Fellow big breasted women, I need YOUR help! Let's find flattering Summer styles.

Hello,

I am starting this thread after one too many failed shopping orders for Summer dresses! I am a 34 KK and have bras sorted (Bravissimo is fab!). Why is it SO hard to find summer dresses that are cut for big boobs?

After much failure, I think I need scoop/v-neck dresses that are tighter on the bodice and flow out to midi length. Love a bit of a sleeve too as it makes hiding bra straps easier. Having had two babies, I am bigger than I was and a 14/16 now so looser stuff that still nips in at the waist is better. I am just finding it so hard! Wraps do not work for me and buttons often gape and I feel like it's so hard not to look frumpy with a huge boobs.

Next don't seem to cut for bigger boobs and sizing up makes the shoulder area look ridiculous! Tried Joules but the same thing applies. Thinking about HUSH maybe but it's pricey. Has anyone found any real gems that fit the above criteria? Help! Here are some I am thinking of trying...

@harriethoyle
Just wow what a beautiful playsuit. I am too elderly but it is just stunning.

Srirachachacha · 14/05/2021 10:02

I buy bravissimo dresses but they can be a bit frumpy at times. My most recent purchase is a next cropped jumpsuit in their sale, it ties at the back so is super flattering.

NellietheNumpty · 14/05/2021 10:03

Sorry not a playsuit is it!!!!

harriethoyle · 14/05/2021 10:28

To be fair @NellietheNumpty it does look like it has shorts at the bottom rather than a skirt on that photo!

MapGirlExtraordinaire · 14/05/2021 12:50

@NellietheNumpty I love that jacket, and you've reminded me that's the other shape of light coat I know suits me.

I call that a bomber jacket, and last time i looked, a couple of years ago, I couldn't find any online. Is there another name I need to search for? Or any places I should look? Thanks for the reminder

This one is cute.

This one would be great for summer but not for me. I am ghost coloured.

Try searching for blouson, although in my head a blouson and a bomber are very different things!

I bought one in the summer sales two years ago, which was too light for autumn then of course lockdown, so I've pulled it out for now and it's brilliant. It's probably a year out of date but I don't care! It feels so much more casual than a blazer.

Ceramicsandsoftfurnishings · 14/05/2021 21:12

Firstly, I am so sorry for not coming back to this thread sooner! I didn't get any email notifications and I had no idea the thread had got so many responses. I feel so happy to have found my people!

The first dress is New Look! I don't tend to shop their much anymore as I feel like at 30 it's maybe a little old but I tend to find the ruching on the top half can be flattered IF it's long enough in the waist.

Does anyone else feel like their boobs tend to hog an outfit?! I feel that they often make me look frumpy and I need to learn how to dress them better so that they don't take centre stage!

I love a jumpsuit, I think they can be so flattering and easy to wear. I need them to be long in the body but when it works they feel great to wear!

@ilovecherries

I was your size OP, till I had a reduction 2 years ago (now a 32G so still not tiny despite them taking over half a stone away...). Anyway, I found hush Kensington worked well and actually gave me a waist too. Also the hush Jamie with a belt. Penelope was not successful though. Some M&S midaxi dresses worked well even though they are button front. Zara can also have a few workable options.
I would love a reduction and think about it a lot! I am done having babies now and so I am coming to terms with the fact that I now need to try to like myself more but my boobs make it so hard. I'm going to try to get a bit fitter and see if that has any effect. I was a 32F pre-babies, 34G after my first son and now a 34K. I've always had big boobs but not this big and I really don't like the way they look.

[quote Snooks1971]Great thread thanks OP. I’m 34G and recently bought this from M&S. It really nips in under the boob area. Annoyingly it looks pretty much sold out but thought I would share anyway in case it comes back into stock.

Thank you for all these ideas, I have been looking at a few of them and have ordered the hush one - I will see how it goes as I am worried it may be a little tent like. Please keep any further recommendations coming!

FreeButtonBee · 15/05/2021 23:15

I have this and it is perfect www.baukjen.com/collections/dresses/products/milly-dress-carob-fruit-print

I am a short size 12 with 32G boobs amd this is great. 100% cotton and washes and wears really well. Dress up with sandals dress down with trainers and a big cardi. Love it.

Just a shame this years version isn’t cotton. I have a fiend for natural fibres.

user1471548941 · 15/05/2021 23:25

I have a couple of wrap dresses that I LOVE from Ted Baker and & Other Stories. I’m a 28J and a small size 8 and I find this style is the best for making me look more neatly proportioned, rather than merely just fitting over my boobs!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 15/05/2021 23:45

I'm an HH cup and struggle with dresses. I've had my eye on this one at Baukjen - but it's a bit on the expensive side: www.baukjen.com/collections/dresses/products/felice-organic-dress-bordeaux-batik-print

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 16/05/2021 00:15

@FreeButtonBee the dresses I've seen in Baukjen are organic cotton?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 16/05/2021 00:19

I looked at Hush - I wouldn't even get my nipples this one!

Hi everyone,

How are your weekends going?

I have just made a big order from HUSH and also Nobody's Child. The latter I am unsure about but thought it was worth a try. Especially after more failed attempts this weekend!

I have ordered the HUSH Kensington, Susanna and Peony. I have high hopes for the Kensington as it seems to have rave reviews, intrigued by the Susanna but worried it will cling to the bits of me I dislike. The Peony is a wildcard, it's a leopard print tea dress and I think it will look cute. Keeping my eye out for some white converse too as think this will avoid the frump factor. Does anyone else find big boobs so aging? Loved the look of the Khloe and Eden and that is exactly the style I would LOVE to wear and used to order but I just don't think they will work for me sadly. Hush have a 10 percent discount code until tomorrow, it's HELLOWORLD.

From Nobody's Child I ordered the Alexis dress, Selena midi dress and Rosie midi dress. Sizing seems to be mixed so I've opted for an 18 but I am a bit worried that will mean they are too oversized on the shoulders and waist... We will see.

I did find a really nice summer jacket in M&S though that's really flattering on. This one www.marksandspencer.com/utility-jacket/p/clp60441788?color=APRICOT it's definitely more of a nudey pink than an apricot. It looks much better on! I tried a size 16 and a 14 and the 14 was generous so bear that in mind.

I've bought this:

www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-ditsy-floral-midi-waisted-dress/p/clp60447577?color=ORANGEMIX#intid=prodColourId-60447577

And a similar but blue based one that might be sold out. This one is slightly nicer than the blue I think. I don't like my arms or my legs so this covers everything, but they are feather light cotton (this one will require nude underwear top and bottom) so should be good for summer. Only thing is OH says I look like a peasant from the middle ages in them so there is that... and I kind of get what he means too. I'm a 34GG.

I bought this Bravissimo playsuit last summer and have worn it both with bare legs in the summer and with tights and a leather jacket in A/W!
