Am I the only person who can't abide that 'stand with one foot forward and heel raised' look?

That is adopted in just about every photo I see? Or even just standing on tiptoes if in bear feet? I find it irrationally annoying.

And no it doesn't affect me in any way I'm just having a (light-hearted) moan!

This kind of pose is what I mean, no one seems to be natural when they have their photo taken any more. It's the foot raised off the floor that irritates me more than anything, it's so fake. I started this as a light-hearted thread but a friend posted a photo of her 11 year old daughter last night and she is actually standing in a very similar way. Leg to the front, heel raised off the floor. The comment beside is was 'my girl knows how to pose lol'. 🙄

Yeah naff af. See also tongue touching top teeth. Just stop.

LunaNorth · 20/06/2021 08:20

Agree with all above, but the one I hate most is the hunched over, knock-kneed, piegeon-toed, looking up through eyelashes bollocks.

‘Oh I’m so wickle, I can hardly hold my head up. And if this shoot is for Zara, I’m also depressed as fuck.’

Awful.

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 20/06/2021 08:35

Pigeon pose????

AutoGroup · 20/06/2021 08:41

I participate in competitive sports and in the after photos all my team mates do a version of this. I can't bring myself to do it and it is noticable in the photos that I'm the only one standing normally differently. It does make them look slimmer which is ridiculous becuase they're all athletes in good condition, they don't need to look slimmer.

I have been sucked in a bit though because I know if I stand with my legs slightly apart, so there's light between them, my legs look much thinner.

Cattitudes · 20/06/2021 08:46

In that last picture it looks as if they are mid hokey cokey but one of them mixed up their right and left foot.

Mombie · 20/06/2021 08:49

I see people doing this pose with no shoes on and it reminds me of a shoeless Barbie. Also hate, hate, hate the ‘cool’ squatting down, legs akimbo, camera shot from the ground up.

I’m not a prude but I keep seeing this sort of thing in online shopping stores, when trying to buy clothes for my teen. It is really annoying that this has become a standard modelling pose. I want to see the clothes not a close up of your backside/fanny.

@elQuintoConyo

JaneJeffer that second pic looks like me trying to wee my name in the snow! Without a stencil Grin
🤣

The now ubiquitous Knee Pop. I see it in the photos of my friends who are under 30 who just seem to not even question it. Those of us over 40 are still stuck doing poses like we're in the class photo and saying cheese and thinking that taking pics never used to be so complicated.
I wonder if it will look dated soon like ducklips very quickly became?

LadyWithLapdog · 20/06/2021 08:57

Teenage DD does a version of this foot forward leaning in when she poses with her friends. She’s much taller than them and it brings them closers to the same level. She’s 5’8” and a bit self-conscious.

This this this. I hate this so much.
dudsville · 20/06/2021 08:59

But later I'm going to stand in front of a mirror and try to barefoot barbie thing.

Nohomemadecandles · 20/06/2021 09:06

Like human dressage!

Yes, yes, yes to this too. It's so shit.

I'm a member of a FB buying group for a particular brand of clothes. There's a seller on there who models all the clothes she sells in barefoot Barbie mode (up on tiptoes, one leg to the front). It annoys me so much, I can't bring myself to buy anything from here even if I wanted to. Grin

Oh OP you’ve just reminded me of a FB fashion woman who does this ridiculous leg out to the side pose while leaning back. I actually unfollowed her page despite the clothes being gorgeous because her pose annoyed me so much. And it seemed to become more exaggerated with every new outfit.

Those are actually toned down versions! It was really bad a few months back when I unfollowed.

Why would anyone think this is a good look???

UhtredRagnarson · 20/06/2021 09:58

Exactly!! It’s so forced and unnatural. Nobody walks around like that.

YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie · 20/06/2021 09:59

@OrchidLass I know exactly who you mean and she was my very first thought on seeing this thread Grin

ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 20/06/2021 10:04

Glad there's photos as I wasn't sure either. It does look odd, a few look a bit like they holding a fart in.

It's equivalent to that daft feet wide apart stance some men do (and not always for photos). It starts amusing me when their feet are wider than thier shoulders

Sosomego · 20/06/2021 10:12

Whatever you do, don't follow dresslikeamum on Instagram. She's constantly posing like this, it really distracts me from the clothes she is supposed to be advertising.

@YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie It's not just me then?!!! Grin She's an attractive woman and I've no idea why she would make herself look so silly in her pics.

The one foot forward, I’ve seen a few where the angle gives the one leg flamingo look.
