I want to treat myself and buy a really nice gemstone, cocktail ring.

I don't want to get married again so I will never have an engagement ring again. But I really like gemstone rings and I want to buy a nice one to enjoy and then to give to my daughter one day. I really like morganite or sapphire but I am open to all gemstones.

Any ideas? Do any of you wear that kind of thing?

Here’s mine. I’m usually a delicate, silver ring person but passed this in a local jeweller & had to have it!

Excuse hands and the fact it’s a bit understated. 😀

@Mimmi78

I saw this aquamarine and HAD to have it! I love it and it's often commented on!
That's beautiful @Mimmi78 I used to have a similar aquamarine ring my mum bought me years ago but it was stolen in a burglary a few years ago, along with pretty much all my jewellery Sad

Great thread.

I'd love to get a ring commissioned, I turn 50 in January so maybe that's the time to do it!

Like the idea upthread of using your children's birthstones - mine are January (garnet), February (amethyst) and May (emerald), do you think they would work together?

Stretchandsnap · 14/06/2021 09:39

This is my cocktail ring, my mum bought it for me when I got married - it’s citrine and diamond. I love it and wear it a lot. I’d like to get a topaz like @TheVampiresWife - beautiful ring!

That's lovely @Stretchandsnap so unusual.

I love the rings on this site -

@bendmeoverbackwards go for it. A local jeweller made a beautiful ring for his daughter Grace's birthday, a modern design with garnet, ruby, amethyst, chrysoberyl and emerald (slightly guessing on the last two, but I'm sure he said emerald

There’s a fab jewellers I’ve visited in Bath which designs and makes the jewellery in-store! They have some stunning rings that I covet in their window, and I’ve seen some beautiful designs on the website and social media. I’m saving up to have a bespoke piece made for a big birthday best year!

Sorry next not best!

This thread has made me realise its an awfully long time since I wore any of my 'cocktail rings'. In fact quite a lot of my jewellery has stayed in its box since before the first lockdown as I've not been going out much. My Nana's beautiful sapphire ring hasn't seen the light of day for over a year. I've got out of the habit of choosing different jewellery each day. And I've not painted my nails for months. I'm going to start making an effort.

I made the mistake of looking on the insta (no prices) before the website (hefty prices) - I just now close that website! Seriously though, great recommendation, some lovely stuff.

Bought the Pearl one today whilst away for a few days in Lincolnshire antiques shopping - it’s set in 18 carat gold and was a real bargain

I have a weakness for cocktail rings and other jewellery from Tjc auctions. They start from £1 and if you don't get carried away you can get real bargains in silver or gold or plated silver with impressive looking unusual gemstones. They are really good with returns if the item doesn't quite work for you too. It's worth doing a search on the main part of the site for videos and reviews and to compare the normal price. I've been impressed by everything I've bought except for some pearls which were poor. Just tried some photos but a bit out of focus so will gave a go later.

grownup2 · 15/06/2021 21:17

All from Tjc auctions about £20 each and a lot of fun in silver or plated silver with real gemstones.

Lovely thread. Here are 2 of mine. Rubies, emeralds, diamonds in stacking 4 layer ring.
Opals and diamonds in gold.
Both left to me by a wonderful older lady who loved her jewels.
