Am I the only person who can't abide that 'stand with one foot forward and heel raised' look?

That is adopted in just about every photo I see? Or even just standing on tiptoes if in bear feet? I find it irrationally annoying.

And no it doesn't affect me in any way I'm just having a (light-hearted) moan!

I don’t know why women do this. It makes them look like horses, training for dressage.

cittigirl · 20/06/2021 15:54

That and pouting trout faces I cannot stand. No, it really isn't a good look.

YourCakesAreShit · 20/06/2021 16:00

Oh, I don't know. I quite like seeing how clothes would look on me if I became a round-shouldered contortionist.

PeacheyPeach · 20/06/2021 16:24

I actually don't mind it when it's s pic of model in funny positions as this has always been the case hasnt it, but I just don't understand why people pose for pics stand with that mad foot thing or the tounge up on teeth, or the looking down smiling and you are meant to think that they don't know their pic is being taken!! It's all so fake isn't it. I'm so basic in my pictures !!!

Oldraver · 20/06/2021 16:38

Ive been looking at George today for my favourite linen dresses and all the poses are ridiculous not forgetting all the frills

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 20/06/2021 16:46

I'm quite tempted to adopt that second pose JaneJeffer posted in all photos from now on. The bafflement on people's faces would be worth the physio bill Grin

PatchworkElmer · 20/06/2021 17:21

Yep, hate it. And the ‘put my hand on my hip to make my waist look slimmer’ one

LunaNorth · 20/06/2021 17:30

I remember Trinny and Susannah back in the day, telling us how to pose so we look slimmer in our holiday photos.

Hand on hip so your arm fat doesn’t spread out, tongue pressed to the roof of your mouth to tighten your double chin, one leg in front of the other for reasons unclear.

It’s the classic Daily Mail stretchy dress and nude heels pose.

My old boss used to do this ! Especially if she was holding up clothes to look at on herself. She was 80's queen in the 2000's! Looked so silly.
Glitterandglow · 20/06/2021 18:12

It drives me nuts 🤣

Redcrayons · 20/06/2021 19:02

Can I introduce you to Never Fully Dressed?
I suppose showing the split is so high you can see your Fanny might be a selling point for some.
FB keep spamming me with this and I click on it like a fool every time to tut at it.

Redcrayons · 20/06/2021 19:02

Pic didn’t post.

PLEASE comment and ask why she's stood like a drag Queen?!
BessMarvin · 20/06/2021 20:26

I have no idea what the tongue on teeth thing is but it sounds annoying.

What I don't get is when people take selfies, particularly when but not limited to they are showing their outfit, where it is like the camera is right above their head and all you can see is their face looking up and hardly any of the rest of them.

SouthOfFrance · 20/06/2021 20:37

This thread is spot on.

I also hate the both hands on hips, shoulders rotated forwards, sticky out collarbones thing.

AdaColeman · 20/06/2021 20:53

The worst are those who stand with their legs crossed, as though they are at the back of a very long queue for the Ladies!
Zara Tindall loves this pose!

SouthOfFrance · 20/06/2021 23:10

AdaColeman good addition to the most hated poses there! Often done whilst holding a clutch bag, I'd like to add Grin

MeadowLines · 20/06/2021 23:20

@UhtredRagnarson she looks like she's poohed herself!

Nohomemadecandles · 21/06/2021 14:06

There's a Facebook clothes shop on my feed and she's doing the horse leg pose on every single shot of every item she sells. I've only just noticed and now I can't un-notice!

purplesequins · 21/06/2021 14:07

I can't stand it either (and it makes me look fat for some reason)

KingPong · 21/06/2021 14:09

The tongue/teeth thing looks awful. Jesy Nelson is a prolific offender.

KingPong · 21/06/2021 14:10

It doesn’t look sexy, it looks like your tongue is so large you can’t close your mouth.

TaraR2020 · 21/06/2021 14:22

I always wondered why I was never able to achieve this pose - turned out I needed to lift the heel! Grin

Gave up and resigned to looking fat and awkward in every pic taken of me...Although if anyone can tell me how I stop my shoulder-nearest-the-camera looking huge that would be great! (Genuine question lol)

I have a cousin who follows these modelling rules in photos, whenever she's photographed at a wedding it always looks like she's trying to outshine the bride.

Gullible2021 · 21/06/2021 14:30

I hate it. I went to a wedding (covid safe!) at the weekend where the majority of the women under 45 were doing it but then when the little girls there from 2
to 7 were having their photos taken, they were also taking it very seriously, hand
on hip, stood at an angle, foot out.
It was genuinely sad to see. But their
mums were all whooping and congratulating them in a "that's my little model"
sort of way.

So contrived.

borntobequiet · 21/06/2021 14:31

I had to stop looking at fashion photos decades ago because they annoyed me so much. (The one that made the models look as though they suffered from rickets as a child was the worst.) The Sunday supplements were among the worst offenders, exacerbated by the wittering articles written by friends and relatives of the editor, unfortunately educated beyond their ability as a result of attending the right school.
I sometimes read Hello when I’m at the hairdresser as annoying poses by models are offset by the expressions of bemused delight of many so-called celebrities, rightfully surprised they’ve been successful enough to feature in such a publication. I quite like these.
