Get that then

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 04/07/2021 10:10

Wait then_or do you have a date to spend by?

Katefoster · 04/07/2021 10:17

My fave is the one you've just posted. Handbags are a minefield! I really like the colour too!

crochetmonkey74 · 04/07/2021 10:27

Do the vouchers have a use by date OP? I'd be tempted to wait until winter and have another shopping trip and see what takes your fancy then.

Elsabet · 04/07/2021 10:30

I had the Darley satchel when it first came out in Oxblood but returned after one use as the inking cracked at the top/near the back. I am more of a soft leather bag lady ! Apart from the black quilted Darley I have!
I have the mini Darley you have in pink. It’s been on lots of outings, dressed up and down. I like the smoochy leather and the strap options :)

Ninkanink · 04/07/2021 10:34

Ok so it isn’t right.

Have you thought about just going wildcard - a tote? Or a hobo?

Look at the Mulberry Exchange pre-loved ones online and get an old classic?

Or buy a bigger one like the Amberley? Or maybe the Milly.

Or perhaps buy yourself something else entirely like some shoes or boots! Maybe you have all the bags you actually need/want from them?

If the vouchers don’t run out anytime soon then just chill and wait, I think.

UnreasonablyPissedOff · 04/07/2021 10:36

I don't think you love any of them enough to buy one.
And I don't love any of them enough to me able to advise you.
Why don't you wait until you see a bag you really love ?

LadyEloise · 04/07/2021 10:46

I like the first one.

Ninkanink · 04/07/2021 10:50

Autocorrect changed Millie to Milly. 😡😡 I KNOW HOW TO SPELL AND I KNOW WHAT I WANT TO WRITE!!

Ninkanink · 04/07/2021 10:53

I’m just wondering whether you’re not giving yourself enough time to get used to it. You said yourself that it’s out of your comfort zone - you’re not going to suddenly feel used to it because you’ve tried on some outfits...you’ve got to commit and actually use it! A bit like becoming the kind of person who wears a hat or who wears red lipstick - you just do it anyway even if it feels wrong or you feel self-conscious and after a while it becomes perfectly normal and you don’t even think about it.

Just out of interest, what bags do you already have?

sylbunny · 04/07/2021 10:53

I like the Clifton but they don't do it anymore which is a shame

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 04/07/2021 10:56

I like the first one best but I'm not sure that gold hardware goes with grey leather.

Hoppinggreen · 04/07/2021 10:58

I don’t really like the colour
If I am spending that much I want to love it

RunnerDown · 04/07/2021 10:59

What about an Alexa . There are more casual. I have a mini Alexa in this colour. I think it would go with most things that grey would .
I also have a belted Bayswater satchel, which is quite a plain bag .

(And in what colours)

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 04/07/2021 11:03

You cannot buy a bag like that without trying in first.

See how comfortable is it and how it looks on you.

As for the price, I have two expensive bags and I've been wearing them pretty much everyday for over ten years, I had them sent to the manufacturer for a clean and service, but I have; t had to replace them, yet. In my books that was a good buy.

OP has tried it. She was in the shop yesterday.
Ninkanink · 04/07/2021 11:05

@RunnerDown I was actually going to suggest the Alexa.

I bet OP already has one, though! That would just be our luck! Grin

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 04/07/2021 11:05

Sorry, must have missed the update.

If you're not 100% then don't buy any of them.

permaconfused · 04/07/2021 11:06

In answer to the questions. I'm a plain dresser, neat stuff, clean lines.

Rarely wear necklaces but when I do, they're delicate - silver and gold.

I like summery patterns but shoes will always be flat colours.

I wear very little makeup and have dead straight long hair.

permaconfused · 04/07/2021 11:07

I have the heritage small muberry cross body satchel in oak. The small updated Bayswater in black. I have an old cross body, square and plain, calf leather

permaconfused · 04/07/2021 11:08

I get sore shoulders - so light bag is a must

OP posts:
permaconfused · 04/07/2021 11:08

I think I've talked myself back into the grey, darley satchel

Ninkanink · 04/07/2021 11:13

You fit the picture I had in my head perfectly!

Ok so I’m not sure about the Alexa, in that case.

Have you seen Emma Hill on YouTube/Instagram? If not, have a look at the bags she’s carrying right now. Maybe it’s time to change things up a bit - perhaps you don’t need or want a crossbody bag after all. EH has a YouTube video (maybe from about 2 months ago) on her summer wardrobe key pieces. Look in there at the big totes she’s carrying. Similar to the Portobello. Might be something to consider.
