I need to invest in some summer dresses to wear with white trainers or flat leather sandals.

Early 40s, size 12-14.

Pictures and links all gratefully received Smile

I also bought this from hush
www.hush-uk.com/v-neck-jersey-midi-dress-dark-graphic-floral/001991-3518.html

I’m 5ft and it’s a really great fit and length. The quality is amazing.

So that’s basically 3 dresses off the back of this thread Shock

Hotcuppatea · 02/06/2021 15:25

@Oly4 Just ordered that M&S dress. It's perfect for some parties I have this summer.

Caesargeezer · 02/06/2021 17:43

These suggestions have been so helpful, thanks everyone!

RachyAnn34 · 02/06/2021 19:05

that's great thanks, I'll take a look on silk Fred I've never heard of that company before.
I've been tempted to buy from shein before but was worried the items wouldn't arrive. might have to try them out too.

RachyAnn34 · 02/06/2021 19:38

oh no, I've gone from finding nothing I like to alot of things i like, silk Fred has some lovely dresses.

EllaPaella · 02/06/2021 19:46

@Horehound it's arrived- I really like it. Needs a good iron though as it was a crumpled when it arrived.

AnnieSnap · 03/06/2021 00:03

@mellongoose thanks for the link. I like the dress (in a non maternity version), but couldn’t find it. I have never looked at New Look. I usually shop at Hush, Boden and Baukjen. Based on your link, I have just bought two pairs of shorts, a top, a jumpsuit and a playsuit (oh how I loath that term. What are we Bunnies FFS?) for less than the cost of one dress at the other places 😮 There is a fair bit of Polyester and perhaps trashy styles. Everything I have order is cotton, viscose or a mix of both though, so I’m a happy bunny (not enough to call it a playsuit though 😳).

I’m back to report on some of the things up thread. The M&S tiered halter neck dresses are nice but come up big so size down. The red one is going back as it washes me out. Ditto the Mango dresses, which are lovely, but I only needed a 10 (usually a 10 top/12 bottom)

mammmamia · 05/06/2021 13:51

My mango dress (in red) just arrived and it’s lovely.

Very thin Indian cotton so more of a casual look but will still make an impact. I’m 5’5” and quite slim - fits perfectly. And it has pockets!

LunaNorth · 05/06/2021 15:31

The Mango ones are lovely but very transparent! I’ve had to dig out and chop five inches off the bottom of an old half-slip to hide my knickers!

Vargas · 05/06/2021 16:35

No joy for me with the Mango dresses, a bit too voluminous in all the wrong places and the sleeve length didn't suit me.

mammmamia · 05/06/2021 17:39

Oh dear I better check that, but if it’s a bit transparent I guess it’s ok for casual wear, better make sure I wear decent underwear with it Grin
Casiloco · 05/06/2021 19:11

The Biden Effie and Apricot are the winners so far!!

PickledWilly · 05/06/2021 20:29

The mango one was delivered today - awful! Unlined, totally see through and made my hips look ginormous. Going straight back

mammmamia · 05/06/2021 22:25

I wore the mango one today - so comfy and flattering on me (I think) but agree it’s more of a beach dress as no lining and very thin cotton. I’ll enjoy wearing it to picnics etc this summer though.

ImbarbaraB · 06/06/2021 21:05

I didn’t mind the material of the mango dress but didn’t suit me at all.

I’ve got quite a high waist and it just didn’t sit int he right place to look flattering on me and accentuated my hips

It’s going back

EmmaStone · 06/06/2021 22:18

Just bought this one: www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-animal-print-tiered-midi-dress-green/p5329844. Long sleeves, so should work for spring/autumn.

Dellabob123 · 08/06/2021 11:17

Quick update from me. The mango dress in navy is absolutely gorgeous. Just perfect and floaty enough with pockets. I dont appear to have an issue with see through?

The m and s dress is also gorgeous but made for someone who is 7 ft. I’ll have to take it up about 6 inches at the waist but I’m keeping as it’s gorgeous!

The mango dress is the holy grail of floaty dress for me!

MareofBeasttown · 08/06/2021 11:27

My mango dress in red is STILL on the way. A Nobody's Child dress made me look like a pregnant sister-wife from Utah, so going back. And a basic black Uniqlo dress has just arrived.

MareofBeasttown · 08/06/2021 18:53

Updated: just got my Mango dress in red and I love it! Thanks to whoever suggested it. Definitely a bit see through and runs a bit big; debating whether to exchange for a smaller size. I think best suited to apples like me. V floaty in the skirt and not flattering for pear shapes.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 08/06/2021 19:31

Just bought this...its gorgeous.
@AnnaBegins this dress is lovely! What are the sizing like? I've never ordered from Apricot before but I love this dress.
@Ellieboolou33 apologies I only just saw this! It's perfectly true to size but very long, I'm a size 14 and 5'6 and the 14 is perfect, tried on the 16 which was fine but the 14 hung better.
