Fellow big breasted women, I need YOUR help! Let's find flattering Summer styles.

Hello,

I am starting this thread after one too many failed shopping orders for Summer dresses! I am a 34 KK and have bras sorted (Bravissimo is fab!). Why is it SO hard to find summer dresses that are cut for big boobs?

After much failure, I think I need scoop/v-neck dresses that are tighter on the bodice and flow out to midi length. Love a bit of a sleeve too as it makes hiding bra straps easier. Having had two babies, I am bigger than I was and a 14/16 now so looser stuff that still nips in at the waist is better. I am just finding it so hard! Wraps do not work for me and buttons often gape and I feel like it's so hard not to look frumpy with a huge boobs.

Next don't seem to cut for bigger boobs and sizing up makes the shoulder area look ridiculous! Tried Joules but the same thing applies. Thinking about HUSH maybe but it's pricey. Has anyone found any real gems that fit the above criteria? Help! Here are some I am thinking of trying...

Thank you. It's still in stock too, if you're tempted!

Great thread! I’ve found my (boobalicious) gang Grin

LividBlabber · 23/05/2021 22:36

Screw this group.

I’ve just ordered four Silk Fred shirt dresses and then that necessitated of course an array of undergarments and some Adidas Superstars.

My bank account hates you all Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/05/2021 07:52

Just bought this jumpsuit.

I'm very tempted by this sun dress...

I ordered this and it fits so nicely and tucks right in at the waist. Although my 34Fs are positively teeny tiny on this thread I usually struggle with finding enough boob room.

Ceramicsandsoftfurnishings · 24/05/2021 22:34

Hello all!

SO i have some updates.

Firstly- Nobody's Child was a total fail. Definitely not cut for bigger boobs and very thin. Not good on me at all! May have had a little cry post-haul and another look at breast reduction surgery...

However my Hush order came and I have kept four things! It's a LOT more than I would usually pay however after trying Next, M&S, Joules, FatFace, White Stuff, ASOS, New Look and Nobody's Child I will take what I can get. And four dresses is all that I need for Summer, most will work in the autumn too with Boots or converse and a jacket.

Happy to brave taking some photos if it would help anyone? Let me know.

I am a true 14/16 but the 34KK boobs push me into a 16 or 18. I am 5ft 8 for info with a bit of a post-babies wobbly tum and big hips/thighs.

Peony tea dress - FAIL. No stretch or gape allowance at all. Ordered in a size 16. Ordered a 16 and it was terrible. Also very frumpy looking. www.hush-uk.com/peony-printed-tea-dress-mini-animal-stone/001398-3062-16.html

Kensington - A dream. This has a double layer behind the buttons so although there is a slight pull in the 16 you can't tell. It's just slightly too loose everywhere else in a 16 but the elasticated waist means I can get away with it and it's so comfy. Pockets too! Mega flattering dress. www.hush-uk.com/kensington-shirt-dress-floral-animal-pink-red/001717-3081.html

Penelope - I wasn't going to keep this but my family loved it on me and it's so comfortable. It doesn't do much for my figure as it's very flowy but the 16 fits perfectly on my boobs and it's a lovely shape with the V and the flowy skirt. I struggle in the heatwaves we get and this is perfect for really hot days. It's super soft too. www.hush-uk.com/penelope-tiered-dress-floral-animal/002056-3079.html

Poppy - I had high hopes for this and it's lovely. The 18 fitted but the 16 was too small on my chest. It is FAR more fitted than I am used to so I am going to wear a thigh/hip shaper thing just to boost my confidence a bit but my sister loved this one. It's very flattering and he gathering at the back really pulls you in at the waist. www.hush-uk.com/poppy-tea-dress-leopard-mark-pink/001238-3544.html

Susanna - This was a wildcard and I really like it. It's super soft and where I had thought it might cling to my wobbly bits, it doesn't. The tie is really flattering and it's a loose fit. I am going to weigh some chub rub shorts with it just to nip me in a bit but I don't need to. I am contemplating the grey version too... The 16 is perfect on my boobs, not tight at all. www.hush-uk.com/susanna-tie-dress-dusk-pink/002444-3114.html#list=Search%20results#list=Search%20results

So, as you can see I have had great success! A much needed boost. I am contemplating the V-neck jersey jumpsuit for the future. Let me know if you've tried it? Also if money is an issue, I recommend checking the Hush section out on the Vinted app. I am watching it like a hawk!

I had to have another embarrassing conversation with Bravissimo today as I can only find 3 Nude bras in my size. It upsets me that for sports bras you have to go up a back and cup which now takes me to an L, the max they do. Feel really down. I hate my boobs despite the fact they've fed both my boys. Considered breast reduction consultation again...

Great update @Ceramicsandsoftfurnishings

I have a Kensington dress from a few years ago, it’s a great dress.

BusterGonad · 25/05/2021 07:01

I'm a 34FF maybe a G at the moment but I tend to go for shirt dresses, I know that sounds crazy as the buttons can gape if you're not careful but they tend to flatter me the most, I think the buttons down the front slim me down (size 14 to 16) as I'm mainly belly and boobs, they usually come with a tie belt so you can create a shape. The v is also good for the boobs and the collar brings the eyes away from the chest area. Mine are mainly from Mango and Joanie. I like wrap dresses but sometimes feel that they make me look older or have an older look to them. A few years ago skater dresses were my go too but they are a bit dated now imo or maybe I just got bored of them. There are some lovely dresses on here. 😊

Musmerian · 25/05/2021 07:59

@Florabritannica

I feel your pain - I am a 34h. Don’t have any answers but watching with interest.
34H here too! I swear by prima Donna bras. Spendy but much more supportive than the brands Bravissimo carry. I tend to go for wrap dresses with a cami underneath. Jigsaw do some nice linen wrap dresses -and some of the Boden dresses are good. Also French Connection where I bought two slinky wrap dresses for work this winter. It’s trial and error though and ordering online means lots of returns.
Isitreallyme77 · 25/05/2021 07:59

34JJ here and I find it's a lot of trial and error, it doesn't help that I'm a size smaller on the bottom half. I prefer fitted styles, I have some great dresses from Bravissimo that are fitted on the body and go out in the skirt which look smart but can be dressed down if I want (bought years ago now). But I find Bravissimo have lost there way slightly with their clothes and just produce the same styles in different prints and colours every year but sadly if I want a dress that fits that's where I have to go.

I put on a stone in lockdown which has really upset me as it was the stone I lost last year and I was on the verge of being able to buy dresses in a normal shop for the first time in years.

goingtotown · 25/05/2021 09:17

M&S large cup bras, the cups are too wide apart & straps too thin for a heavy 34H.

LividBlabber · 25/05/2021 09:48

I’m only 5”3 and fat.

Those dresses you’ve bought @Ceramicsandsoftfurnishings are lovely but I’d look like I was wearing a pair of curtains.

I think I need more structure than midi offers.

Of course :), just wanted to share my successes as I have found finding things that fit really upsetting and hard.

@Ceramicsandsoftfurnishings
Thanks for the reviews that is certainly useful.
I posted a picture earlier in the thread of a new dress and would value some feedback.
I would happily give some if you want to post photos too. We are all mindful of what to look for.
Honest and positive comments only.

NellietheNumpty · 25/05/2021 17:46

I would also love a recommendation for vests for this season.
I want long line, wide straps to cover a bra strap, no large arm holes, not hideous.
I have tried and sent back from marks and next.

Totally agree about Bravissimo. There are very few things I'd contemplate wearing, but the occasional real gem.

For vests, I really rate the Jigsaw lace camis for layering underneath things. The straps are very thin though and I wouldn't wear them alone. The last decent ones I got with wider straps were from Warehouse, but it's a year or two ago.

Glad you found some dresses that work for you, OP.

NellietheNumpty · 25/05/2021 18:14

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie
Thanks for the recommendation. The last good ones I had were from Noa Noa but they don’t have them this year.

Musmerian · 25/05/2021 18:53

@RaraRachael - don’t bother with M and S fittings, they are legendarily awful. I wore a 36C for years when I was actually a 30 E and I only finally got the right size when I went to Rigby and Peller. Most people have the band size far too big. Get to R and P if you can or a local independent shop where they know their stuff. Once you’ve been fitted properly you will be amazed at the difference,

2andahalfpints · 25/05/2021 20:30

I have a couple of dresses from bravissimo and they are great.

Sorry @NellietheNumpty it is not the dress for you

woodhill · 25/05/2021 20:42

The fashions at the moment seem unflattering for larger boobs. The waists on things are usually in the wrong place on me including a fitted rain jacket.

QueenPaw · 25/05/2021 22:41

@NellietheNumpty depends how longline you want but I have the Matalan longline ones which are v good
Long tall sally did an excellent vest.. then got taken over and got rid of it Angry it's a v front and back with proper shoulders

QueenPaw · 25/05/2021 22:45

Oh I forgot this brand!
