And if so, how would you style it?

I'm a bit out my depth really Blush

The dress is so perfect on you! I agree with a PP that it looks better on you than the model.

And a big no to those black sandals someone posted. Gold or tan sandals or wedges would be perfect 🤩

Ski37 · 14/05/2021 00:09

I love the dress and I think it looks gorgeous on you. I’m very much a jeans and hoody person and always feel ‘overdressed’ in most things that isn’t my day to day wear no matter how dressed up everyone else is. I would definitely wear that to the Titz and I think I would feel amazing wearing it, as you should too! I’d personally style it with flat sandals ( but I can’t walk in heels as I’m so clumsy).

Don’t go for something more ‘dressed up’ just because you feel you should . There’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable - either physically or psychologically- when you should be just enjoying yourself ( I’ve learnt from experience).

Guavafish · 14/05/2021 00:17

You can go to the ritz for afternoon tea in jeans and a T-shirt

KM38 · 14/05/2021 00:37

@NaiceAftTea OP, you look incredible in that dress! 😍 I’m so jealous 😂 Maxi dresses make me look like a genuine potato 🙈 You wear it far better than the model does - it looks shapeless on her!

Personally I’d wear it with a tan shoe or boot 😊 or a metallic - I’d probably go gold 😊 and I agree with sticking a pair of trainers or something in your bag for walking around after 😊 unless you’re planning on buying that Mulberry that you posted (which is gorg 😍) - in which case I wouldn’t bother carting trainers along with me, I’d treat myself to them in the shops after the tea and just put them straight on 😁

You and your DD both sound amazing from this thread! Get dressed up and have a fabulous time ❤️ It sounds like a day that’ll be really special for you both!

ilovesushi · 14/05/2021 00:57

Wear whatever you feel good in!

InglouriousBasterd · 14/05/2021 01:01

Oh that looks absolutely gorgeous on you! Have a wonderful time, what a beautiful celebration.

Dasher789 · 14/05/2021 01:19

@NaiceAftTea

Realised forgot the photo Hmm

Please please be gentle.

When I started reading this thread I didnt much care for the dress but it looks stunning on you OP. Enjoy your afternoon tea.
Mandalay246 · 14/05/2021 02:22

You look gorgeous OP - have a wonderful time at the Titz with your DD.

Laughing at those who think the dress is suitable for watching cricket or a barbeque. You would look so out of place in my country. Smile Smile

1forAll74 · 14/05/2021 02:35

It's an ok dress, maybe for going round to the vicars house for tea and cakes, with some other well dressed flowery dressed church goers.

But not for going to the Savoy, or Claridges.

SpeckledyHen · 14/05/2021 06:24

You look fabulous! Have an amazing time and please report back!

TolkiensFallow · 14/05/2021 06:34

Just found the photo ! No need to be gentle, you look fabulous. Absolutely perfect for tea at the tits, then mincing round London and a drink in the sun! I actually think it fits the bill perfectly, well done you x

greymayday · 14/05/2021 06:49

Echoing everyone saying you look amazing - they should have that photo of you on the website rather than the model as when you shared the link I wasn’t keen but seeing it on you has made me want to buy it Grin

merrymelody · 14/05/2021 06:52

Ummm... grab your guitar and sandals.

elliemara · 14/05/2021 07:12

You look GORGEOUS OP! I like the dress better on you than on the model too!

RaisinFlapjack · 14/05/2021 07:17

Another agreement that you look fabulous and the dress looks better on you than on the model. It’s perfect!

With tea at the Titz there will be people properly dressed up like it’s a wedding and people who look like they’ve just wandered in off the street. Either of those is fine but I think you’re in the perfect happy medium.

PurBal · 14/05/2021 07:27

I think it's fine for tea but I wouldn't risk it for the dining room.

whatswithtodaytoday · 14/05/2021 07:47

It's a lovely dress OP and you look fabulous in it. In fact I'm exactly the same size and shape as you and I'm now annoyed it's sold out, you've convinced me I need it! Perfect for the Ritz.

Definitely do not wear new shoes or trainers to walk around London. I'd probably wear it with flat gold or tan sandals (def not black), and take comfy trainers in your bag. It's quite a lot of dress so you don't need much jewellery - maybe some bracelets or dangly earrings.

I'm now going to stalk the Boden website until it comes back into stock...

Parker231 · 14/05/2021 07:55

The last time we had afternoon tea at the Titz, some people were wearing jeans and others were dressed for a royal wedding. OP is going to look the best. Have a lovely time and report back afterwards.

Gwynnie79 · 14/05/2021 08:02

I love that dress and it looks fabulous on you, I would definitely dress it in a 70s Boho vibe with some heeled sandals (esska have some amazing block heeled sandals in some lovely colours which I'm loving at the moment.) How lovely to go out for afternoon tea with your daughter. A real treat enjoy. X

Hoppinggreen · 14/05/2021 08:18

You look lovely x

Squiz81 · 14/05/2021 08:26

It looks really lovely on you. And you look much smaller than I was expecting after how you describe yourself!

I’d wear a simple gold necklace - or maybe layer a few up for a boho look.

If it’s not too long I’d opt for flat sandals in tan or gold. If you need a heel, I’d go for wedges.

Hope you have a lovely day!

AlTempleton · 14/05/2021 09:00

I'm a lurker on S&B, but I just wanted to post and say that dress looks really really lovely on you, OP. It's perfect. And also that you sound a truly nice person. Enjoy your special day.

MazDazzle · 14/05/2021 09:18

It really suits you!

Sisisimone · 14/05/2021 09:58

Some God-awful smarmy comments on here just designed to try and put the OP down. You'd also have to be an idiot to wear a fully lined, long sleeved dress on the beach. And Arf at the cricket on the green comment. Really hoping thats some sort of satirical commentary rather than ajust someone being a complete and utter A Hole. Why do people have to be such twats?

OP you look really lovely in that dress. I didn't really like it on the website but it looks great on you.
I dont think a cardigan would match. Hopefully you won't need one in June. Maybe just take your denim jacket with you for later if you think you will need it on the day. I'd buy some lovely flat sandals to go with it or maybe some tan sandals with a clog type heel.
Word of warning re buying Vejas to walk around afterwards . They are notoriously uncomfortable. You may be better finding flat sandals you can walk comfortably in or looking at other trainer options.
Hope you have an amazing day. The story about your daughter and mum is truly lovely.

Ninkanink · 14/05/2021 10:04

Yes if you get vejas you will definitely have to wear them in first.

But more importantly, they won’t fit in your lovely Mulberry bag! However you could carry an additional canvas bag (for London purchases!😊😊) and your trainers could go in there.
