Fellow big breasted women, I need YOUR help! Let's find flattering Summer styles.

Hello,

I am starting this thread after one too many failed shopping orders for Summer dresses! I am a 34 KK and have bras sorted (Bravissimo is fab!). Why is it SO hard to find summer dresses that are cut for big boobs?

After much failure, I think I need scoop/v-neck dresses that are tighter on the bodice and flow out to midi length. Love a bit of a sleeve too as it makes hiding bra straps easier. Having had two babies, I am bigger than I was and a 14/16 now so looser stuff that still nips in at the waist is better. I am just finding it so hard! Wraps do not work for me and buttons often gape and I feel like it's so hard not to look frumpy with a huge boobs.

Next don't seem to cut for bigger boobs and sizing up makes the shoulder area look ridiculous! Tried Joules but the same thing applies. Thinking about HUSH maybe but it's pricey. Has anyone found any real gems that fit the above criteria? Help! Here are some I am thinking of trying...

Patra.com are cut with plenty of room in the boobs. I'm a 38hh and they fit me.

id look for bravissimo/pepperberry summer dresses on ebay

Its quite hard to find summer dresses that work thats not trial and error, but seperates can be better

PLAYJAJADINGDONG · 18/05/2021 10:25

Holdonto I feel like an interloper on this thread as only have average sized boobs but can inform that Nobodys Child dresses, in my experience, do not allow for big boobs.

I have three of them and they're non-stretchy, small fitting and many of them are button front tea dress style so you end up with straining buttons.

Lexilooo · 18/05/2021 10:42

Nobody's Child is a good shout, thanks!

Would be interested to hear/see how they fit.

I am sick of clothes with insufficient boob space, and even if you look at the plus size collections the models never have large boobs so it is really difficult to see how they will look.

CoronaCurls · 18/05/2021 11:00

I have 36H boobs, and have just ordered a lovely dress from Nobody's Child that fits really well on the boobs and is v flattering- I'll find the link.

PLAYJAJADINGDONG · 18/05/2021 14:58

I can see how that one would work Corona as it's very oversized/smocky.

The ones I have are variations on this button front tea dress style. Much less roomy.

Thanks @PLAYJAJADINGDONG. I don't think I've worn a button front since school shirts Grin

There’s a sale on at Winser London, eg

www.winserlondon.com/sale/sale-outlet/wrap-dress-print-sale-outlet

I’ve found their dresses v flattering and they are great quality.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 22/05/2021 13:10

I bought this dress which was recommended further up the thread

I've bought this:

www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-ditsy-floral-midi-waisted-dress/p/clp60447577?color=ORANGEMIX#intid=prodColourId-60447577

the seam that's meant to sit UNDER the bust was happily nestled across my nipples cutting my boobs in half! I'm absolutely gutted. It's a gorgeous dress but once again no room for boobs.

I'm a 32HH. I have a real hourglass figure and cannot find anything to wear that looks any good. I'm SO fed up! I'll keep trawling. Keep the ideas coming...

SansaClegane · 22/05/2021 16:35

I've bought this dress in the vain hope that for when the weather clears up! 30H and fits well around the bust.

Forgot to say, it's Boden, the 'Eda Jersey Tiered Dress'.

Knittingnanny · 22/05/2021 17:04

I’m totally out of proportion in that I’m short, slim but DD boobs. I always have problems with gaping fronts! One solution I have is that unless the opening is vital to actually getting the garment on and off, I always machine/hand stitch it closed. Prevents the gaping between buttons.

RaraRachael · 22/05/2021 17:10

I'm 36F and only ever wear shift dresses. I can't wear a wrapover dress or anything with a waist as it just accentuates their size. I'm also struggling to find my correct bra size - I've tried loads of sites to measure myself and have been 32E, 36DD, 38A and 40C - none of which fitted and am fed up returning bras. I even had a bra fitting in M and S last week, bought 2 underwired ones that the assistant suggested and am in agony with wires poking into me.
Any suggestions?

DeusEx · 22/05/2021 17:47

Is silkfred good @harriethoyle? I thought they were a scam

That looks fabulous @SansaClegane 😍
SansaClegane · 22/05/2021 19:21

Aw thank you @bendmeoverbackwards - I've got loads of ideas how to style it & can't wait to wear it... sadly it's still about 10C too cold out there
@RaraRachael, I always go to Bravissimo, have you tried them? Actually just been in today to get re-fitted as I've lost some weight. Brilliant service and comfy bras.

harriethoyle · 22/05/2021 21:30

@DeusEx love them. I've got loads from them. They are good for boobs too. Check out the kimono tops. Insanely flattering!

TheThermalStair · 22/05/2021 22:43

@RaraRachael just get a tape measure and measure round under your boobs - the way Bravissimo sizes clothes is they take that measure and then ask if you have to go up 1/2/3 clothes sizes from normal to fit your boobs. I second that their fitting services are great for bras too. Pre Covid I was a 32FF but the idiot arseholes at M&S told me that it wasn’t that they didn’t have any bras to fit me, instead they claimed I was actually a 38B (!!!!!). I did say that since my waist was 30 inches I’d be a pretty weird shape if the band of my bra - only slightly higher up my torso was a whole 8 inches bigger. Like some kind of inverse pyramid woman?

RaraRachael · 23/05/2021 10:51

LOL TheThermalStair I've just about gone mad trying to get the bra sizing sorted out. I thought I'd struck lucky in M and S as the woman had a gap in her appointments and fitted me in. She told me the bras I've been wearing (t-shirt semi padded and VERY comfy) weren't the right sort for me and gave me lacy things instead. On the nude one, the wires dig into the front of my chest and the black one the wires dig into my side - exactly the same bra and the same size - I've just about lost the will to live with all this Hmm

Once I finally get bras sorted out, I'll be able to look for dresses.

Arbadacarba · 23/05/2021 10:56

Just place marking for ideas.

I'm tired of my boobs dominating every dress I wear and also of contorting myself to do up those annoying underarm side-zips.

That's a great tip about 'tall' giving a longer body because I find the waist rides up terribly on fitted dresses.

TheThermalStair · 23/05/2021 18:14

Honestly M&S are notorious with big-boobed women for not knowing one end of a breast from another. How dare they tell you your comfy bras are "the wrong type" (or me that my bra size is completely wrong)? In my view they are just desperate to sell you anything so if they don't have what you want or need they'll tell you a pack of lies to persuade you. Very weird and such a shame.

If you're not near a Bravissimo btw they have a really great livechat service on their website so they can probably talk you through measuring yourself up properly. This is my most comfy Bravissimo bra btw www.bravissimo.com/products/satine-bra-au15/

DeusEx · 23/05/2021 19:32

M and S are absolutely terrible for large boobs. Such a shame. They have absolutely no idea on sizing.
