Do people moisturise their whole body after every bath/shower?

Or how often? And if so, with what? Have you any good everyday recommendations that are not too expensive, as I assume it takes a lot of product??
I have got very lazy with lockdown and don't think I have moisturised my whole body in over a year ...

Yep. I use Vaseline intensive care lotion (the green aloe one) as it’s absorbed quickly. Once a week-ish I use a body oil instead.

Wafflewombat · 14/05/2021 18:25

Nope.

MooMinCow · 14/05/2021 18:25

Yes after every shower with Cerave lotion. Lightweight and absorbs quickly. I’m Asian with dark skin and my skin looks grey and ashy if I don’t moisturise every day!

Whattherapy2020 · 14/05/2021 18:26

I smother baby oil on just before I get out of the shower. Takes 20 seconds to rub it in. Then wipe off with towel. So easy and leaves my skin so soft.
Plus its cheap.

MamaWeasel · 14/05/2021 18:26

No. Though my best friend does so religiously, using vaseline intensive care. I bung a bit of poundland body butter on my feet if I can be arsed.

FeistySheep · 14/05/2021 18:28

No. Skin makes sebum - it moisturises itself.
I use gentle soap, not shower gel etc, so the shower doesn't strip my skin of moisture.

Aloadaballs · 14/05/2021 18:28

I don’t but I should! On the rare occasion I do I’ll use what ever I have on hand, I did love Avon dry oil spray but no Avon where I live now. I’ll be following this with interest!

Somepeoplemightthink · 14/05/2021 18:30

I second Vaseline intensive care lotion. Great stuff. I saw a difference in my skin within a couple of uses in one week

Tee20x · 14/05/2021 18:30

100% twice a day - coconut oil or Aveeno.

Iheartmysmart · 14/05/2021 18:31

Yep every time I shower otherwise I get really itchy skin. I like Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa, in the tub if I can get it, or Soap & Glory. It only takes a few minutes.

FakeTanandProsecco · 14/05/2021 18:32

Yep I use E45 Daily Cream mostly, sometimes Aveeno. My skin gets dry and scaly if I don't. I moisturise as soon as I get out the shower so I don't need as much product. I notice within a couple of days if I don't use it.

PomegranateQueen · 14/05/2021 18:32

Only if I shower or have a bath in the evening.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 14/05/2021 18:49

E45 lotion on good days, emollient the rest of the time.

Helps keep the psoriasis vaguely under control.

ZaraW · 14/05/2021 18:50

No I use hand cream only. I don't have dry skin.

FreshFaceTime · 14/05/2021 18:52

Nivea in-shower moisturiser to save time on weekdays. Body cream/ lotion/ butter/ oil/ whatever at weekends when I'm not in a rush.

lunasunshine · 14/05/2021 18:54

I do my legs religiously but nowhere else. I normally use a Body Shop butter or yoghurt Smile

OnTheSafeSide · 14/05/2021 18:56

Thanks all, think I need to raise my game - have ordered Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe and Johnson's Baby OIl, so will see how I get on. Thanks for all your input :-)

Yes -twice a day. In morning after my shower and in evening after bath

Variety of body oils & butters - sine cheap , some expensive . I have pretty dry skin - I also like matching product sone times to perfume in daytime

ChrissyPlummer · 14/05/2021 19:01

Lower legs and elbows. I use Dirty Works, you can get it at Sainsbury’s.

Luckyelephant1 · 14/05/2021 19:01

Yes, I have dryish skin and if I don't moisturise I feel yuck all day and my clothes feel horrible on my skin. If its warm and I have my legs out I slather on loads. Currently using Soap and Glory which is great but I do change it up, others I go for are Nivea, Palmers cocoa butter or Aveeno-depends what's on offer at the time!

To me it's a non-negotiable bit of 'self-care', almost like a quick massage after showering and it helps boost circulation too, my skin seems to wake up and look less greyish when I do it.

Tangledtresses · 14/05/2021 19:09

Only in the summer!

Gwenhwyfar · 14/05/2021 19:12

Yes. I read about it in a magazine as a teenager and have done it every since. I now have dry skin so use Neutrogena hand cream over my whole body.
I was surprised to read on MN that most women don't do this.
It also explains why I'm happy with threadbare towels. I only use towels to wrap around myself. I hardly ever actually dry myself with them.
I also avoid unnecessary showering because it makes my skin drier.

Gwenhwyfar · 14/05/2021 19:13

@FeistySheep

No. Skin makes sebum - it moisturises itself. I use gentle soap, not shower gel etc, so the shower doesn't strip my skin of moisture.
Water itself strips your skin of oil. Not as bad as soap, but it does. I presume you just have greasy or normal skin. If you had dry skin, you would definitely need to moisturise after a shower or bath.
Gwenhwyfar · 14/05/2021 19:15

Before I found my hand cream, I was using Body shop shea butter or Palmers for rough skin, which worked OK on my KP.

Pinkandwrinkly · 14/05/2021 19:17

Aloadaballs Avon are online too. It's possible to buy their products without a local rep.
