Still had birthday money from start of the year, so after constantly looking at them online I have just gone for it! Quite excited but also feel a bit guilty!! It is birthday money and it was my 40 😬

Mulberry will fix it if it breaks, so don't worry too much about the strap thing. Hopefully they've rectified it.

Ninkanink · 02/05/2021 12:21

Yes but in the meantime your beautiful much loved bag will potentially be hitting the pavement more than once when the strap fails. And one person had to exchange for another bag in the end iirc after Mulberry had already sorted it once because although they could replace the rings they couldn’t actually stop it from happening as it was something to do with the design.

It’s made me hesitant to buy it which is a shame as I really like it.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/05/2021 12:32

Great choice OP! I love my Lily...hmm, must get it out soon.

Enjoy it and welcome to your new addiction. I bet you don't stop at one!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/05/2021 12:35

@Ninkanink I thought I might see you on this thread!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/05/2021 12:37

@Missushbb

I'm talking rubbish not the Darley, the Amberley satchel. I preferred that. So many lovely colours too
OP I have an Amberley satchel too, the small one in black. It's more of an every day bag than the Lily. Depends what you think you will use it for. I use my Lily for nights out rather than in the daytime.
whiteonesugar · 02/05/2021 12:38

My mulberry is oxblood too, it’s SO versatile. I got an unexpected bonus from work and told my husband who told me to spend all of it on myself and forbade me to spend any on the kids! Haha! I felt guilty but it gives me so much joy!

SelkieFly · 02/05/2021 13:04

@Ninkanink

I’m obviously not awake yet as you did say Amberley! 😆 this is what happens when I skip my coffee in the morning 🙄🙄

@SelkieFly did you post about your bag at the time? I vaguely remember someone who got that bag for a milestone birthday. It’s a true beauty!

I did, i posted about 4 bags and got a lot of great feedback from bag lovers. Lots of "that'd feed a family of 8 for a year" comments too. I was deciding on the bag to buy for about six months!
SelkieFly · 02/05/2021 13:09
@Elsabet photos, pretty please!!

And, to reciprocate, here’s my Abbey which is my favourite bag for a sunny summer day! ❤️
Beautiful, love it!

Ninkanink · 02/05/2021 13:27

Hi @chocolatesaltyballs22! 😁😁

True, the Lily is a bit more dressy than the Amberley, if that makes a difference. Although I use mine for normal day-to-day errands/outings, but it’s oak (and very old) so it works pretty well for casual wear.

@Missushbb I wouldn’t worry too much about the hardware issue - you could always ask them in the shop how many people have had problems with it. It’s likely it won’t be many.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/05/2021 13:28

Hello!!!

I didn't have a hardware issue with my Amberley. It's over 3 years old and still as good as new.

Ninkanink · 02/05/2021 13:31

Oh that’s good to hear.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 02/05/2021 13:34

I have an Amberley in Oxblood. It's beautiful to look at, but not practical at all for me 🙁 The leather is too stiff, and it's not quick to open to retrieve phone/Oyster card. I've used it twice. It was a present, but I won't use it much because of those issues.

I need a softer bag that zips shut and has an outside pocket.

Ninkanink · 02/05/2021 13:46

I think it’s interesting how bags are quite similar to engagement rings/wedding dresses - we sometimes think we love one style but when we try them on it’s not quite right and something else is perfect.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/05/2021 13:49

This is my current favourite if anyone is interested ❤️

Ninkanink · 02/05/2021 14:09

❤️❤️❤️

@Missushbb do you think you’ll stick with the oxblood or were there any other colours that tempted you?

Missushbb · 02/05/2021 15:24

The oxblood is lovely. I wasn't too keen on the finish though, the grain? Looked quite pebbly! I really liked to Amberley satchel. Quite like it in the pink but thinking that would be as easy to use all the time. There was a light green one too which I liked

Sigh. Such fun. I really am very excited for you!😊

Oh that’s a gorgeous colour for summer! I love it.

MargosKaftan · 02/05/2021 15:43

I bought a small Amberley last summer in a stone colour. It's a lovely bag, but small.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/05/2021 15:58

Gorgeous. Love the silver hardware.

Elsabet · 02/05/2021 16:42

For light leather colours I would think about what you will wear with it as you can get colour transfer.
I had a lovely creamy pink Alexa but I sold it as I couldn’t be doing with the worry of colour transfer.

Missushbb · 03/05/2021 21:30

So the lily came today, it is beautiful but I will return it. I'm just not 100% sure about it and it is a lot of money if I'm not certain. If the strap was a bit longer it would be perfect for me as I like a crossbody, just looks a bit short on me when I wear it across. It feels lonely especially inside, so soft! But I'll return it. Think that's why I liked the Amberley satchel, it was more what I would usually wear as it sat longer when crossbody

Missushbb · 03/05/2021 21:40

Feels lovely, not lonely!! 😂

Ninkanink · 03/05/2021 21:42

👍👍 It sounds like the Amberley would be perfect for you! And it is a really lovely bag. Plus if you buy direct from Mulberry you get the nice branded shopping bag too!😊😊
