/2021 20:28

Thanks for the apology - I appreciate it.

@Ninkanink

If you don’t love bags and think they’re an obscene waste of money then the thread isn’t for you. Who made you the arbiter of what women can and can’t love and spend their money on?? Isn’t there a bench somewhere that you should be sitting on?

Fucks me right off when people think they have a right to piss on a woman’s chips because she makes different purchasing choices.

Totally agree. Men don’t get judged in the same way.

Four grand watch? Lovely mate, treat yourself!
Woman buying a bag, isn’t there something else you can spend your money on/stealth brag/blah blah blah.

If it’s not your thing, just walk on fucking by. Don’t be a twat to the poster for no reason.

permaconfused · 04/07/2021 21:30

I had this convo with husband an in-laws. They think nothing of spending £8-10 per bottle and drinking a few bottles of wine a week, that's about £100 a year - more than the bag I've chosen (I drink 1 mini bottle of wine once or twice a month).

I pay £15 for a hair trim 3 times a year and never get my nails done
or go out on expensive nights or trips.

I'm not trying to justify it just give it perspective.

Miseryisabutterfly · 04/07/2021 21:39

It doesn’t sound like you’d be enjoying this purchase though op! Obviously you don’t have to justify yourself and you should spend your money as you please, I think a lot of us don’t really understand why you’d buy a bag that you don’t love or particularly want (by the sounds of things).

Sexnotgender · 04/07/2021 21:40

Don’t justify anything. As long as your bills are paid set fire to your money if it makes you happy.

Enjoy your bag 🎉

MouldyPotato · 04/07/2021 21:41

Are you back to trying to decide which one OP? Do they bring out more in the winter? (I've never bought a luxury bag).

permaconfused · 04/07/2021 21:43

I love all 3 - if money no object I'd have all of them and use them for different outfits and occasions.

It's what is the most suitable and usable.

Honestly - I do love all 3. I'd have a tote as well. And the darley satchel in black and oak and the larger darley shoulder bag in black and oak.....

OP posts:
permaconfused · 04/07/2021 21:47

It's because I buy a new mulberry every 2 years but I buy one that I have missing from my collection, as it were. This is my thinking:

Daytime: black, oak and grey small Bayswater
Nighttime: black, oak and tan mini darley shoulder bag
Leisure daytime: darley satchel: black oak and grey

I'm still using my first oak small Bayswater from 4 years ago - I will keep these bags for a long time and stop when I have the set.

OP posts:
permaconfused · 04/07/2021 21:49

Oh and I'd have a tote in all 3 colours for travelling

Note: I rarely travel, go out or need all these bags -I just hope I get this life eventually Smile

OP posts:
Miseryisabutterfly · 04/07/2021 22:02

Bless you, I hope you get it!

Bumzoo · 04/07/2021 22:20

I think it's the colour. It's not great.

I was going to keep quiet but as you're returning it I don't mind saying. Keep looking, it needs to be right.

Daisy829 · 04/07/2021 22:33

I love the darley shoulder bag have you considered that rather than the mini? There’s some on sale atm I believe from what I’ve read. The only problem is I think it’s a bit short for crossbody so that puts me off a bit. It’s so nice though.

TheVampiresWife · 04/07/2021 22:45

@permaconfused you seem like a lovely person, truly. I'm sorry for the nasty comments you've had on here.

I commented on your other thread that if it doesn't make your heart sing, it's not The One. Now I see your issue is they all make your heart sing! I'd go for the most versatile in that case which for me would be the Bays. You can wear it cross body for more casual daytime looks and detach the long strap and carry it handheld for more formal occasions. It'll also blend better with whatever look you're wearing. Also (as you know!) they're surprisingly roomy and if you buy a bag liner, easy to keep organised. I get mine for £3 from Primark which should keep the Primark fans on this thread happy Grin

Incidentally the Mulberry summer sale usually starts around mid-July so it may be worth hanging on a couple of weeks anyway and 'visiting' the bags a few times to help you decide.

Good luck and I hope you find The One soon!
