Fellow big breasted women, I need YOUR help! Let's find flattering Summer styles.

Hello,

I am starting this thread after one too many failed shopping orders for Summer dresses! I am a 34 KK and have bras sorted (Bravissimo is fab!). Why is it SO hard to find summer dresses that are cut for big boobs?

After much failure, I think I need scoop/v-neck dresses that are tighter on the bodice and flow out to midi length. Love a bit of a sleeve too as it makes hiding bra straps easier. Having had two babies, I am bigger than I was and a 14/16 now so looser stuff that still nips in at the waist is better. I am just finding it so hard! Wraps do not work for me and buttons often gape and I feel like it's so hard not to look frumpy with a huge boobs.

Next don't seem to cut for bigger boobs and sizing up makes the shoulder area look ridiculous! Tried Joules but the same thing applies. Thinking about HUSH maybe but it's pricey. Has anyone found any real gems that fit the above criteria? Help! Here are some I am thinking of trying...

That website looks great QueenPaw thank you!

For vests I have got on well with the long line vests from Kettlewell. They have bra-covering straps and are long enough to cover all midriff even when I’m stretching up. They are washing well and they have loads of lovely colours too. I use them for layering usually.

NellietheNumpty · 26/05/2021 18:00

Thanks for all the recommendations for vests. I find them so useful for layering. Again if they are longer they give coverage.
I am pleased with the dress feedback too. I did have doubts.

NellietheNumpty · 26/05/2021 18:20

@katplva
I have just ordered a kettlwell vest.

katplva · 26/05/2021 18:32

@NellietheNumpty let me know what you think of them. They’re not the cheapest but I’ve had so many cheaper vests that go odd-shaped after washing, or don’t come down long enough when boobs are taken into account - I’ve a long torso as well as 32FFs so length is important to me!

Great thread! This might work - www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350202663.aspx#shoppingtool=internalcampaign

QueenPaw · 26/05/2021 21:12

@millymaid oh that's lovely! I've been looking at some dresses on mountain warehouse that look good, their sizing is usually generous

Ratsindahouse · 27/05/2021 02:34

I have 2 of each colour in these snd wear them practically every day under jumpers, shirts etc. Best ever!

34/36H here. I found the Boden Amelie dress pretty good. Bought it in the Long fit which means that the waist band sits correctly rather than being hoiked up.

katplva · 29/05/2021 21:29

@NellietheNumpty I’m so glad! The colours can be a bit off-putting as there are so many of them, but they do have neutrals that work well too.

Ringsender2 · 29/05/2021 22:53

Fellow norker delurking. I love the Winser London link above.

Whoever said they avoid clothes with a waist to avoid accentuating the boobage - nooo! Make sure you have some waist shape in your clothes or you'll look like a bedouin tent. I made this mistske for years. In last 5 or so I've realised my error. It doesn't have to be skin tight on boob or waist, but waist does have to be acknowledged as part of your shape.

Interested to hear about Bravissimo fitting being good. I'm (age 50) finally in the right size but took years. Have lost a bit of weight and shrunk to 30G.

NellietheNumpty · 30/05/2021 19:36

@Ratsindahouse.
Those vests look great. Do you have one, are they straight or flared? I want to tuck them in as a layer to stop gap.

MummyMayo1988 · 30/05/2021 22:07

I feel this post sooo much.
I'm a 34JJ - they went up with ever child I had and never went back down.
Summer dresses always seem to have spaghetti straps which look horrible with thick bra straps.
I have taken to - in recent years - to sticking to shirt dressed that completely cover my shoulders.
I also buy all my bras from Bravissimo. They are a literal god send. Just a shame their clothes are soo expensive 😫

katplva · 30/05/2021 22:24

@HoldontoOneMoreDay thanks for the recommendation - I wore the hush dress you linked to today and it was lovely and easy to wear. I did add a belt to give it a little more waist definition, but no issues with boob room or bra showing which is usually the problem with summer dresses.

Ratsindahouse · 30/05/2021 22:46

@ NellietheNumpty
They are straight and pretty long. Wide straps to cover bras. I find hush pretty good in general for my large knockers!

KatharinaRosalie · 31/05/2021 06:34

I agree with GreenClock that Tall sizes often fit better even if you are not tall. More room for boobs. I recently bought a normal jumpsuit from Boden but boobs pulled the fabric up so much it gave me a massive wedgie. Swapped to long size and it fits beautifully, even if they claim that long is for people over 5'10'' and I'm just 5'6''

Today's dress for lunch with DH is from Apricot.

I love the green version @katplva Is it true to size?

bendmeoverbackwards · 31/05/2021 17:43

I feel frumpy in a lot of dresses, I don’t even know why. They look good in the picture but feel mumsy in them. Maybe it’s the print? 🤷‍♀️

That’s lovely @NellietheNumpty 😍
NellietheNumpty · 31/05/2021 19:21

@bendmeoverbackwards.
Thanks. I had a lovely time too.
I saw so many beautiful women of all ages enjoying the sun and free time. I saw many styles of clothing but the point was they were happy.
Saying that there were no dresses I could have worn except my own.

Musmerian · 31/05/2021 20:08

I got this &ET linen top from Stitch fix and although this isn’t a great photo it’s a very flattering v neck wrap.

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 31/05/2021 20:38

Oh I'm so pleased @katplva (and feel like I might have finally 'arrived' on S&B Wink)
It genuinely hasn't been warm enough here to wear mine yet!

katplva · 31/05/2021 21:45

@bendmeoverbackwards Yes, it’s slightly big fitting if anything. I am usually a 12-14 and I got the size 12 which fits perfectly for me, boobs and all. It’s a bit empire line on me so it hangs well over stomach and hips etc.
